Mademoiselle Henriette Reboul, renowned as an antiques collector and a love priestess bought this private mansion dating from 1789 in 1903. She reputedly had numerous celebrity friends, lovers and mistresses, who all took abode in this magnificent residence.

Henriette Reboul’s residence took on a new lease of life under the magic wand of talented architects, Laure Juhen and Louis Mariotti and became this splendid boutique hotel in the Mazarin area: called “La Maison d’Aix”.

After three years of refurbishments, Laure and Louis have risen to this incredible challenge: the elusive Henriette Reboul’s spirit and sensual touch is still in the atmosphere. The finished work is in keeping with the original style and quite incredible.

The French Artisans Guild (Cabinet makers, Painters and Masons) have toiled with passion and unbridled talent to transform Henriette Reboul’s residence into a luxurious, discreet and exclusive boutique hotel in the heart of the Mazarin area, a few moments away from the famous Mirabeau square.

Step back in time, away from the hustle and bustle of Aix en Provence to a Jerusalem stone clad floor, 300 year old teak parquet floors in the bedrooms and superb contemporary furniture.

Each precious moment spent at la Maison d’Aix is pure escapism. Write a Novella, daydream, indulge in peaceful and restful moments and reconnect. La Maison d’Aix is a journey on the Nile.

AIX EN PROVENCE
There is no more sunny and celebrity-rich part of France than Provence, this iconic wedge of glittering coast, mountain retreat, Roman temple and gastronomic Art de Vivre. Travelling in Provence means sensual sauntering through scented lavender fields and vineyards, around vibrant morning markets, and along paradisaical shores lapped by clear turquoise waters.

At just 20 minutes far from Marignane Airport, the cultural capital of Provence : Aix en Provence radiates artistic elegance. The hometown of Paul Cézanne and his friend, the writer Emile Zola, Aix-en-Provence enjoys an idyllic Mediterranean setting and a lively student-led atmosphere.

Aix en Provence is all class: its plane tree–shaded boulevards and public squares are lined with 17th- and 18th-century mansions, such as La Maison d’Aix built in 1789, and punctuated by gurgling, moss-covered fountains.

The city’s grandest avenue, cours Mirabeau, is guarded by haughty stone lions – and by fashionable Aixois sipping espresso on wicker chairs on elegant café terraces. Living is stylish, landscapes are lyrical. Aix en Provence is an old-fashioned love affair that never dies.

LOVE SUITE
Imagine yourself escaping to 7th heaven. Maybe for a cruise along the Nile. Pen a novel or admire the view of the Sainte Victoire from the terrace.

Step into the shoes of a 19th century novel hero or maybe pretend to reenact the part from one of Henriette’s romantic escapes. This is the world you will retreat to once past the doors of the Love Suite. From hereon, recreate your own adventures and memories.

LA CHAMBRE D’HENRIETTE

LE JARDIN SECRET
During the siesta hours at the peak of the midday heat when the birds and cicadas pipe down, Henriette took refuge in this intimate sanctuary. Henriettes private life still echoes in this secluded Secret Garden room. The shuttered windows filtered the piercing sun rays that beat down on the residence’s exterior.

The architect, Laura Juhen , has cleverly recreated a heady cocoon through the subtle marriage of colours and volumes. The Secret Garden room is your elegant and private haven for your sejourn in Cezanne’s town.

LE CORSET
Henriette favored this hideaway of luxuriousness to pamper her beauty in readiness for her amorous « rendez-vous ». The quiet and cool interior in this unique place appealed to Henriette’s senses.

She often sat at the window overlooking the magnificent Aix style garden. Only slight architectural departures from the local style have been introduced with touches of black and white.

The room showcases sophisticated, unadulterated raw materials. A Venetian mirror sits happily alongside a piece of 300 year old teak furniture. The Corset room is the ideal « pied-a-terre » for a memorable provencal stay.

Champagne, fine wines, exotic fruits, Henriette liked to entertain in the Salon Rouge. long conversations which continued into the depths of the night, by candlelight whilst the gramophone played the latest songs. There are historical records of Cezanne, Picasso, Prince Grimaldi and his numerous well known friends meeting at dusk to debate and philosophize.
