Brothers Johannes and Christoph Pfefferkorn now work with Alexandra Kiener to run the hotel in keeping with its long tradition. They also run the Tannbergerhof’s partner hotel, located almost directly across the road – the five-star, romantic Die Krone von Lech.

They represent the fifth generation of the Pfefferkorn family, who have been working with the entire team for many years to demonstrate their creativity and feel for the industry in meeting the needs of their guests.

Guests at the Hotel Tannbergerhof tend to be young, active people with a cosmopolitan outlook who expect a high level of service. We are committed to satisfying these expectations, to the considerable delight of our guests – as you can see from the reviews we have received.

If you have any preferences, suggestions or critical comments to share, please let us know – our hostess Ms Alexandra Kiener and the team will be pleased to address your concerns.

Secret tip: not for nothing were the Formarinsee lake and Rote Wand mountain featured on the Österreichischen Rundfunk (ORF) television programme “9 Plätze – 9 Schätze” (9 places – 9 treasures) in 2005, where they were listed among the most beautiful places in Austria.

THE LECHWEG PATH
Explore one of Europe’s last remaining wild river landscapes. The Lech flows around 125km from its source near the Formarinsee lake down to the Lechfall waterfall in Füssen, Allgäu.

As you hike along the river, you will pass one of the largest colonies of ibex in Europe, cross the longest hanging pedestrian bridge in Austria and see the Bavarian royal castles – a truly unique outdoor experience.

In contrast to many other Alpine climbs, the Lechweg path is designed to offer a medium-difficulty hike for which no Alpine hiking experience is required. You can tackle the stages in any order to complete a certain number of kilometres each day.

Take a look at the four-star Hotel Tannbergerhof! As you pass through Lech am Arlberg, you might like to call in to the Tannbergerhof to enjoy a pleasant break on the hotel’s sun terrace!

Our Tannbergerhof tip: the Formarinsee is a beautiful mountain lake where you can (with a valid fishing pass from the Lech Zürs Tourismus information centre) enjoy a peaceful fishing expedition!

THE GREEN RING
This three-day, multi-stage hiking route leads over mountain ridges, through deep valleys and past waterfalls and Alpine meadows – following the trail of mysterious legends and ancient stories about the land and its people. This route is not just for nature enthusiasts, but also for those with an interest in culture.

Children find this hike exciting too, as there are many mysterious and exciting adventures concealed along the way, just waiting to be discovered. The Green Ring is the counterpart to the White Ring in winter, and both begin at the Rüfikopf!

THE VORARLBERG CIRCUIT
“My path” – or, as the Vorarlberg dialect would have it, “Min Weag” – is a hiking circuit around the Arlberg leading past some of the most beautiful scenery in Vorarlberg.

Visitors and locals alike come to seek peace and leave their daily cares behind here among the mountain landscapes. Conversely, there is always the possibility of enriching encounters with other like-minded people, fellow travellers on the pathway.

The Min Weag forest trail boasts a grand total of 31 stages, passing through six distinct regions. Hiking enthusiasts can tackle the whole loop in one go or hike the route in sections in either direction. The trail runs from Lake Constance up into the high mountains and back.

From the gently rolling hills of the Bregenzerwald forest, above the tree line to the Silvretta or the Rätikon – you’ll see every kind of landscape along the way. Each district and people have their own distinctive character and individual flair – including Lech am Arlberg, of course.

If you hadn’t already realised it, this hiking path will prove that the apparently small region tucked away to the left of Tyrol is really not so small after all.

Trail-running is a particularly good way to get outdoors and feel close to nature. At the traditional, four-star Hotel Tannbergerhof, you will be right in the thick of it all in the centre of Lech am Arlberg.

Lech am Arlberg and the surrounding area offer a fabulous natural backdrop to your trail-running adventures. And the best part? Trail-running is the healthiest type of running sport, as you travel over low-impact surfaces such as gravel paths, meadowlands and forest trails.

The Panorama trail in St. Anton am Arlberg is a particularly lovely option, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape. There are also four different trails to choose from in Lech am Arlberg itself.

Trail-running is gaining popularity all the time, and more and more keen runners are exploring this low-impact sport with plenty of variety. Various studies have shown that light exercise at a moderate altitude, such as in Lech am Arlberg, is particularly good for your body and overall fitness.

And that doesn’t just mean mountain biking and hiking. The most important features of trail-running are the health benefits and the diversity as you get out into the natural world at your own pace and with your ideal pulse range.

FISHING
Fishing the idyllic waters around Lech is a marvellous way to spend your days in peace and relaxation. The unique natural landscape, beautiful scenery and abundance of fish ensure your summer holiday is an extraordinary experience. You can encounter rainbow trout, brown trout, lake trout, speckled trout, char and grayling in the lakes around Lech:

  • Lechbach
  • Spullersee
  • Fischteich Zug
  • Formarinsee

The region around the Arlberg contains a diverse range of streams and mountain lakes where you can enjoy a trouble-free fishing experience. Appropriate rules of conduct are of course prescribed, although no set fishing test is required for many fishing locations.

