A fantastic mountain panorama with 76 three-thousand-metre peaks, fresh mountain air in the Pitztal glacier area, and relaxation in our Naturpark SPA – this is how tempting a stay at Alpine Resort Sportalm can be.

We are down-to-earth, we stick together, we give each other strength, and we carry out our daily work with a lot of passion: welcome to Alpine Resort Sportalm!

Have you learned about our power animal yet? It’s the king of the Alps, the majestic Alpine ibex (or “Steinbock” in German). In it, we recognise many of our values:

  • We love the wild beauty of Pitztal and feel most at home in the mountains.
  • We trust each other wholeheartedly and always put family first.
  • We draw our strength directly from nature.
  • We are deeply rooted in wild, romantic Pitztal.
  • We feel safe and valued through the comfort of family.

And that’s exactly what you feel at our hotel in the tranquil Pitztal village of Plangeroß from the moment you set foot inside.

The warm atmosphere fills every corner, the lovingly decorated rooms furnished with natural materials bring a piece of the mountain region into the hotel, and our family spirit is a constant presence.

So it’s no wonder that we were inspired by the heraldic animal of our St. Leonhard community. Put your hooves up and enjoy your fantastic holiday à la Sportalm!

Who is actually behind your excellent feel-good holiday at Sportalm? You’ll find everything you need to know about your hosts, the Schwarz-Siller family, here. Wonder why we call our family a source of strength?

It’s simple: family comes first for us; we give each other strength and support as well as always being there for each other. And you can feel this family spirit at our resort from the very first moment.

Of course, we are supported by an energetic and unbeatable team, without whom your holiday would not be the same. Sit back and listen to Martin, Angelika, Larissa, Fabian, Grandpa Sepp, Grandma Reini, and Seppi introduce themselves.

DINING
Hmm, what smells so good in here? It’s the extraordinary culinary delights at our hotel in St. Leonhard im Pitztal! Host Angelika is the hub of the hotel restaurant as well as the driving force behind the kitchen and service team.

With a lot of love, our chefs conjure up delicious pick-me-ups, a harmonious interplay of regional and seasonal ingredients, culminating in creative delicacies from traditional and international cuisine. Your mouth is probably watering already, isn’t it? And Angelika hasn’t even introduced you to Sportalm’s pampering board yet.

Imagine waking up in the morning rested in our cosy beds, the sun casting its first delicate rays through the large windows. As soon as you leave your room, you smell the enticing aroma of fresh coffee.

At the breakfast buffet, you find fresh bread from Schranz bakery in Pitztal, traditional alpine butter, local cheeses, yoghurt from the local farm “Anders Hofschank” as well as sausages and eggs from a farm we trust. So, charge up your batteries for a day in the mountains and taste the delicious flavours of Pitztal.

All your gourmet dreams come true with our evening menu. First, ring in the evening with a refreshing aperitif. Our four dining rooms provide the perfect ambience so you can make yourself comfortable in an original Tyrolean Stube (or “parlour” in English) with tiled stove and richly decorated ceilings, or in the modern dining rooms with alpine flair.

With every bite, you embark on a culinary journey through the rustic and traditional delicacies of Pitztal, which blend seamlessly with international creations. These taste explosions are accompanied by selected wines from our wine cellar.

SPA & WELLNESS
Welcome to Naturpark SPA! At our wellness hotel in Pitztal, the name says it all: the dreamlike natural world of Kaunergrat Nature Park can be found in the 1,000m² wellness area with saunas, relaxation rooms, and massages.

Whether you take a dip in the indoor pool, enjoy the impressive mountain landscape as well as the scenic head of the valley from the infinity pool, or work up a good sweat in one of our saunas – as soon as you close your eyes and let your imagination wander, you’ll find yourself in our great outdoors.

Are you wondering how best to leave everyday life behind you? Then pay a visit to the saunas at our wellness hotel in Pitztal! In the panoramic event sauna (90°C), various infusions with special aromas and an impressive view await you.

In the stone pine sauna (65°C), experience the calming effect of the stone pine wood. Or how about a sweat? In the Tyrolean sweat room, you can enjoy rustic Tyrolean flair.

If you prefer humid heat, the steam sauna (47°C) would be just right for you, and in the amethyst healing grotto, you will experience the healing and cleansing effect of this versatile gemstone. From 2 p.m., the entire Naturpark SPA including the fitness park is an adults-only area.

Afterwards, we recommend that you build on this feeling of relaxation. How, you ask? By taking a few moments for yourself in the fragrant Swiss pine panoramic relaxation room, in the Sky Lounge with panoramic view, or in the exquisite quiet zone while letting everything around you drift away.

Access to the sauna and relaxation areas are for guests aged 16 and over, while children can enjoy themselves in our separate family spa. You can work out in our fitness park with all kinds of modern Technogym equipment.

If you want to loosen up your muscles afterwards, we recommend one of our soothing and energising massages. Our spa areas won’t just indulge you with peaceful relaxation, they will also treat you to a spectacular panoramic view of the lawe-inspiring Pitztal mountains and the idyllic head of the valley.

