Crest Deluxe Cabin Suite
Perfect for a family of up to 6 people, it has 3 bedrooms, 2 1/2 bathrooms and a living room complete with a fireplace. Crest is one of the nicest cabins on ranch, and has many custom upgrades throughout.

Ranch House Deluxe Cabin Suite
Ranch House is a triplex style cabin, and is the most central and requested cabin due to its location. This cabin is great for families with young children and those who want to be close to the pool and action of the ranch resort.

Each room in this cabin has its own separate entrance. Ranch A has 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a sun room, foyer plus a fireplace, and connects to Ranch D for an additional bedroom and bathroom.

Ranch B has 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a living room and a fireplace; while Ranch C has 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom a living room and a fireplace.

Roundup Deluxe Rooms
The Round Up Cabin consists of 8 individual rooms on two floors that have the option of connecting the front facing rooms to the back facing rooms, making these rooms perfect for couples or families. Each room has a sitting area, fireplace and a full bathroom with a double vanity. Roundup D is ADA compliant.

Sunset Multi-Room Cabin
Sunset is a newly remodeled quadplex and is great for families of up to 6 people. Each cabin has a front and back entrance, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a fireplace and sitting area in the front room.

Sunset A and D have a set of bunk beds and a queen Murphy bed in the back room, while Sunset B and C have two sets of bunk beds in the back room.

Each Season Defines the Dining Experience at C Lazy U Ranch
During C Lazy U’s family seasons families share breakfast and lunch together daily, then go their separate ways for dinner. Kids eat with their friends, play games, and get ready for the evening entertainment while fully supervised by counselors.

Parents retreat to an adults-only setting to chat with old friends, enjoy fine wine and a crafted multi-course gourmet dining experience. Kids and parents reunite after dinner for the evening’s activity and ice cream at the Patio House, before closing out another fantastic entry in their dude ranch diaries.

The family seasons include Martin Luther King Weekend, Presidents’ Weekend, Memorial Day Weekend, Summer (June thru August), Labor Day Weekend, Christmas, and New Year’s.

Throughout the remainder of the year, C Lazy U Ranch, caters to the guests or groups on ranch. Most meals are served together as a family or group. Kid’s selections are always available, and the ranch caters to the most detailed dietary restrictions and requests by hand crafting individual plates.

Cory Untch joined the C Lazy U Ranch in 2020 with an impressive resume that includes an extensive culinary history at many five-star hotels. Cory has an innovative approach that celebrates farm-to-table offerings and the foods of the Great American West.

He likes to put unique twists on recognized favorite staples and he strives to involve all your senses in the culinary experience. Cory believes in working closely with the front-of-house to ensure a fabulous dining experience that supports his culinary creations.

Meet the Sommelier
Bri Gow had found a passion for food and beverage working for various high end restaurants and clubs throughout Philadelphia.

Using the suggestion of a mentor at Loews Philadelphia Hotel, she gained certification through the Court of Master Sommeliers and continues to find ways to expand her knowledge in the Wine Industry.

She made her way to C Lazy U in March of 2021 as a seasonal employee but fell in love with the area and the mission of the ranch and decided to stay. When she’s not thinking of pairings for dinners or organizing tastings, you can find her taking advantage of all the outdoor activities Colorado has to offer.

Summer Mornings at the Ranch
It’s 6 a.m., meaning it’s rush hour at the ranch. Instead of revving engines and honking of frustrated drivers, you’ll hear the clopping of hooves and whinnying of horses. Our herd of over 200 horses comes in from pasture every morning — the “jingle” — for an early performance to kick off the day.

It’s an amazing sight: a thunderous parade of horses led by skillful wranglers who corral the horses and saddle them for another day on the trails during a dream horseback riding vacation.

The day begins with “Cowboy Coffee,” freshly brewed at the lodge firepit, served alongside a hearty, ranch-style family breakfast that includes all the fixin’s: pancakes, eggs, sausage, hash browns, fruit and pastries. Kids and parents eat this meal together in preparation for the high-energy activities coming their way.

Summer Afternoons at the Ranch
Adults take off on horseback, relax at the spa, play tennis, or simply unwind while reading a book at the pool. Summer Evenings at the Ranch

Winter Adventures for the Kids
The The Winter Kids Club is an optional program for children age 3 to 17. Our trained counselors supervise and guide the children and teens in a variety of activities depending on the ages of the kids and the weather conditions.

The Kids’ Club meets in the morning and in the afternoon so kids can have time to play with their peers and parents can have time to do the activities they want to do. Activities for the children participating in the Winter Kids’ Club are:

• Arts and crafts and games in the Patio House
• Grooming clinics
• Pony rides for children under 7
• Sledding and tubing by the pond, ice skating and hockey
• Guided cross country skiing or snowshoe lessons
• Fire building lesson at the warming hut
• BB gun biathlon (11 years and older)

Meals are eaten together as a family, except for the weekends of Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Presidents’ Day, when the children eat with their counselors; however teens 16 and 17 have the option to eat with their parents. A great way to have a Colorado winter trip for the entire family.

Ski Trips to Winter Park & Granby Ranch Resorts
The C Lazy U guest ranch is very much a ski destination. In addition to on-ranch cross-country skiing trails, we offer ski packages to the Winter Park and Ski Granby Ranch ski areas. Guests can take advantage of C Lazy U’s curb-to-curb shuttle service to both ski resorts.

Rental equipment can be obtained at a local ski shop prior to your arrival upon request; we can also arrange ski lessons. C Lazy U Ranch gives guests the opportunity to enjoy unparalleled skiing while getting away from the hustle and bustle of busy ski resorts.

