America’s Cup Charters

All of the company’s 12 Meter yachts raced for yachting’s most coveted prize and three actually won The America’s Cup.

You’re welcome to participate in the sailing or just sit back and relax enjoying picturesque Narragansett Bay. We’ll sail past Castle Hill Lighthouse, historic Rose Island, and Hammersmith Farm — the beautiful summer White House of JFK. Sailing aboard these 68-foot classic racers is truly a unique experience you’ll treasure always.

Classic Cruises of Newport
Enjoy stunning views of Narragansett Bay and the excitement of the Sailing Capital of America with Classic Cruises. Aboard Rum Runner II, cruise by mansions and former speakeasies fueled by seaborne smugglers, and relive the thrill of the chase.

Originally built for two New Jersey mobsters to elude the Coast Guard while speeding cases of “hooch”, it offers the luxury and intrigue you’d imagine of a high-speed bandit, with a history all her own.

Museums & Monuments
With such a long and colorful history, it’s only natural that our city is home to dozens of excellent Newport RI museums and historical places. We’ve cherry picked a few of our favourite Newport monuments and museums to get you started on your very own magical history tour.

National Museum of American Illustration
Located on historic Bellevue Avenue in Vernon Court, “one of the truly greatest estates in America”, the National Museum of American Illustration (NMAI) is exclusively devoted to American illustration artwork.

Stroll through the stunning estate and view a collection of over 2,000 original works by such renowned illustrators as Maxfield Parrish, Norman Rockwell, and N.C. Wyeth, among many others. Also owned by the museum is the adjacent Stoneacre grounds.

Designed by legendary American landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted (designer of Central Park, the White House grounds, and other notable projects), Stoneacre’s three acres have been restored as an arboretum in Olmsted’s honor.

Fort Adams
Make history come alive for every member of your family. Just a short drive or a water taxi ride across Newport Harbor stands the largest coastal fortification in the United States. Visit this engineering and architectural masterpiece to see where the soldiers lived, enter the casemates, explore the tunnel system, and climb the bastions for breathtaking views.

Consider renting the Fort with its six-acre parade field or North Lawn on the water for your special function. Watch for upcoming special events including military reenactments, music festivals, and classic vehicle shows. From 1824 to 1950, Fort Adams housed generations of our soldiers. Today, this Newport monument still stands ready for your enjoyment.

International Tennis Hall of Fame
American tournament tennis began in 1881 in Newport, Rhode Island, when the first U.S. National Lawn Tennis Championships were played. This tournament, which evolved into today’s U.S. Open, was played at the Newport Casino until 1915, when it moved to Forest Hills, New York.

Today, the historic Casino houses one of the country’s finest sports museums: the International Tennis Hall of Fame Museum. An uncommon example of sporting excellence, the entire history of the sport — dating from the 12th century through today — is chronicled within its 18 galleries.

This Newport RI museum encompasses over 20,000 square feet of interactive exhibits and popular memorabilia of tennis champions past and present, as well as a permanent collection of over 15,000 objects.

Touro Synagogue
Touro Synagogue, which was dedicated in 1763, is America’s oldest synagogue. This architectural jewel was designed by Peter Harrison, the country’s most famous 18th century architect, and is considered his finest effort.

Of particular note is the Colonial Jewish Burial Ground and George Washington’s original letter to the Hebrew Congregations of Newport, reassuring those who fled religious tyranny that their new nation would respect religious liberty.

Designated a National Historic Site in 1946, the Synagogue remains an active Orthodox synagogue and continues to hold religious services and events throughout the year.

Audrain Automobile Museum
If you love cars (and great architecture), then you definitely need to make your way to the Audrain Automobile Museum. Housed in the historic Audrain Building — “one of the four Gilded Age buildings that form an architecturally significant block on Bellevue Avenue” — the Museum contains over 350 cars and motorcycles dating from the pre-War era to the 21st century.