Attention families: If you are spending time at our wellness hotel in Pitztal with your whole herd including kids, you should stop by our family spa!

There’s nothing better than spending quality time with your loved ones, is there? In our family spa, parents with children come first. Grab your little goats and let the bathing and wellness fun begin!

Splash around with your kids in the spacious indoor pool and relax on the loungers. Afterwards, relax with the whole family in the pleasantly warm sauna or amethyst steam bath, where your little ones will feel like real grown-ups.

While Mum treats herself to a relaxing massage, Dad can have fun with the children at the wellness area. After an action-packed and relaxing day, your kids will sink contentedly into the soft pillows of their beds with blissful smiles on their faces and dream of the next exciting adventures.

TREATMENTS
Just imagine: The soft hands of our beauty experts massage your back and release deeply rooted tension. Calm music plays in the background, creating the perfect atmosphere. The massage oils and creams spread fragrant scents of stone pine, arnica, or herbs.

After the massage, you wake up from your trance and feel reborn. This isn’t just a daydream; it becomes a dream come true at Alpine Resort Sportalm!

All of the products we use for the massages and wraps come from the Alpienne natural cosmetics line, which has its distribution centre near us in Pitztal. The oils and creams have a very short transport route and thus pamper you sustainably.

THE KAUNERGRAT NATURE PARK
Do you like untouched natural landscapes, spectacular mountain panoramas, and fresh mountain air? Fun on the slopes in a fantastic glacier area or summer hikes in the natural habitat of the majestic ibexes? Then head to Pitztal!

In the glacier area with a total of 76 three-thousand-metre peaks, bizarre rock formations and imposing mountain giants rise up. Sportalm, our sports hotel in Pitztal, is located in the middle of Kaunergrat Nature Park, the home of our beloved ibexes.

In summer, stalk the graceful king of the Alps and watch them while you enjoy a hike recommended by Grandpa Sepp. In winter, whizz through snow-clad forests on your skis when you take a ski tour with Seppi. Pitztal will captivate and surprise you with all its diversity!

TOURS & HIKING
Pitztal without hiking tours is like Kaunergrat Nature Park without ibexes: unimaginable. The hiking expert par excellence is a senior member of our team, Sepp. The passionate summiteer and mountain connoisseur provides you with plenty of tips for your journey through the entirety of the Tyrolean Alps.

Experience the fascinating balance between natural forces, dreamlike landscapes, and extremes. Going on an impressive hike to a cosy alpine hut or do you want to test your stamina on challenging summit tours?

There is something for every hiker’s taste on the more than 380 kilometres of hiking trails (no matter whether you hike alone, as a couple, with your children, or with your best friends) and the mountain cableways make the ascent easier for you on various tours.

When preparing and planning, Sepp loves to tell you exciting stories, anecdotes, and insider tips from his many years of mountaineering experience. When he was in top athletic condition, he climbed no less than 60,000 metres of altitude per year!

FAMILY HITE TO GLETSCHERSTUBE HUT
This hike is ideally suited for families with prams or pushchairs. From Mittelberg, a flat, wide 30-minute hiking trail leads to Gletscherstube hut at 1,891 metres above sea level. Here, you and your little ones can fortify yourselves and enjoy a magnificent panorama.

HIKE TO BRAUNSCHWEIGER HUT
Braunschweiger hut is located at 2,759 metres and offers a unique panoramic view of the surrounding mountains and valleys. After about an hour’s walk on a relatively flat gravel path, there is a fairly steep climb of about two hours that leads past the Pitze waterfall. After a total of three hours, you will reach Braunschweiger hut with a stunning view of Wildspitze.

SUMMIT TOUR ON MITTAGSKOGEL
How about a three-thousand-metre climb? Go to Mittagskogel! The Gletscherexpress takes you comfortably up to a lofty 2,840 metres. From here, a path leads you through stony terrain to the summit of Mittagskogel (3,159 metres).

Once at the top, you can enjoy a fantastic view of Pitztal, the surrounding mountains, and the glacier. We bet you’ll feel like a climbing ibex on the ascent! Sepp’s tip: On the way back, stop for refreshments at the Kristall glacier restaurant at the top station of the Gletscherexpress cable car!

UP TO WILDSPITZE
At 3,768 metres, Wildspitze really seems to be the roof of Tyrol, the highest mountain in the region. Starting at the Breslauer hut (2,844 metres), the ascent takes about 3.5 hours over stony, rocky, and exposed terrain with secured sections.

First, you’ll climb from the hut in several curves and over secured scree fields to Mitterkarjoch at 3,470 metres. Then you’ll walk across glacier basins and more scree fields to the summit cross. Surefootedness, no fear of heights, and alpine experience are absolutely necessary for this summit tour!

BIKING
What do you think of a challenging and at the same time relaxing bike tour through the stunningly natural Pitztal? A total of 95 kilometres of designated mountain bike trails of varying degrees of difficulty await you here.

What do you like more: a leisurely excursion along a wide gravel path or a demanding tour over steep tracks with bumpy root-covered sections? No matter what you’re in the mood for, at Alpine Resort Sportalm we’ll be happy to advise you on your next biking excursion destination.

