The Belvedere Mykonos is a petite Grand Hotel rooted in the tradition of age-old splendour. Elegantly shifting through the decades, it has carried the essence of old Mykonos into the modern age, transforming nostalgia into a genuinely social hospitality experience.

In 2016, the Belvedere celebrated its 20th anniversary with an almighty bang, whose roaring reverberations still echo through the Mykonian summer. The Ioannidis family kicked off the festivities with “Follow the Wind”, an imaginary saga of rekindled love directed by filmmaker Thodoris Papadoulakis.

The film tied into “Your Mykonos Legend” campaign, which spurred a social media frenzy, and culminated in an earth-shattering party. The evening marked the unveiling of the Sunken Watermelon anniversary bar, which has since become a Belvedere staple. The rest is history…

BELVEDERE SUITE
Spectacular Sea View
Located on the first floor, the Belvedere Suite features two terraces that offer uninterrupted sunbathing, as well as the perfect excuse for sunset cocktails. The ever-present trifecta of marble, plaster and wood that make up the Belvedere visual identity, are taken to the next level in the hotel’s most lavishly designed space.

The One and Only
Candlelit and truly spectacular, the Belvedere Suite is a heady mixture of understated elegance and unadulterated mystery – especially after dark. During the daytime, it’s an island of serenity, featuring a 20m² bathroom that simulates a private spa with luxurious amenities and lots of pampering space.

The double sink, carved out of a single slab of marble, articulates a sense of casual opulence that’s reflected on every surface. A walnut screen, hand-carved in Mykonos, separates the king-sized bed from the lounging area, adding a sense of drama to the open-plan version of the suite.

Catering to your every need, this is the most exclusive accommodation option in the entire hotel, attributing legendary status to everyone who’s ever stayed here.

BEST RESTAURANTS & BARS IN MYKONOS

Belvedere Mykonos equals magic, especially when the pool – a swimming and lounging area during the daytime – is suddenly transformed into the centerpiece of a buzzing nightlife scene.

The Belvedere Bar shares this magnificent slice of blue with the recently launched Sunken Watermelon and the tremendously popular Matsuhisa Mykonos. Thea Estiatorio beckons from above, while the Belvedere Cellar is calling you down below. What will it be?

Matsuhisa Mykonos
If you still haven’t found your way to the best sushi in Mykonos, follow the playful “Finding Nobu” sign and you’ll land exactly where you need to be: at the only open-air Nobu restaurant in the world with an outdoors sushi bar.

A Legend in the Making
After a fateful meeting in London in 2003, superstar chef and entrepreneur Nobu Matsuhisa and the Ioannidis siblings joined forces, transforming a mid-19th Century mansion into a restaurant that has become a Mykonos staple.

Opening his first restaurant in Peru in 1972, Nobu Matsuhisa embraced South American and European influences, eventually coining the term New Style Japanese cuisine. Since then, his name has become synonymous to his signature black cod dish, but his repertoire is wider than the ocean.

His Mykonos outpost embraces global favourites, like rock shrimp salad, yellowtail jalapeno, white fish dry miso, salmon karashi su miso and sashimi salad, but you can also find daily specials featuring Greek fish and seafood straight from the Aegean Sea.

The Matsuhisa Experience
The celebrity chef makes regular visits to Mykonos during the annual Nobu Food Festival, infusing the Matsuhisa experience with plenty of “kokoro” (heart and mind).

His favourite pastime is early morning swimming and yoga in the privacy of his favourite Belvedere suite, but nothing beats circulating among the restaurant guests in the evenings. If you’d like a chance to meet him, all you have to do is ask for a table. Worst-case scenario, you’ll sip a Martini while you wait. Problem solved.

Thea Estiatorio
Inaugurated in 2014, Thea Estiatorio has always been a cut above the rest. Practically floating over the Belvedere pool, it is conveniently located on a small terrace with stunning views of the island, offering a private dining experience for up to 30 people.

Authentic Greek Cuisine
This bijou restaurant, recently granted with Greek Cuisine Award, has conquered the hearts and minds of Mykonian gourmands with an unexpected take on Greek cuisine, something the island was sorely lacking in.

Pivoting back to the past with an eye on the future, the menu celebrates authentic Greek cooking for a non-traditional audience. Playing with texture and insisting on thoughtfully sourced ingredients, Thea Estiatorio gives tried-and-true recipes a delicate makeover, infusing the menu with a summery mood.

