It is difficult not to take away with you the light of this land, its scents and flavours, the joys of travel and discovery, the continuous sense of wonder. Nature. Beauty. Tradition. It’s time to relax, reconnect, let yourself be pampered. Nestled in the Gallura countryside, soaking up all the peace and charm of this stunning corner of Sardinia.

Many years ago, my parents Giorgia and Emmanuel fell in love with this delightful corner of Sardinia and dreamed of building a summer retreat here for myself and my four brothers – Timothy, Michael, Daniele and Beniamino. Today that retreat has become the Albero Capovolto, meaning “Upside-Down Tree”, a name that underlines the fundamental value of our roots.

ROOMS & SUITES
Albero Capovolto offers seven rooms and suites, each different, and each welcoming and romantic. All of the rooms feature meticulous attention to detail, with individually selected furnishings and fabrics, elegant private bathrooms, and views of the plants and flowers that illuminate our garden.

The light, the breeze, and the colours and scents of nature flood every one of our rooms, which is why we made the choice not to add TVs. A place to read, reflect, dream.

LUCE
This room is a shining star, filled with fresh and pure light. Gentle breezes ruffle the curtains to reveal the bright colours of the bougainvillea which covers the pergola, carrying in the heady scents of the native vegetation.

INTIMITA’
This room is steeped in happy memories. From the photos on the walls to the family embroidery and fine fabrics of the curtains and bedspread, and the antique furnishings and ceramics. A comfortable, cosy and intimate nest in which to rest, meditate, and let time simply flow.

INCANTO
This room inspires amazement, enchantment and wonder. The view over the countryside, the gently lingering sunset and the sense of total privacy convey the feeling of floating, surrounded by the flowers and plants of a luxuriant Mediterranean garden. Pure peace, nature and harmony.

RESPIRO
This spacious room invites you to breathe: breathe in the constant gentle breeze that passes through it, providing profound restfulness, breathe in the memories, from photos and precious fabrics, which envelop guests in a soothing atmosphere of absolute relaxation.

The philosophy behind our cuisine is to accompany our guests on a journey to discover genuine flavours, closely linked to the traditions of the region.

Knowledge of the finest local producers and carefully selected raw materials ensure each dish from the Albero Capovolto kitchen is authentic and perfectly balanced. Our staff put all their experience and passion into bringing you the very best home-cooked flavours and aromas.

THE BREAKFAST
A rich buffet of genuine, locally-sourced products prepared with care and passion every morning, offering you a calm awakening full of sensations, colours and home-cooked flavours.

A moment for you to enjoy views over the countryside at sunrise, and plan your day exploring the region. We believe that every morning should begin with energy, joy and the promise of an amazing day.

THE APERITIF
Take advantage of the peace and tranquillity of the afternoon hours to explore fare from the best wineries, craft breweries and distilleries of the island, united by their knowledge of the land and native blooms, respect for traditions and carefully selected raw materials.

We recommend trying a different product each day, paired with a platter prepared to order and based on local cheeses, charcuterie and vegetables from the kitchen garden.

THE DINNER
From the beginning of May to the end of October, exclusively by advance reservation, you can explore the typical dishes of northern Sardinia accompanied by the best local wines in an intimate, family-style atmosphere, allowing you to discover a range of unique and authentic flavours each day.

A sumptuous sunset, the aromas from the kitchen and your candlelit dining experience will round off an unforgettable day.

SUNSET TASTINGS
During the season we will host themed evenings with tastings featuring ancient-grain flours, local honeys and cheeses and produce from agricultural breweries and leading local wineries, to discover the authentic and ancient flavours of Sardinia.

Round off your day in perfect style with stories from passionate producers, know-how handed down through the generations, and anecdotes about Sardinian agropastoral traditions.

THE POOL
The pool is at the heart of the house. Nestled amidst olive trees, aromatic herbs and native flowers, a place where you can cool off and enjoy the view of the garden and the surrounding countryside.

Illuminated by the sunrise from the early hours of the morning, and reflecting the sunset in the evening, the pool creates an unforgettable setting. An ideal place to rest and relax, surrounded by nature. Immersed in the Gallura countryside and caressed by the aromas of thyme, helichrysum and rosemary, the pool is pure pleasure.