Christmas Vacation in Colorado at the Dude Ranch
Spend your Christmas vacation in the Colorado Rocky Mountains! During Christmas week, guests enjoy their own personal Christmas trees in their rooms, which have been decked out in holiday décor.

In the Main Lodge, we invite everyone to decorate the large, main Christmas tree for a night of music and merriment. On Christmas Eve, Santa makes a special visit to the ranch on a horse-drawn sleigh, topping off an already-magical Colorado Christmas vacation.

Kids Horseback Riding Vacations
C Lazy U makes horseback riding accessible for kids of all ages during your family horseback riding vacation, all year round. We divide kids into groups based on age: Teens, Mustangs (ages 6-12), and Cowpokes (ages 3-5). We assure that horseback riding for kids with be one of the most memorable experiences.

Teens (Ages 13-17)
Teens have an action packed week filled with great adventures when they’re part of a Colorado vacation at C Lazy U ranch. From whitewater rafting trips to riding to the reservoir and going swimming, the teens get to enjoy the best of riding and camp-like activities at the same time.

Mustangs (Ages 6-12)
Mustangs are assigned their own personal horse for the week. Throughout the week the kids will develop their riding skills with great leadership from their experienced counselors. Horseback rides are filled with adventure as they visit the ranch outlaw’s hideaway, Shorty’s Cabin, and make the myth of Blue Dot Forest come to life.

Cowpokes (Ages 3-5)
The cowpokes don’t get their own horse yet but are able to be led by our ranch pony named Katie. A unique treat is getting pulled in a carriage behind our Sicilian donkey. These experiences will make them fall in love your annual family vacation in Colorado’s Wild West.

Adult Horseback Riding in Colorado
Just about anything goes in our Adult Horse Vacations at the C Lazy U. No matter what season – winter, summer, spring or fall – it’s your horseback riding vacation, and we want it to be everything your heart desires.

Regular trail rides are scheduled daily (sometimes twice daily) and in addition to these you can schedule riding instructions to brush up on specific skills or arrange for time in our two arenas for specialized riding.

Have you always dreamed of being a barrel racer? Make your dreams come true at the C Lazy U! Want to herd cattle or ride the range in chaps and cowboy hat? That’s on the agenda!

Outdoor Winter Horseback Riding
Guests of the ranch partake in up to two trail rides per day, each lasting about an hour to an hour and a half, on two of our specially selected winter trails.

Mount up on one of our 180 horses — all equipped with special cleated shoes to prevent slipping — to take in the awe-inspiring vistas of the Colorado Rockies on a clear winter day or during gentle snowfall.

The trails, which have been packed down for safety, are peacefully quiet in the wintertime, and you’ll see some of the most breathtaking sights in the world. Not only does the snow create some amazing sculptures along the rocky terrain, you’ll see parts of the woods that are hidden during other seasons.

The wildlife is one of the best sights of all: animals often hide from humans, especially when traipsing around on snowshoes, but the horses’ scent makes them less shy.

You may see majestic herds of elk making their way down the snow-white mountains, a bright red fox foraging for food, or, if you’re lucky, a rare bald eagle soaring through the Colorado sky.

As far as the winter temperature goes, luckily, it doesn’t often get too cold to ride in Colorado and the horses and your own winter gear help keep you warm while riding. But when it is too cold to ride, guests of C Lazy U can still get their fill of horseback riding in our indoor arena.

Indoor Winter Horseback Riding
Guests that prefer to keep warm can take advantage of our 12,000-square-foot indoor riding area, which offers the chance to go horseback riding if the weather is a bit too nippy. These sessions are generally held at the same time as outdoor trail rides.

You won’t just spend your time riding around in circles in the indoor arena. Guests can attend horsemanship clinics; improve their riding skills, which may involve poles and cones; or learn how to trot and lope.

Our Horses’ Life on the Ranch
At C Lazy U, we ask a lot of our horses. They have to be athletic and sound, and they may be required to go on two trail rides a day, which is no small task in the mountains.

But before they’re ready for guests, our horses are all put through training that consists of ground work, round pen work, desensitizing exercises, arena work, and trail work.

They are then given to wranglers, who trail ride them and get them further exposed to the trails, wildlife, and natural elements. Many of our horses know their leads, how to side pass, how to turn on their haunches and forehands, how to open and close gates, and many other wonderful skills.

In our herd of 200 horses, we have advanced horses, beginner horses, kid-friendly horses, and everything in between. The horses are accustomed to riders of all levels and are perfectly matched to your riding abilities.

If you are a rider who is already comfortable on a horse, we have some of the best loping terrain in Colorado. Guests who are interested in natural horsemanship can partake in C Lazy U’s free horsemanship clinics, in addition to daily trail rides as part of their stay.

Fly Fishing Trips and Guides in Colorado
Due to the East Troublesome Fire that occurred in Oct. of 2020 the ranch anticipates there may be periodic impacts to Fly Fishing from time to time. This may occur on Willow Creek (on ranch) and sections of the Colorado River that are leased by C Lazy U for Guided Fishing (off ranch) following heavy rains.

These weather events can cause flash flooding where silt and debris enter the water upstream impacting the fishing conditions. Please feel free to reach out to the ranch directly to get more information related to current conditions.

Fly Fishing at its best! Fishing opportunities are endless at our Colorado dude ranch. We encourage and welcome all skill levels at the C Lazy U dude ranch. This is easy, close, convenient, and enjoyable for all ages. For additional fly fishing opportunities, sign up for a guided river experience on or off the property.

For on-ranch guided fly fishing, we offer half- or full-day sessions on our private stretch of Willow Creek. Additionally, half- or full-day trips are available on private stretches of neighboring water, such as the Colorado and Fraser Rivers. Guests of C Lazy U have the opportunity to catch rainbow, brown, and brook trout while wade fishing.
