A small corner of paradise in an area of 22 hectares that will offer a peaceful and relaxing stay, so rare in today’s society. The idea of the land, the desire to rediscover those natural and simple values was the impulse that led me to buy a farm and some land to create the La Sovana farmhouse.

THE HISTORY
“The history of my family has always been tied to the land, as a child I worked with my father Mario in the Umbrian farms, between Tavernelle and Panicale. Before many others, we purchased tractors and agricultural machinery to work as subcontractors in winter.

Even then my father’s wish was to buy a small farm with some lands, but various circumstances prevented the deal. Meanwhile I started marketing petroleum products with my brother h as a family activity.

In 1975 I married Giovannella and the following year was born my son Riccardo , in 1978 my daughter Francesca. Even though still in my head the dream of a land, the desire to live follow a natural rhythms and simplicity.

It was always in my mind the idea of my father, who died at ‘ age of 66 years, to buy a farm and a bit ‘of land. Finally I found La Sovana and when I saw the property, I fallen in love immediately. It was the house I was looking for. In the 1986 La Sovana was born”

DINING
Restaurant La Sovana welcomes their guests e in an attractive location with large windows, that look over the Tuscan hills, olive groves and vineyards surrounding the farm. The dining room is cozy and quiet and in the summer time the tables are laid in the shade of the gazebo where you can sit back and be lulled by the gentle breeze, while sipping a glass of wine from Olive- Le Buche Winery.

Traditionally our family dines every evening in the company of their guests offering typical dishes based on high quality products that come mainly from the family orchard, cultivated with care and love. The utmost attention is paid to each dish, the pasta is homemade and all the ingredients are strictly local to make known the true quality of Tuscan gastronomy.

THE RESTAURANT
The dining room for fall and spring season is characterized by rusticity and modernity and at the same time: an ideal place for tasting the gourmet dishes. Its warm and homely atmosphere makes our guests feel like at home.

From the big windows you can enjoy the vineyards and olives view. In summer season under a starry sky, the quietness of the La Sovana gardens after sunset provide for your dinner a magical, romantic and highly suggestive atmosphere.

GIOVANNELLA’S KITCHEN
The dishes prepared by the skilled hands of Giovannella have a little extra. She revisits in a modern way the traditional classic Tuscany meal, Giovannella add that extra touch to exalt scents and flavours. Fresh product, first quality and from neighbours farm, to have always the best ingredients to create fabulous meals; the dishes are the perfect match with our wines form Olivi – Le Buche Winery

SNACK BAR
Snacks and cold dishes for lunch with reservation until noon. Snacks will be served at the outdoor tables of the restaurant to fully enjoy the beautiful spring and summer days. Typical cold cuts and cheeses, high quality product from local producers, fresh salads; simple and quick dishes but rich in taste. In the evening enjoy an aperitif with our wines in the garden.

EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL
Azienda Agricola La Sovana is nestled in the lovely landscape of the hills near Siena, in a territory that is one of the most fruitful areas for olive cultivation. We put great care in the management of our olive groves extending 12 hectares with 4,000 plants of typical Tuscan olive varieties, such as Leccino, Moraiolo, Coreggiolo.

The harvest is made strictly by hand before the olives are completely ripe, allows us to produce high quality oil that has obtained the DOP certification by the Consortium for the protection of extra virgin olive oil DOP Terre di Siena.

THE OLIVE MILL
To give more quality to our extra virgin olive oil in 2007 we purchased and operate an oil mill that allows us to grind the olives within 24 hours. A cold mechanical grinding mill that gives our greater complexity of the product and an extraordinary quality of olive oil.

THE SWIMMING POOL
After a long time passed to discover the beauty of Tuscany take a relaxing moment in our swimming pool overlooking the vineyards and Tuscan hills. Treat yourself to a real emotional experience in Nature’s colours with your partner, family or friends.

JACUZZI
Not too far from the pool there is a 4 seater Jacuzzi for adults, ideal for relaxing and enjoying the beautiful landscape that surrounds La Sovana . The Jacuzzi is available to guests of La Sovana free.

TENNIS COURT
La Sovana has 2 tennis courts with synthetic grass located within walking distance from the accommodation. The tennis court is ideal for those who love to spend their holidays in a dynamic way. Tennis private lessons are available with professional tennis teacher of Chiusi Tennis Club.

An experience in nature, a ride in the Tuscan countryside, a tour with a maps in the vineyards, a tasting of three wines and a light lunch. Choose your times, choose the route and enjoy cycling in Tuscany. Reservation required minimum 24h in advance from monday to friday; 48h from saturday to sunday

An unique excursion to visit Agriturismo La Sovana and Olivi- Le Buche winery by E-bike. This experience will allow you to discover all the secrets of our properties, in the open air, enjoying the greenery and the nature, all with a pedal …of course assisted!

You will have an e-bike with aluminium frame, 29 wheels, Yamaha engine with 500w battery. You will be given the helmet, the repair kit, the backpack. And you will be ready to begin the adventure!

Are you ready? Your adventure will begin after a rich breakfast with our amazing products, homemade cakes. Well at this point you will be full of energy and you will be ready to leave on your E-Bike.

PICNIC EXPERIENCE
A picnic with a view on the vineyards at Olivi Le Buche Winery is a full experience. It begins at 11.30 am with a visit to our cellars. We will explain to you a bit on vineyard care, grape harvesting and also the wine making process. After the tasting, we will give you directions to reach your picnic area and have your light lunch in a marvellous landscape.

You will get a nice basket with all you need for a perfect “en plein air” lunch: glasses, cutlery, dishes, napkins, a bottle of Chianti Superiore DOCG, a bottle of our extra virgin olive oil DOP, and a selection of typical products of our region: fresh bread, cold cuts, pecorino cheese, some local grown vegetables like fresh tomatoes, cantucci biscotti or other homemade biscuits and water. Depending on your taste, you can also change the type of wine if you particularly liked one during the tasting, or are curious to taste something else.

VESPA TOUR
Jumping into a Vespa is so much more than simply taking a tour. It is an intense and engaging experience. The Vespa is undoubtedly the best means of transport to travel ecologically and peacefully.

By the Vespa you will be able to fully enjoy the multicoloured landscapes and you will be able to take a break visiting a very old church on a hilltop or relaxing in the shadow of a centuries-old oak . Get on Vespa and going on a cultural, gastronomic and naturalistic tour will be an unforgettable experience which lets you leave in this area a piece of your heart.

TREKKING
Explore the nature with a trekking guide; you don’t need to be a trained walkers, there are a lot of different itinerary around La Sovana.

HORSE RIDING
If you are a horse lover, book an experience in a riding center not so far from La Sovana, with facilities of different characteristics and soil suitable for any need, from show jumping, dressage and gallop. Activities include horseback riding lessons for all skill levels and guided excursions in the beautiful surrounding countryside

TRUFFLE HUNTING
Do you want to try at least once in life the excitement of participating in the truffle hunt with beautiful dogs? Accompanied by a professional guide with his dogs, you can have a wonderful experience in researching for truffle in oak forest. Available only in fall season.