All around, enveloping seats and comfortable loungers where you can relax, read, rest and contemplate lulled by the sound of the water. To make your holiday as comfortable as possible, each room comes with a pool bag with soft terrycloth towels and relaxation pillows.

THE GARDEN
The garden at Albero Capovolto is a testament to our love of flowers and plants. The variety of native shrubs, wild plants and ornamental flowers creates unexpected corners in which to lose yourself among the changing colours and scents of the seasons.

The orchard and olive grove at the entrance to the house, a special herbarium of aromatic plants and the kitchen garden with seasonal vegetables are just some of the ways we ensure our cooking features genuine local flavours.

The vegetation shelters the house and its guests, for moments of relaxation in total privacy. A tranquillity that inspires reflection and meditation. Our garden offers shaded and hidden corners where guests can practise yoga, surrounded by the scents and colours of nature – we’ll be happy to provide a kit.

MASSAGES
Tucked away in a corner of the garden is the perfect spot for an al fresco wellness treatment. A relaxing massage, with the magic touch of skilful hands and using our own wild herbs, will restore energy and leave you relaxed, so you can make the most of your holiday. An exclusive service created in collaboration with Spa Mediterranea from Cascioni Eco Retreat.

YOGA
You don’t need to be an expert to request a morning yoga lesson with Ornella. Wake up to the tranquil silence of the countryside, dedicate time to your wellness, and enjoy the benefits of meditation before arriving at breakfast thoroughly refreshed. You can complete the experience with a selection of herbal teas or infusions, or freshly squeezed juices.

BOTANICAL WATERCOLOURS
For lovers of drawing or the simple gestures of the past, like sending letters or postcards to loved ones, we will be running a watercolour retreat in the autumn with Sara Operegeniali to create your own botanical travel diary or greetings cards, decorated with the flowers of Sardinia.

COOKERY LESSONS 
Our cookery lessons have been designed for guests to get hands-on with unique, genuine and locally-sourced raw materials. They can then enjoy the fruits of their labour, guided by their imagination and the know-how of experts who put their heart into creating traditional dishes every day. Because the cooking is an art, but also a pleasure we can all learn.

PRIVATE DINNER
Holiday trips are often an occasion to celebrate anniversaries, honeymoons and birthdays. We can transform a corner of the garden into the setting for a private dinner to create unforgettable memories for you and your partner.

PHOTO SHOOT
Memories are kept alive in our hearts and minds, but sometimes it’s nice to be able to revisit and share them. An expert photographer will capture all the smiles and hugs, against the backdrop of our grounds or the nearby beaches, bathed in the unique light of the sunset of northern Sardinia.

EXCURSIONS IN SARDINIA
The countryside means peace, silence, relaxation – the perfect starting point to get to know the incredible region of Gallura and the Costa Smeralda. After a healthy breakfast, set off to discover beaches and coves of unparalleled beauty, with crystal clear waters and pristine sands, as well as hiking and food and wine itineraries that are a feast for the eyes, mind and soul.

Grab a picnic basket with produce prepared by our staff, along with a kit of blankets and cushions, and rediscover the pleasure of living in contact with nature in an unforgettable landscape, under the shade of centuries-old cork trees or in an uncontaminated rural meadow.

An experience designed for those who rarely have the chance to stretch out and simply observe the dappled sunlight filtering through the trees, immersed in the scents and sounds of the countryside, while being pampered with local delicacies.

BEEKEEPING EXPERIENCE
Thanks to a year-round mild climate, uncontaminated vegetation and rich spontaneous flora, Sardinia is renowned for producing a wide range of honeys – each with specific therapeutic, sweetening and nutritional properties.

This visit to the hives will allow you to see some of the most precious insects for our ecosystem up close, and to understand how to protect them. A tasting at the end of the tour will take you through a range of different honeys created based on the native blooms, and their miraculous properties.

SHEPHERDING TRADITIONS
Any visit to Sardinia must include the multitude of tales and traditions behind the production of the typical cheeses of the island. Each product tells its own story, influenced by the pastures and the continuously changing flow of the days and seasons.

An opportunity to learn the skills of cheese making and the agropastoral secrets that contribute to highlighting the value of the territory, while respecting the welfare of the animals.
