A journey into the roots of the past, an emotional and sensory experience where present and future meet. This is Borgo Antichi Orti, this is the magic of a place that is unique in its essence.

Around 1444 a small Benedictine monastery was built “extra moenia”, i.e. outside the walls, to which other settlements were added, creating the “little village” at the foot of Assisi, a welcoming outpost of the city. Borgo evokes tradition, a way of living in communion, in synergy, sustainable. It has the flavour of the intimate, the reserved, the familiar.

On the site there were terraced vegetable gardens cultivated by sharecroppers at the service of the monks themselves. They are ancient because they are medieval and evoke characteristics of authenticity, tradition and experience. The cultural and health role played by the monastic orders, particularly the Benedictine, was fundamental.

This order carried out an intense activity of research and production of highly effective medicines, making use of classical medical knowledge (the medical science of the first Universities, the Guild of Physicians and Apothecaries). The monks, great connoisseurs and users of medicinal herbs, produced catalogues raisonnés of all the herbs they cultivated and used, called Hortuli.

Assisi encapsulates the mystical and religious history of the two most famous orders in the world of Christianity: Benedictines and Franciscans, so Assisi alone evokes the point of conjunction of the orders and geographical location.

ROOMS & SUITES
The Borgo is home to twelve widespread residences, each with its own strong personality in terms of furnishings and details. A reminder of arcane and spiritual sensations and emotions. All with great care and respect for environmental sustainability and the link with the territory.

GARDEN SUITE
Located in the outdoor annex, the Garden Suites enjoy views of the vegetable garden, garden and Assisi. A private garden allows direct access to the swimming pool, the possibility to have breakfast outside and enjoy a unique view of Assisi.

The air-conditioned Graden Suites have a king-size bed, parquet floor, exposed beams, bathroom with shower and the possibility of adding a third bed.

CLASSIC SUITE
Spacious rooms, ranging in size from 35 sqm, located in the main complex on the top floor. The Classic Suite residences enjoy views of the countryside and are air-conditioned. They also have a king-size bed and a loft with the possibility of a third and fourth bed. Perfect family accommodation.

JUNIOR SUITE
About 30 square metres in size, the Junior Suites are located in the main complex on the top floor, where they enjoy views of the vegetable garden, garden and farmyard, and in the outbuildings with their own garden and private access. The air-conditioned residences have a king-size bed, parquet floor, bathroom with shower, free Wi-Fi and the possibility of adding a third bed.

SUPERIOR ROOM
Located in the outdoor annexe with garden and vegetable garden views, the Superior Doubles feature a king-size bed, parquet flooring, free WiFi and a bathroom with natural light and shower.

THE LOCANDA
An intimate and suggestive atmosphere. We offer an enogastronomic experience that includes three tasting itineraries and an “À la Carte Menu” that revisits the typical Umbrian cuisine.

This is what the masters of art were called in the Middle Ages. They had cultural depth, handed-down experience, passion and tenacity. We chose our craftsmen for their sensitivity, curiosity, passion and professionalism.

THE BOTANIC LAB
Botanical Lab offers a selection of Signature Cocktails with elements of our garden. A modern place that gives space to music, where you can have lunch, aperitif and a casual dinner with three tapas tasting itineraries.

THE PERGOLA & THE GARDEN 
The Pergola can hold up to 45 people at square, round or rectangular tables. The Pergola has a large garden that can hold up to 150 people. The garden has a view of the Basilica as a backdrop, which on summer evenings at sunset is very evocative and romantic.

HORTULI BENEDETTI
The Hortuli Benedetti consists of 10,000 square metres of food and medicinal cultivars, where the Benedictine monks’ gardens once stood. Organised in quadrants with a central arena, they are ideal for events, weddings and outdoor activities.

Based on the rural tradition of drawing on nature’s resources, we practice natural organic farming, in which we do not use chemical fertilisers or any other synthetic products – weed killers, pesticides, etc. – and do not use pesticides.

Nature needs the hand of man to come into being synergistically. Every day we follow the processes, caring for the land and plants, to make them lush and generous. All cultivars are organised in quadrants corresponding to the elements: Earth, Water, Air and Fire. Everything then happens in the fifth essence.

Francesco is in charge of green and horticulture. He has been cultivating gardens since he was 6 years old and teaches meditation. He has a special relationship with the plant world, always trying to understand its needs because he believes that cooperation and respect between people and nature is fundamental.

ADOPT NATURE
Based on the farming tradition that draws on the resources of nature, we practice natural organic farming. We do not use chemical fertilisers or any other synthetic products (herbicides, pesticides, etc.). We also use vegetable intercropping, placing plants close together to help each other for pathogen resistance and increased production.

By adopting, you will get n.1 plot of the hortuli of 25 sqm with a number and a personalised plate. We will grow the vegetables that you can harvest personally or receive directly at your home.

SPAGYRIC LABORATORY
It is here that the herbs gathered at the Borgo are processed: herbal teas, candles, cocktail preparations and cosmetic products.

MEETINGS
Specialised classrooms with the most modern technologies that can host scientific, professional and amateur training courses. Study centre for home-made food, fragrances and nutraceuticals.

MEDITERRANEAN ENERGY MASSAGE 
A traditional manual technique, circulatory on the legs and relaxing for the back. An oil that blends the natural elements of the Mediterranean tradition, produced by hand, accompanies each manual technique.

FISIO MASSAGE
A personalised, decontracting postural massage with lumbar and cervical-cranial relaxation techniques for complete relaxation and tension relief.

BIO RELAX

Mamaca and the caresses of gravity, wrapped in an enveloping and elastic fabric, in an innovative treatment, you will experience the fabulous sensation of freeing yourself from the weight of gravity. Lightness, decompression of the intervertebral discs and freedom of movement!

Relaxing manual techniques complete the immersion in the ocean of sounds of gongs, Tibetan bells and ancestral instruments, which act on the physical, mental and emotional body, generating a deep and relaxing introspection.
