ROOMS & SUITES
The direction of architect Andrea Fogli in the design of each space and the composition of the furnishings is at the heart of the harmony and balance that can be experienced at Hotel Excelsior.
In the rooms & suites, the white furnishings meet cream-coloured walls, aged leather, wood and ecru fabrics. In the bathrooms, marble plays a starring role, with its precious mosaics and showers that overlook the sea through a large window. Artisanship and old-world skills are applied in an original way to lend an airy, timeless effect to each room.
All the rooms at the Excelsior in Pesaro guarantee a 5-star hotel experience: with attention being paid to every single detail and equipped with high quality amenities, they almost always have a special view of the sea or, alternatively, of the city.

PESARO & SURROUNDINGS
Pesaro, Le Marche: the new frontiers of elite tourism, which for several years now has discovered the magic of these lands and continues to be carried away, enraptured, to discover wonderful stretches of coastline, sunny countryside, rolling hills and villages of rare beauty.
The Marche coast hides a secret: it is the Monte San Bartolo Natural Park, which, with its sheer cliffs overlooking the sea, draws a unique landscape made up of small bays, romantic inlets and evocative paths through the greenery, between the yellow of the flowering broom and the blue of the Adriatic.
The hinterland is no less impressive: a few kilometres and the landscape changes, mutates and transforms. Here we see, in this order, the medieval villages of Novilara and Mombaroccio; the castle of Montefabbri; Piagge, with its farms and rolling hills dotted with olive groves and vineyards.
Then, to conclude a wonderful tour, the Ducal Palace in Urbino and the Frasassi Caves. Surrender to the charm of Pesaro and its surroundings: discover Le Marche!
GRADARA
The village, the fortress, the love story of Paolo and Francesca. Just 15 kilometers from the Excelsior, an enchanted village waiting to be discovered.
Gradara, inextricably linked to the love story of Paolo and Francesca sung by Dante, still preserves intact the charm of an ancient medieval village, surrounded by a scenic city wall characterized by imposing towers and characteristic square embattled towers.
The magic of the village manifests itself from the first access, which takes place through the Porta dell’Orologio: from there, along via Umberto I on which low buildings with shops and convent places are built, you reach the intermediate wall, which separates the village from the Rocca, a sublime example of a perfectly preserved medieval structure:
The original structure dates back to the 12th century (although it was repeatedly modified under the rule of the Malatesta family first and subsequently the Sforza family); The interiors are furnished with valuable furniture and embellished with famous paintings, frescoes and altarpieces.
Around the castle, do not miss the Path of Lovers, a scenic walkway that surrounds the hill offering breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside and the sea of Pesaro, a wonderful patch of blue on the horizon.
MERCATELLO SUL METAURO
Mercatello sul Metauro, which was one of the most important villages of the ancient region of Massa Trabaria, has kept the medieval aspect of its historic core intact, characterized by an imposing walled enclosure between 2 streams of water: the Metauro and the Sant’Antonio.
Strolling through the streets of the village brings your mind back to its glorious past: the central Piazza Garibal of the Collegiate church, of Romanesque layout, with beautiful gothic windows and an ancient Byzantine icon depicting the Madonna delle Grazie, kept in a precious gilded and painted wooden case.
The Collegiate Museum has a large collection of sacred furnishings; The Church of San Francesco, located in the square of the same name, is a beautiful building in Romanesque-Gothic style, a treasure chest of precious works of art: in the apse you can find the table of the crucifix by Giovanni da Rimini from the fourteenth-century and the sepulchral monument of Bartolomeo Brancaleoni, lord of Mercatello.
After such an immersion in art and history, a culinary stop is a must: the Mercatello area is renowned for its black and white truffles, the undisputed protagonists of the local gastronomy.
FRONTINO
Frontino, the smallest town in the Province of Pesaro and Urbino, is entirely incorporated into the Natural Park of Sasso Simone and Simoncello, full of beautiful panoramic views and dominated by the imposing profile of Monte Carpegna.
The pride of the town is the convent Montefiorentino from the thirteenth-century, one of the largest in the Marche that according to tradition was founded by San Francesco. The convent includes a small cloister and houses the Renaissance Cappella dei Conti Oliva, with a splendid altarpiece by Giovanni Santi, father of Raphael.
The monastery of San Girolamo is also a suggestive place, surrounded as it is by centuries-old oaks and an ethereal peace. Recently restored, today it is used as a period residence, consisting of a church, convent and a service annex.
MONDAVIO
Set on a gentle hill that rises between the valleys of the Metauro and Cesano rivers, with enchanting panoramic views ranging from the Apennines to the Adriatic and the splendid historic center of Mondavio is among the best preserved in the Marche. Protected by a mighty wall and defended by a mighty fortress, it preserves the signs of a glorious past in the palaces and churches.
The fortress is the main monument and symbol of Mondavio; was commissioned by Giovanni della Rovere to the Sienese military architect Francesco di Giorgio Martini and built between 1482 and 1492.
Today it is the seat of the Museum of Historical Reenactment and Armory, with mannequins in costume and weapons from the 15th to the 18th century. In the moat of the rock the park of “war machines” of Francesco di Giorgio Martini, with faithful reconstructions with real size of catapults, trebuchets, bombards and other siege machinery.
The historic centre is characterized by the presence of important monuments: the Palazzo dei Malatesta, the Church of San Francesco, the Palazzo della Comunanza and the Apollo Theater, built in the mid-eighteenth century on the remains of a fifteenth century church.
MONDOLFO
Characteristic and fascinating, the ancient village of Mondolfo is placed like a balcony overlooking the sea. The heart of the ancient castle is the large central square dominated by the Town Hall, from which picturesque alleys and evocative stairways can be seen; next to it stands the Collegiate Church of Santa Giustina, whose baroque interior preserves an eighteenth-century organ by Gaetano Callido; in the Oratory of San Giovanni Decollato there is a crucifix believed to be miraculous and a Baroque canvas depicting Salome with the head of San Giovanni.
Among the noteworthy civil buildings, Palazzo Giraldi della Rovere, Palazzo Peruzzi and the Bastione Sant’Anna, today an elegant Italian garden, are worthy of mention. Not to be missed outside the walls, the Church and Convent of Sant’Agostino, the Convent of San Sebastiano and the Abbey of San Gervasio, in which an important Ravenna sarcophagus is guarded.
A few kilometers from the historic centre, the town Marotta is a pleasant seaside resort, recently awarded the Blue Flag. The dual soul of Mondolfo, peasant and seafaring, is reflected in the typical products and in the cuisine, a splendid combination of fish and flour. An example above all, spaghetti alla mondolfese, seasoned with a rich sauce based on tuna and anchovies.