Moussaka still tastes like the real thing, but it’s now feathery light and beach ready, just like kokkinisto has gone from meal to a pie. Desserts, a category usually overlooked in your average Greek household, has been thoroughly reinvented and even the humble Kormos, a no-bake chocolate & biscuit roll, now toys with haute cuisine.

Authentic Mykonian
Staying true to our story rooted in the tradition, the new Thea Estiatorio menu, reflects authentic Greek flavors with a modern twist. Also, Greek designer Themis Z created an exclusive Belvedere dinnerware collection, inspired by the ever-present winds and waves of Mykonos. As for the restaurant’s name, if it’s all Greek to you, that’s because it was meant to be!

Rise & Shine Breakfast
Although late nights have become the norm at the Belvedere Hotel, the Rise and Shine Breakfast beckons each morning between 8:00 and 11:00 like your reliable best friend.

No matter what you did the night before, you will always return to this artisanal spread, a revolving door of Greek and international delicacies that’s slightly different each day.

Start your Day on a High Note
A fresh selection of local delights activates your palette first thing in the morning, directly sourced from small-batch producers based on the island of Mykonos. The breakfast includes a variety of delicacies , while crusty breads and buttery cakes in seemingly inexhaustible variations, come fresh from the oven.

Sunken Watermelon Cocktail Bar
Originally created to celebrate the Belvedere’s 20th Anniversary and designed by Concept Boarding, the Sunken Watermelon Cocktail Bar offers a concise cocktail list curated by mixologist extraordinaire Christos Chouseas.

Extraordinary Mixology
Sticking to the classics, the bar menu offers six timeless cocktails that have become part of the island’s collective consciousness. Chouseas steers clear of eccentric ingredient combinations and overly complicated recipes, using a hint of nostalgia as the only garnish.

The star of the show is a nuanced rum blend combined with Belvedere’s house-made orange cordial and almond bitters, while some of the drinks feature seasonal ingredients, like prickly pear and beetroot.

The tight cocktail selection is a testament to Chouseas’ legendary attention to detail, so don’t overthink it. There are no wrong choices on this menu.

Belvedere Bar
Did anybody say cocktail? Having fostered a buzzing, boozy scene since the early days of the hotel, the Ioannidis siblings pioneered the mixology trend as early as 2003, before the rest of the country even saw it coming.

Three Shades of Blue
A star-studded collaboration with “King of cocktails” Dale DeGroff upped the ante, adding seven exclusive martinis to the ever-expanding Belvedere Bar menu, courtesy of the man who discovered the Cosmopolitan.

Fresh fruit drinks are another greatest hit that has proved steadily popular in the height of summer. Fully renovated in 2007, the Belvedere Bar is the breeziest bar in Mykonos to get your rocks off on the entire island, combining three different shades of blue, the pool, the sea and the horizon. The shade of the cocktail is up to you.

Poolside Nights
Every summer, the Belvedere Hotel invites guests to step into the groove, courtesy of a carefully curated nostalgia both. Strategically set up at the main bar, it features an exclusive collection of vinyl records that captures the true spirit of Mykonos, from Fleetwood Mac and Prince all the way to Blondie and the Eurythmics.

During the day, guests could pick and choose their own mood – lifters, while DJs laid down the law after dark. The Booth is powered by B&O, featuring a pair of Beolab 50 speakers, a stunning mixture of style, clever engineering and fine sound.

Belvedere Cellar
Travel the world without budging an inch thanks to the award-wining Belvedere Cellar, featuring labels from all over the world. The Belvedere’s wine list gained international recognition when in 2003 it was awarded the “Award of Excellence” from the American Magazine “Wine Spectator”.

In Search of Adventure
Parting from the pool can be sweet sorrow, but once you see what’s in stock just below street level, you won’t regret shedding your swimming trunks.

First gaining international acclaim in 2003 for winning the Wine Spectator Excellence Award – a US-published lifestyle magazine focusing on wine culture – it became a premiere destination for wine lovers in search of new teroirs and little-known winemaking traditions.

The Belvedere Cellar is open to seasoned connoisseurs and beginners alike, and it’s available for wine tastings and private dinners upon request. Join us on the hunt for the perfect vintage!