Each year, there are new thematic exhibits, programs, and events, including the popular Audrain Newport Concours & Motor Week, A Celebration of All Things History, Luxury & Sport, held in early October.

Newport Mansions
With an iconic One Bellevue address, our hotel near the Newport RI mansions makes it easy to take a deeper look at the opulent homes and the Gilded Age of America. All you have to do is take a stroll down the street!

The Breakers Mansion
The Breakers is the grandest of the Newport summer mansions and a National Historic Landmark. Built for Cornelius Vanderbilt II by architect Richard Morris Hunt in 1895, this 70-room Italian Renaissance-style house includes a 45-foot-high Great Hall.

The Breakers sits on a 13-acre estate with spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean, and is particularly stunning in December, as part of Newport Mansions Christmas celebrations

Marble House
With 500,000 cubic feet of marble, this opulent Newport mansion was completed in 1892 for William K. Vanderbilt, whose wife Alva oversaw its construction and received it as a birthday present. It contains a 22-karat gilded ballroom, and cost a reported $11 million to build and furnish.

In 1914, Alva added a colorful Chinese teahouse overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. A National Historic Landmark, Marble House is also decorated for the holidays during December.

The Elms Mansion
A National Historic Landmark, this French-style chateau built for Philadelphia millionaire Edward Berwind represented the best of gracious living and entertaining when it opened in 1901. The estate includes a 10-acre park and elaborate sunken garden. Decorated for the holidays in December.

Kingscote Mansion
This mansion was one of the early summer houses designed in the Gothic Revival style. Dating back to 1839, Kingscote’s dining room was added in 1881, and it includes one of the earliest installations of Tiffany glass. It is now a National Historic Landmark, and houses the original furnishings and collections of four generations of Newport’s influential King family.

Rosecliff Mansion
Modeled after the Grand Trianon at Versailles, this beautiful house was completed in 1902 for Nevada silver heiress Theresa “Tessie” Oelrichs. Rosecliff was the setting for many spectacular Newport parties, and in recent years has been used as a film set for several Hollywood movies including The Great Gatsby, Amistad, and 27 Dresses.

Château-sur-Mer Mansion
Built for a China Trade merchant, this 1852 stone villa is one of the greatest Victorian houses in America and a National Historic Landmark.

It was the grandest of Newport mansions until the arrival of the great Vanderbilt houses in the 1890s, and was home to a Rhode Island governor and U.S. senator. Its grounds include rare specimen trees, a Chinese moongate, and a Colonial Revival garden pavilion.

Isaac Bell House
A restoration work in progress, this National Historic Landmark is one of the finest examples of shingle-style architecture in America. Built in 1883 by McKim, Mead and White, it combines Old English and European architecture with Colonial American and exotic details, such as a Japanese-inspired open floor plan and bamboo-style porch columns.

Chepstow Mansion
This Italianate-style villa designed by architect George Champlin Mason in 1860 houses a collection of 19th century landscape paintings by Hudson River school artists. Tours by reservation only.

Hunter House
This National Historic Landmark was built in 1748 by a prosperous sea merchant. Noted for its superbly carved and grained woodwork, it also houses a fine collection of Townsend and Goddard furniture.

Rough Point
Originally built in the late 1800s as a Vanderbilt vacation home at the south end of Bellevue Avenue, Rough Point is a stunning mansion and museum with sweeping panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean.

The museum’s renowned collection of art, furniture, and fashion is courtesy of Rough Point’s most famous owner, Doris Duke, the heiress and preservationist known as “the richest little girl in the world”.

Belcourt of Newport
The third largest mansion in Newport, the 44,000-square-foot Belcourt is designed in a myriad of European periods and styles ranging from French Renaissance to Gothic. It reflects the diverse tastes of its numerous owners, including socialite Oliver Belmont and Alva Erskine Smith Vanderbilt Belmont, a major figure in the American women’s suffrage movement.
