RESTAURANT
No-nonsense and unique. Always looking for harmonious contrasts in taste and texture. This is Jef’s cooking style in a nutshell.

Jef Schuur worked at Michelin-starred restaurants in the Netherlands and abroad before deciding to make his dream come true at the age of 25: starting his own restaurant on the island where he grew up. Local products are an important part of his repertoire.

These include lamb, cheeses and shellfish from Texel. This love for what the island has to offer, he combines with inspiration gained during foreign gastronomical trips. One could call it ‘local meets cosmopolitan’.

The wines of hostess and sommelier Nadine perfectly complement Jef’s creations. Jef and Nadine are praised for their unique and personal style by their guests and professional reviewers.

MENU
We serve a daily changing seven courses menu. Local ingredients like fish, shellfish and Texel lamb are important elements of the menu. Local meets Cosmopolitan menu for €125,- p.p.

If you have any allergies or dietary requests, please let us know. Within our possibilities, we take this into account.

WINE
The wine list is in good hands with sommelier and hostess Nadine Mögling. She is always looking for extraordinary winemakers who deliver an optimal value. Next to known names, she particularly focuses on innovative and unique winemakers.

Nadine has a special preference for Europe, where she believes more innovative wineries can be found every time. She follows all the developments in wine, whether it is about wines from small biological farms or so-called vins naturels, where there is as little as possible intervention in the natural processes.

The close cooperation with her partner Jef in the kitchen guarantees perfectly fitting wines for every dish. This is why Nadine became the first female sommelier in The Netherlands to be proclaimed Best Wine/Food Specialist of the year by GaultMillau in 2011.

TEXEL
Jef is housed in a former rectory in the old center of Den Hoorn. Only five minutes drive from the port of arrival, and within walking distance of the beach. Texel offers lots of entertainment. Ideal for beach walks or bike rides through the countryside.

On the island you can find many boutiques and shops addresses. Foodies are certainly welcome a visit to local producers selling directly from the farm where their craft (ask Jef and Nadine especially to their favorite addresses).

Fancy sports? Plenty of choice. Consider: sailing, kite or wind surfing, golf, parachuting, mudflat hiking and horseback riding

Also worth: cycle path along the Jan Wolkers memorable spots of Texel, where the sculptor, painter, writer to his living dead. Or Ecomare, the museum of the Wadden Sea, including a look at the seal sanctuary.

The Wadden officially belong to the UNESCO World Heritage List. An additional reason for visiting Texel.
