In the evening we will spoil you with a healthy salad buffet and a 3-course dinner menu. Our kitchen will entertain your palate with both international and above all traditional cuisine.

The Tauferer Ahrntal is known in all of South Tyrol for its natural biological products. Mountain cheese, honey and jams are all produced by our local famers. We can therefore guarantee you that you are being served only the best natural products.

THE TAUFERER AHRNTAL
The Tauferer Ahrntal is one of the largest valleys in the northernmost part of South Tyrol. You can get here from Bruneck / the Pustertal and it stretches from Gais to Kasern. Awaiting you are large and small adventures on land and water, on the peaks and on hiking tours.

The favorable situation, on the sunny southern side of the Zillertaler Alps, lets the Ahrntals natural world shine in its splendid nature over the whole year.

Its versatility, the mixture between the Mediterranean flair and the Tyrolean culture and of course the imposing nature of the Rieserferner national park with its 80 3000 m high peaks, makes the Ahrntal an exceptional destination.

In addition, Sand in Taufers and the Tauferer Ahrntal won the European Village Renewal Prize in both 2008 and 2010.

REIN IN TAUFERS
It is situated at 1,600 m above sea level, between the Zillertaler Alps and world-famous Dolomites. Surrounded by the Rieserferner-Ahrn national park, one can say that it is a part of untouched nature. The imposing mountains of the Reiserferner group with its 80 3000 m high peaks, are the emblem of the region.

The Hausberg Hochgall at 3,436 m above seal level, is the highest mountain in the region. Without overexaggerating, one can say that the Rein in Taufers is an ideal spot for nature and mountain lovers alike.

“Rius” or “Rivus” – as it’s called in Latin for “river”, hence from this expression was born the name “Rein in Taufers”. The roaring Reinbach River which flows past the village forms three impressive waterfalls in the Reinbach Gorge which can be reached with the Franziskusweg path which was inaugurated in 1985.

REINNATURA
Our hotel is a member of the cooperation group Rein Natura whose aim it is to provide the best of service to our guests as well as a common marketing strategy for host companies in Riva di Tures.

That’s why we offer you a new and suitable portal with lots of ideas all related to successful family and active holidays in the Aurina Valley.

SAND IN TAUFERS
Sand in Taufers, nicknamed „Sand“, is the main town in the Tauferer Ahrntal, and is found exactly in the middle of the valley. The imposing Zillertaler Alps stand behind the town, and looking forward one has a beautiful view into the Pustertal and the Dolomites.

The village is encircled by meadows, woods and mountains in perfect harmony with nature. Just as in the whole of the Tauferer Ahrntal, the locals and the hotels found here put much value on nature and biological products, so that guests receive only the best.

The natural products and the natural experiences are bound to impress. An example would be the nearby Reiner waterfalls.

CASTLE TAUFERS
The beautiful castle Taufers fits in perfectly with the idyllic mountain scenery. The castle, found in Sand in Taufers, looks towards the Pustertal, so that it seems as if it wants to keep the entrance to the Ahrntal under its watch.

The castle was already standing in 1225, but it was only first in the 15th century that it was renovated to become what it is today. A large portion of the castle and its premises are accessible to the public and offers both children and adults alike a thrilling journey into the past.

MINING MUSEUM IN PRETTAU
For over half a millennium copper ore was dug after in the mining museum in Prettau/Steinhaus. Hence the 1,100 m long tunnel came into being.

Equipped with a helmet, light and raincoat, you are taken into the inside of the mountain by a small mine train, where you’ll get an interesting insider tour of the mountain. Next to the two main tunnels is another tunnel, the so-called climate tunnel.

This is intended for persons with respiratory tract diseases and asthma, since there are ideal air hygienic conditions in the mountain which can help to alleviate the symptoms. Many guests value the cave therapy because the strength of the nature has no side effects.

THE HOLY GHOST CHURCH
No one knows exactly when the Holy Ghost Church was built. One thing for sure though is that it served as a squire church for the Prettau mining workers of the copper mine and as protection for the travelers that were passing by.

Characterized by many legends and stories, the chapel and the village with the same name have become worthy of honor and a sacred holy place. The so called Kaserer trail represents the passion of Jesus and is one of the most beautiful pilgrimage places in South Tyrol today.

The Holy Ghost Church is also well known because of its cross with bullet holes, which a legend has evolved from, as well as other considerable works of art, which can be admired in the church. The church is reachable by foot, about a 20 minute walk from Kasern along the Kaserer trail.

MINERALS MUSEUM
Besides the castles, mountains and churches, the Tauferer Ahrntal is above all known for the nature. The imposing mountains hold many treasures in the form of minerals and precious stones, and these can be viewed at two mineral museums in the Tauferer Ahrntal.

SHEEPS WOOL PROCESSING
In the past, farmers for the most part, provided for themselves, even producing their clothes themselves. Since it often became very cold in the northern part of the Tauferer Ahrntal, the farmers used the fur from their sheep to create warm clothes to be worn. Today, Heleny Brusa teaches people the process of turning sheepskin into wool.