How about a quiet tour to Tiefentalalm, for example, accompanied by a picturesque panorama? Or with a tough bike tour via the Jerzen Tanzalm trail to the middle station of the Hochzeiger mountain cableways? Swing into the saddle and off you go!

CLIMBING
Move by move, you inch closer to your goal, your fingers are firmly fused onto the rock face, your body rests against cool stone, and gracefully (like an ibex) you shimmy upwards. After all, the rugged rock faces are our power animal’s favourite terrain!

Behind you, a dreamlike panorama opens up, majestic three-thousand-metre peaks and lush green valleys make the view a picture-perfect panorama. Does this idea give you goose bumps? Then head up one of the climbs and via ferratas!

The Steinwand via ferrata near Arzl in Pitztal is ideal for climbing novices. It offers two ascent options with different levels of difficulty. You can climb up Gletscherpark via ferrata via four routes and then enjoy a magnificent view of the Pitztal glacier.

Advanced climbers will be delighted with the 150 sport climbing routes in Pitztal. How about a visit to the Stillebach/Richi’s Wall climbing area, for example, with 14 routes in difficulty levels from 3 to 6?

Or does your heart beat for more challenging tours in the Plangeroß/Hexenkessel climbing area with its 87 routes in difficulty grades from 5 to 8 and a route length of 8 to 35 metres? The Gletscherstube climbing area also has 47 routes ready for you! No matter what you’re in the mood for, climbing heaven awaits you here.

Are you spending your Pitztal holiday with the whole family? Then the four climbing areas are just right for you! There, your little kids can let off steam and enjoy their first climbing experience, and you too can venture to dizzying heights and take part in a climbing course.

THE ROOF OF TYROL
For you, is winter synonymous with fun on the slopes and in the snow? Then off to Pitztal’s slopes with you! There’s a good reason why Pitztal is known as the “roof of Tyrol” – after all, 76 three-thousand-metre peaks await you here!

From September to May, you can carve down the perfectly groomed slopes on over 96 kilometres of pistes and really work off your energy in the white splendour. On the pistes of the Hochzeiger and Rifflsee ski areas as well as on the Pitztal glacier, you will experience variety and thrilling fun on the slopes in a spectacular winter landscape.

And best of all? Our glacier region treats you to natural snow from December to April! Doesn’t that sound like a winter straight out of a fairy tale? Do you want to go even higher? Then Brunnenkogel at 3,440 metres is the ideal destination for you. The Wildspitzbahn takes you to the highest point in Tyrol that can be reached by cable car.

Before your exciting descent, indulge in a fortifying espresso or a warming tea at the café with its free-floating panorama terrace and enjoy the view of the majestic mountain giants all around. No matter whether your heart beats for skiing, snowboarding, freestyle, or other kinds of skiing: You can live out all your snow dreams on the perfectly groomed slopes in Pitztal.

Freestylers and snowboarders can let off steam in the snow and fun park with rails, boxes, half pipes, and kickers, while skiing beginners and families can have fun on the relaxed beginner slopes.

If you prefer to go downhill on runners, a toboggan run on Hochzeiger is perfect for you: the start of the six-kilometre-long toboggan run is at 2,000 metres above sea level. Whizz down the run and let your whoops of joy ring out!

And how do you get to the ski areas in Pitztal? It’s easy: with the free ski bus, whose stop is just ten metres from our Alpine Resort Sportalm! All aboard and off you go on unforgettable winter adventures!

SKI TOURS
Dreamlike snowy landscapes, a panoramic view of the snow-covered three-thousand-metre peaks, icing-sugar forests – and you right in the middle of it all. In our glacier region, glorious, glistening natural snow awaits you from December to April.

Join Seppi on a leisurely winter or snowshoe hike through the enchanting Pitztal forest, listen to the crunch of the snow under your feet, and renew yourself in the most peaceful and idyllic of winter landscapes.

The highlight: During the winter hike in Pitztal, Seppi will entertain you with exciting stories and fun facts about Pitztal and Kaunergrat Nature Park. Our insider tips: How about a leisurely hike along the edge of the forest around our village of Plangeroß or a spectacular tour through the icy Taschach Gorge? You can also try your hand at ice climbing here.

If you want to increase the pace, you should opt for a ski tour in Pitztal. Here too, Seppi would be happy to accompany you and show you his favourite routes and spots.

After a panoramic ascent, you’ll head back down to the valley along forest paths and through fresh powdery snow. What do you think of a ski tour to Gogles Alm, the icy Rifflsee, or the mighty Taschachferner? Those are just a few examples!

CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING
Does your winter sports heart beat for cross-country skiing? Then Pitztal is the perfect place for you! A network of over 70 kilometres of trails awaits you, including the high-altitude trails on the Pitztal glacier at 2,760 metres above sea level with spectacular views and a 20-kilometre-long valley trail from the village of Wiese to the village of Mandarfen at 1,743 metres above sea level.

If you opt for the cross-country trails in the Rifflsee ski area, you will be skiing at an average of 2,250 metres above sea level. So, it’s no wonder that Mario Stecher, the double Olympic and ten-time World Cup winner in Nordic combined, has declared Pitztal his adopted home!
