The Pitcher Inn is a Relais & Châteaux luxury inn offering two spacious, family-friendly two-bedroom suites and nine extraordinary guest rooms. Our casual two-bedroom suites are set in the “barn,” and nine intimate guest rooms are found in the main house.

LODGE
Lodge’s romantic décor is built upon ancient classical images. The eagle-topped bed is reminiscent of Cleopatra’s throne and faces a magnificent fireplace.

Lodge’s luxurious bathroom, composed of enormous marble slabs, evokes the great baths of Rome. Accommodations include a steam room, shower, and a deep, jetted tub. With an exceptional list of complimentary amenities and activities, Lodge is a mystical escape.

MOUNTAIN
Mountain has an indulgent cabin-in-the-woods ambiance, rough-hewn yet well-appointed. Luxury lodging features a king-size bed in a replicated fire-tower and wonderfully lush décor.

The sitting area includes an impressive slate fireplace and super-comfy easy chairs. You’ll find a wet bar and a fabulous bathroom with a black slate steam shower, double sinks, and jetted soaking tub. With a wide range of complimentary activities or excursions into the Waitsfield area, your magical escape to Mountain will be exceptional.

TROUT
Trout’s accommodations include a comfortable tree-trunk bed carved with fiddlehead ferns and a fine collection of original art and sporting prints.

The private porch over the trout-filled brook will have you dreaming of fishing and sleeping serenely. The luxury bathroom has a birch-framed mirror and an antique Vermont Verde marble vanity. Trout is a Vermont haven, after a day of complimentary activities or adventures in the Mad River Valley.

COLONIAL
Colonial is a tribute to The Pitcher Inn’s early days as a simple 18th-century farmhouse at the center of the tiny village of Warren, Vermont.

Our attentive staff will prepare twin beds or a single king-sized bed, with a romantic fire burning merrily in the hearth, and lace curtains pulled back to reveal Main Street and the Warren Store. Colonial is well-appointed for living well.

FOOD & WINE
The Pitcher Inn is home to a Relais & Châteaux fine dining experience, where fresh and seasonal ingredients come together for an inspired and sophisticated farm-to-table menu. Paired with a vintage wine or a craft beer, a meal at The Pitcher Inn is exceptional.

Wine Spectator honored The Pitcher Inn with its “Best Award of Excellence” for our wine cellar, featuring nearly 500 bottles, from small producers and some of the world’s finest wine growing regions.

We welcome you to choose from two delightful dining rooms: The main Dining Room – an elegantly casual space with charcoal walls, cherry tables, and a cognac leather Chesterfield sofa surveying the village center – or Tracks – casual yet refined with a deep backcountry décor that invites you to sink into comfy living-room-style seating. AMENITIES
The Pitcher Inn is a realm of luxury, serenity, and comfort. Many of our guest accommodations include wood-burning fireplaces or warming wood stoves, some a balcony overlooking a brook, or the village of Warren. You may indulge in a private massage or an abundance of complimentary amenities and activities.

Slumber in deep, inviting beds fitted with luxurious linens and down duvets. All rooms are equipped with their own Nespresso machines and a variety of unique coffee blends.

The Inn’s luxury guest baths are stocked with thick towels, bathrobes, Frette slippers and natural bath products from Whisper Hill of Quechee, Vermont. All bathrooms have a jetted soaking tub and many, a separate steam shower. We provide daily housekeeping for multi-day guests unless you request otherwise.

One of our favorite elopements to The Pitcher Inn involved a couple who gave their loved ones only 2 ½ hours to “come as you are” to The Pitcher Inn in Vermont for a romantic surprise wedding. (Luckily they followed the elopement ceremony with an exceptional fine dining experience here at the Inn.)

THINGS TO DO IN WARREN, VERMONT
The Pitcher Inn offers abundant complimentary activities and makes a world-class base camp for exploring the Green Mountain State. The Waitsfield area offers wonderful four-season activities from kayaking the Mad River to flying a sailplane over the surrounding peaks, antiquing to maple sugaring—and, of course golfing at Sugarbush Golf Resort.

Winter is magical here in Vermont. Sugarbush Resort is five minutes away and Mad River Glen is just up the road. Our concierge can direct you to activities with our friends in the Mad River Valley, making reservations, securing tickets and arranging transportation.

WARREN STORE
One of Vermont’s authentic and almost famous country stores, complete with a potbelly stove, the best shopping, local craft beers – and the most delightful deli and bakery in the universe, the Warren Store is right across from The Pitcher Inn. No need to bring your wallet: anything you buy at the store can be charged to your room! Open daily 7:30 am to 5 pm.

EDGEWATER GALLERY
Inn guests enjoy art hopping around the valley and sometimes will venture further afield to visit Edgewater Gallery in Middlebury, about an hour’s drive from Warren.

Edgewater is a fine art gallery that features a broad range of Vermont artists, including painters Kathryn Milillo, Julia Purinton, Rory Jackson and Kathleen Kolb, as well as many others, at two locations, Edgewater Gallery on the Green and Edgewater Gallery at the Falls.

In addition to paintings, the galleries display photography, sculpture, ceramics, furniture and jewelry. Edgewater curates the art at the inn, hosts special exhibitions, and occasionally presents “art-talk” events featuring notable artists and dinner at the inn. SUGARBUSH SKI AND GOLF RESORT
World-renowned Sugarbush Resort, is one of our most famous local businesses, and it’s right here in the Mad River Valley, only 5 minutes from The Pitcher Inn.

Some of the best alpine and cross-country skiing, snowboarding and snowshoeing happens here. And there is fun for all of Vermont’s remarkable seasons. Hiking, tennis, golf and disc golf, zipline and ski lift rides, and plenty of great kids programs.

MAD RIVER GLEN
Mad River Glen, of “Ski It If You Can” fame, was established in 1948 as a bastion for skiing purists; it remains true to its mission today as the only cooperatively-owned ski area in the country.

Mad River focuses on narrow, wooded trails and natural snow; snow-boarding is not permitted. Mad River Glen’s terrain has been ranked the “most challenging” on the East Coast by Ski Magazine.

THE INN AT NEWPORT RANCH
If you like The Pitcher Inn you should feel right at home at the Inn at Newport Ranch on the beautiful Mendocino Coast of northern California, just a 3-½ hour drive north of San Francisco.

Both inns were designed by our Vermont friends David Sellers and Jim Sanford. Dave was voted one of the 100 best architects in the world some years ago by Architectural Digest. So, as you might expect, each inn is special and unique in its own way.

The Inn at Newport Ranch has almost two miles of frontage on the Pacific Ocean and is part of a 2,000-acre cattle ranch. There are 20 miles of trails along the coast and through the redwood forest to explore by horseback, on foot or with a guide on a five passenger UTV.

There are carefully sited picnic tables scattered throughout the property to capture the breathtaking panoramic views. It’s easy to just unwind and be restored by the natural beauty of the place.
