Just like a happy surprise which is constantly renewed, for over a century Le Negresco has been writing the legend of Nice and the French Riviera on a daily basis.
The story began in 1913. On 8 January, Le Negresco opened its doors. The hotel, designed by Henri Negrescu, immediately drew the attention of the international Jet Set. Artists, politicians and royalty were numerous to have signed the guest book.
High society and chic evenings, the myth was perpetuated with Jeanne Augier who purchased Le Negresco in 1957. She continued the incredible story of the Palace.
The painter Dali, Princess Grace of Monaco, the Beatles, Louis Armstrong, Elton John… she personally greeted celebrities and started a collection of valuable artwork and furniture. Today, it is not rare to run into a celebrity enjoying a discreet summer stopover on the terrace at 37 Promenade des Anglais.
Staying at Le Negresco is like jumping into a joyous mixture of eras and styles. Contemporary artists, masterpieces, monumental sculptures… Le Negresco owes its well-respected identity to its important collection of artwork and period furniture with over 6,000 references.

Among the first of the 5-star hotels in France to have committed to a voluntary environmental policy, Le Negresco obtained the European Eco-label which guarantees the implementation of environmental protection measures. In accordance with this commitment, we have replaced the individual doses of liquid soap by distributors of the Lalique brand.

ROOMS & SUITES
Fitted-out and personalized with exceptional period furniture, each of the 102 rooms and 26 suites has been inspired by the most remarkable periods of French art. From the Louis XIII style to modern art, five centuries of history are represented.
MARIE-ANTOINETTE SUITE
One of the most influential personalities at Le Negresco, the legendary French queen Marie-Antoinette, personally greets you in one of the hotel’s grandest suites. With its blue and golden hues, the salon recreates the most vibrant moments of the late 18th century.
From the spacious terrace with its majestic columns, guests are treated to the exhilaration of the great outdoors, as the blue of the Mediterranean Sea spreads out endlessly, emphasising the feminine grace and discreet elegance that reign supreme here.
IMPERIAL JUNIOR SUITE
Enjoy the luxury of the First Empire -that of Napoleon Bonaparte in person. The Imperial Junior Suite is a true representation of a Palace during the First Empire including fabric with a bee pattern, mahogany furniture and gilded bronze.

LA PARISIENNE JUNIOR SUITE
Luxurious and cozy suites with a stunning view over the Mediterranean, all of Le Negresco’s suites have extra soul, each one is an invitation to a change of scenery. La Parisienne offers a décor that is inspired by French haute couture, a sleek Parisian style with silky wall hangings, dark wood and braids with golden highlights.
Furniture that draws inspiration from travel trunks as if you were invited to a station platform ready to embark on the Orient Express. Its huge lounge flooded with light opens up onto the horizon of the Mediterranean.
The La Parisienne suite revives the glitz and elegance of the last century on the “so French Riviera” previously reserved for the aristocracy.
SEA VIEW JUNIOR SUITES
Sea View Junior suites have everything going for them: the location, the decoration and the view. The beautiful silk wall coverings, the elegant wood furniture and the comfortable velvet armchairs remind you that your stay at the Negresco can be nothing but luxurious.
Private sitting area double or triple large windows, the “Palace” spirit of these Junior Suites goes perfectly with their exceptional view of the sea for a 100% Riviera experience.
DELUXE SEA VIEW SUITES
These three suites have forged the reputation of Le Negresco hotel. The Montserrat Caballé, Marie Leszczynska and Marie-Antoinette suites are amongst the few places that have written the history of the luxury hotel industry.
For the Spring-Summer 2022 collection, these suites have been given a haute-couture makeover. Pursuing the mission of renowned art lover and antique furniture connoisseur Jeanne Augier, the upholsterers of Le Negresco, who are all Compagnons du Devoir, have refurnished the suites into sumptuous scenes of history using original period furniture selected from the hotel’s collections, luxurious fabrics supplied by prestigious houses – most of which are certified by the Living Heritage Company – and 18th century patterns and techniques.
With their private double reception area and spacious bedroom, these suites feature remarkable objects including marquetry furniture, Sèvres vases and authentic 18th century portraits.
A sprawling, columned terrace overlooking the sea and the palm trees of the Promenade des Anglais further compliments the exceptional character of the suites, which are inundated by the light and colours of the Mediterranean to offer their privileged guests a genuinely royal experience.
RIVOLI ROOMS
These are the most recent of our rooms. Located in a renovated wing, they look out onto the green garden of the Masséna Palace. What was the inspiration of our decorators for these new rooms? The color. We can find yellow – emblematic color of the Nice region, in different shades.
Golden – it goes well with hues of red, Gold – it is in harmony with a palette of green emeralds, Brilliant – it mixes well with a majestic “royal blue”. To decorate these seven rooms, the Negresco called on four French companies which are certified “Living Heritage Companies”.
LE CHANTECLER
Our Michelin-starred restaurant, Le Chantecler, revisits the codes of great gastronomy conferring to them lightness and sincerity. They offer a talented tribute to regional products. Table service is also renowned.
Discrete, it however knows how to put on a show when flambéeing or carving meat in the restaurant in the tradition of great restaurants. With its sumptuous wordwork dating back to 1751, Le Chantecler offers an 18th-century decor which is both ethereal and sumptuous for exceptional dinners.
A new welcome, a new spirit, a new decor revamped to suit the changing seasons: the floral art of Hervé Frézal, who is also a Meilleur Ouvrier de France, flourishes among the œuvres dating back to the 18th century; the porcelain tableware and basketwork is by Elisabeth Monroy and Sylvie Lorne; and the lighting designers have sketched out a fresh, soft and modern atmosphere.
The latest innovation (and by no means the least) is that you now enter the restaurant from the Promenade des Anglais via a space that has been totally redesigned in the form of a large landscaped terrace.
Sitting comfortably in a plush sofa with a cocktail in your hand, let yourself be carried away by this breath of fresh air that is floating over Le Negresco.

LA ROTONDE
With its white and gold tones, La Rotonde is THE expression of the French Riviera, in a chic and relaxed version. This great brasserie is a true institution close to the heart of those who live in Nice. Its new trimmings maintain the welcoming ambiance that it is known for with a little note of the So Negresco “Glamour”.
Virginie Basselot, executive chef at Le Negresco, has been out and about to select the fine local products of sea and soil that she invites you to discover on her menu at La Rotonde.

THE NEGRESCO BAR
With its authentic walnut woodwork dating back to 1913 and its exceptional 1683 tapestry, the Negresco Bar is a comfy place to enjoy a drink or eat a snack. In the evening, it moves to the rhythm of jazz, pop and soul.
Indulging his inspiration to suit the seasons and events, Frédéric, the head Barman proposes original cocktails which blend rigor and skill. Evenings with DJs or very “groovy” live concerts – every event is different.
The Negresco Bar is one of those special places with a life of its own and where discretion is a must and elegance is second nature. Patronized by celebrities who come to the bar on a regular basis, it remains, however, open to guests from the city.