In summer, however, fishing is only permitted in most waters with a valid day pass, which can be obtained from ticket offices, the Fischteich pond in Zug or the Lech-Zürs tourism office.

The Lechbach is a mountain stream that can be fished with varying degrees of difficulty. Some sections of the waterway are easy to get to and ideal for families and beginners, while others are more attractive to experienced anglers. Depending on the location, waders may be useful.

The Spullersee is a mountain lake at an altitude of 1,810m, which you can get to with the convenient local Lech bus service. The lake is an excellent fishing destination suitable for all skill levels. The waters of the Spullersee are also perfect for a refreshing swim.

The Fischteich Zug pond is well-known as a popular fishing spot for local anglers. It is also the place to go for fishing equipment, bait, tips and tricks for fishing in Austrian waters.

The Spullersee is a mountain lake 1,810m above sea level, easy to reach via the local Lech bus system. The lake is the perfect fishing destination for everyone. The cool waters also provide the perfect opportunity for a refreshing swim.

The Formarinsee lake is easy to reach from Lech via the local bus or a 30-minute drive in your car. Fishing on the Formarinsee is an unforgettable experience, with the lake listed among the most beautiful places in Austria in 2005 by the ORF television. The lakeshore is particularly lovely when seen during your hike, trail-running excursion or mountain-bike tour.

MOUNTAIN GOLF
Enjoy exclusive golfing at 1,500m above sea level: Lech has been impressing golfing enthusiasts since June 2016 with the highest-altitude golf course in Austria. The nine-hole course occupies 19 hectares along the banks of the Lech River and features spectacular mountain views.

The par-66 course provides golfers of all handicaps with a “perfect playing experience surrounded by the natural Austrian countryside”.

The challenge is to maintain the necessary, vital concentration, even as the splendid Alpine scenery and the beautiful Lech tempt you to stop and enjoy the view. The third and fourth holes of the course are particularly exciting, as you must successfully play across the river in order to sink your ball.

Golfers who wish to visit multiple courses during their holiday in Vorarlberg can enjoy the so-called “six-pack”, a series of three delightful 18-hole golf courses and three charming nine-hole courses, all within a radius of 65 kilometres. Perfect conditions for beginners or professional athletes to improve their tee shots and work on their handicaps.

In addition to the actual golf course, the Lech Golf Club grounds also contain the Iconic Golf Academy, where holiday golfing lessons are available for all skill levels. The school has its own 3×3 hole practice area as well as a driving range, putting green and pitching facility.

The Iconic Golf Academy offers a diverse programme of golfing lessons under the leadership of pro golfer Michael Coventon.

Introductory courses, individual tuition, proficiency certificates, intensive lessons or computer-assisted analysis of your stroke – the golf school in Lech has the perfect training on offer for everyone from beginners to experienced golfers. You, too can enjoy a really skillful game of golf in Vorarlberg.

ACTIVITIES ON THE ARLBERG
The wide variety of summer activities in Lech and the Arlberg region reflects the diversity of the Arlberg itself. The Arlberg is more than just a paradise for hikers, cyclists and golfing enthusiasts. The region also offers a terrific range of other outdoor activities for your summer holiday: swimming, tennis & beach volleyball, fishing, canyoning & rafting!

SWIMMING
On warm days, the new Lech Waldschwimmbad swimming pool is a particularly attractive option. Opened in 2020, the facility is an easy 20-minute walk from the four-star Hotel Tannbergerhof. You can also take one of the hotel’s e-bikes or catch the local bus, which stops just two minutes away from the hotel.

Children are particularly thrilled by a day in the water and will love exploring the craggy island, water slide, infants’ pool and playground. Those looking for a more relaxing time can enjoy sunbathing on the waterside lounge chairs.

The Lechbach stream is another cool, refreshing option! The Lech Waldschwimmbad is open during the summer and in fine weather from 9:30am to 7:00pm. Entry is free with your Lech Card – a terrific option for a marvellous summer day out with the whole family!

TENNIS & BEACH VOLLEY
Set, pass and smash: only on the beach? Not at all! At Lech’s Waldschwimmbad swimming pool, visitors find a superbly presented sand beach-volleyball court. Everything you need for beach volleyball action during your summer holiday in Lech!

An exciting contest on the court with your family and friends or a spontaneous team of holidaymakers, locals, or would-be spectators makes a welcome and super-fun change of pace on a hot summer day. Enjoy an exciting game in the sun, safe in the knowledge that you can cool off in the water afterwards!
