Villa Marta is an eighteenth century villa built for hunting reasons. It is 5 km from the city centre of Lucca, in the countryside that separates Pisa from Lucca.

Characterized by its elegant and comfortable furniture, it has 18 rooms, 2 of which are deluxe rooms located on the third floor of the villa and in the dependance. There is a pool, a well-finished garden, free Wi-Fi and two big car parks available to the guests.

Inside the villa there is the Botton D’Oro restaurant. It is always open apart from Sundays and it proposes tasty and valued dishes in a romantic ambience. The restaurant has a big terrace for summer nights and it is perfect for special dinners and theme events.

Today Hotel Villa Marta is a four star hotel with 15 rooms divided in 3 typologies: classic rooms, classic rooms with view and deluxe rooms. All rooms are decorated in provencal style and have their own peculiarity thanks to the furniture and the textiles.

The Classic rooms, comfortable and bright, are located on the ground floor of the dependance and they are distinguished by their privacy thanks to a separate entrance.

The Classic rooms with view are situated on the first and second floors and all have a unique landscape view: to the south-west there are the Pisani mountains, to the east there is a terraced hill with olive plants and the chapel, to the north-west there is the countryside, with the typical courtyards of Lucca.

The Deluxe rooms, with their L shape, represent the best typology to enjoy a 180 degrees view of the countryside. They also have well-finished bathrooms. The hotel offers free Wi-Fi connection, which is available in every common area, indoors and outdoors, such as the pool, the garden and the “green living room”, in the bar and in the restaurant.

THE HISTORY
Villa Marta Hotel is a classic example of an 18th century Villa located in the city of Lucca. Its name comes from the last owner who lived here: Mrs Marta.

The hotel is located in a high and sunny position. Inside the complex there is a newer building, the dependance (the servants’ house), a huge garden from the nineteenth century with a combination of Mediterranean and exotic plants, a neo-classic chapel and a modern pool next to a welcoming green space.

Two converging staircases and the emblem of the Scatena family lead to the reception room. Today Villa Marta is decorated with elegant and comfortable furniture, some of which come from the family who built the house.

The floor of the hall, covered with Tessieri tiles, the big French doors leading into the garden, and the frescos of one of the deluxe rooms, reveal that the Villa was built for hunting purposes.

The ground floor, previously dedicated to the kitchens, is today the location of the Botton D’oro restaurant, where the main decorations are cotto tiles, serena stone, rafters and terracotta bricks. The stunning park with magnolias, pines, camelias, palms and flower beds (boxes?) is divided in different areas.

In the past, the one in front of the main entrance, defined by columns with flowers on top, was destined to everyday life, while the rest of the park was dedicated exclusively to men’s use. (to the use of the hunters)? Opposite the main entrance there is still a consecrated neoclassic chapel with a ceiling of frescos enlightened by a starry sky.

CHAPEL SUITE
Our Suite consists of a central nave, where the bed is located with a relaxation area, and two side rooms in which the bathroom is located on one side and the closet with bathtub in the other. The central nave was kept in the original state, with hand-made low relief decorations on the sidewalls and gorgeous vaulted ceiling frescoes.

The structure of the large bed was handmade by a local carpenter as well as all the other furnishings inside it. The side niches, paved with Carrara marble, feature a very exclusive gold-plated bathroom. The baroque style bathtub, also golden, gives the environment a touch of magnificence and elegance.

In addition to the exclusive value, our Suite is a historical and artistic heritage of our territory that we want to offer our guests for a unique and authentic experience. Tuscany. Our new Suite is the result of the restoration of the small chapel that Francesco Scatena built inside the property in the mid 1800’s for exclusive private use of the family.

The project of the Spanish architect Lucia Gimenez, is aimed at one side to preserve the historical and artistic elements and on the other side to create a really luxurious and comfortable accommodation, with elegant and prestigious finishes, according to the original style of the chapel. The guests who choose our suite will have a private and direct access to the wonderful olive grove, located behind the chapel.

CLASSIC ROOM
These are located on the groundfloor of the dependance and they are well decorated with a sober Tuscan style. Theyare perfect for families and people who like a convenient and comfortablestaying without losing their taste for the elegance.

Queen-size double bed and/or separate bed on demand. It is possible touse it as single bed. In some of the rooms there is the possibility to add a cot or a third bed.

This kind of room is designed to offer a total comfort to families withkids, thanks to its easy access being on the ground floor. Some of them have a separate access and a bathroom with a semi movableshower.

THE RESTAURANT
On the ground floor of the hotel there is the Botton D’Oro restaurant, a well-known restaurant to the city. It is famous for its traditional cuisine, but at the same time, it pays attention to the expectations of international guests. The restaurant has only a few seats to guarantee an impeccable service and fresh dishes.

For this reason it is recommended to book in advance. As you can see from the pictures the restaurant has a refined and polished style. Every decorative detail is designed to create a comfortable and informal environment without losing the elegance that characterizes the hotel.

During high season the restaurant is open every evening except Sundays, while during low season it is open only on Friday and Saturday evenings. For people who want to stop by for lunch or have dinner during closing days, the restaurant proposes a Bistrot menu with fresh and light dishes.

SWIMMING POOL & GARDEN
Villa Marta Hotel is located in the centre of a beautiful park of 6000 q. The flora of the park is intentionally homogeneous. In addition to local plants such as pines, rosemary and olive trees there are other plants from tropical climates such as palms. Inside the park, in a separate area, there is the pool.

This area has sun beds and beach chairs to guarantee the utmost relax for the guests. Next to the pool there is a pergola where It is possible to sit at the table and have a cocktail or enjoy a good coffee. From this side of the park you can enjoy the beautiful hills of Lucca, full of olive trees and vineyards; a real Tuscan holiday.

MASSAGES
To enjoy your relaxing holiday, Villa Marta Hotel disposes of a special massages service. The service is not for free. During the summer the body massage takes place in the open air, surrounded by the marvellous park, while during winter they take place in your room.

BIKE RENTAL
Villa Marta Hotel is only 4 km far from Lucca city centre, so you can reach it also by bike. The Hotel has a bike rental and gives you the possibility to rent bikes at a special price. 5 Euros per person for half day or 10 Euro per person for the entire day. Staff is available for information about distances, itineraries or fixing your bike.
