LINDOS
The imposing rock of the Acropolis, the white-washed houses blended with the sophisticated Captain’s Villas as well as the narrow steets, two splendid beaches and the Aegean breeze embody the beauty of Lindos to a unique, anticipated destination.

Take a donkey-ride all the way to the sacred rock and live the experience of the local people’s transportation until only recently.

Explore the mystery of the past by visiting the temple of Lindia Athena at the very top level of the Acropolis and take your time to relish the astonishing 360 degree views of the deep blu Mediterraneanean sea, the picturesque natural harbors, the puzzle-like houses or the sun-dried mountains of Marmari.

Wonder inside the streets and get lost in the magical atmosphaire that connects yesterday with today. Walk until the end of the main harbor and visit the temple of Cleobulus the Lindian, one of the seven wise personalities and the ancient world.

“Μέτρον Άριστον – Do everything in life, as long as you maintain moderation” was one of his most famous quotes.

Lindos was founded by the Dorians led by the king Tlepolemus of Rhodes, who arrived in about the 10th century BC. It was one of six Dorian cities in the area known as the Dorian Hexapolis.

The eastern location of Rhodes made it a natural meeting place between the Greeks and the Phoenicians, and by the 8th century Lindos was a major trading centre. In the 6th century it was ruled by Cleobulus, one of the Seven Sages of Greece.

The importance of Lindos declined after the foundation of the city of Rhodes in the late 5th century. In classical times the acropolis of Lindos was dominated by the massive temple of Athena Lindia, which attained its final form in around 300 BC.

In Hellenistic and Roman times the temple precinct grew as more buildings were added. In early medieval times these buildings fell into disuse, and in the 14th century they were partly overlaid by a massive fortress built on the acropolis by the Knights of St John to defend the island against the Ottomans.

RHODES OLD & NEW TOWN
The capital of the Dodecanese, an island which is ideal not only for those who want to relax but also for those looking for an action-packed holiday! With its bright green hills, rich green valleys and uninterrupted line of golden beaches, Rhodes is truly a blessed place.

Add in the excellent facilities for tourism, the island’s special blend of cosmopolitan and traditional, and numerous cultural and archaeological sites and you’ve got the perfect holiday destination.

By far the largest and always the most powerful of the Dodecanese Islands, Rhodes abounds in beaches, wooded valleys and ancient history.

Whether you arrive in search of buzzing nightlife, languid sun worshipping, or diving in crystal-clear waters, or embark on a culture-vulture journey through past civilisations, it’s all here.

As you enter one of the largest medieval towns in Europe through the Gate of Freedom, it soon becomes obvious that the Old Town of Rhodes is a mosaic of different cultures and civilizations; rarely does a visitor have the chance to stroll within medieval walls and explore twenty-four centuries of history.

The fascinating medieval fortress-like buildings, the bastions, walls, gates, narrow alleys, minarets, old houses, fountains, tranquil and busy squares make it feel like you have stepped back into medieval times.  The Palace of the Grand Master is certainly the highlight of the Old Town.

The Palace, originally a Byzantine fortress built at the end of the 7th century A.D., was converted in the early 14th century by the Knights of the Order of Saint John into the residence of the Grand Master of the order and the administrative headquarters of their state; now it has been turned into a museum.

AROUND THE ISLAND
Wonder around the coastline and discover the typical Mediterranean landscaped beaches, from golden sand stretches, colorful pebbles to small cave-like shores. Swim in the crystal waters and explore the islands hidden treasures.

Hike to the mounts of Attaviros and be rewarded with spectacular views of the island and the Aegean. Take a tour to Embona and the local wineries and degust local varieties by small producers.

Visit Monolithos and enjoy a glass of wine while watching the sun getting drawn in the deep blue sea. Regenerate yourself in the seven springs and travel through the secret tunnel with the flowing water.

Drive to the butterfly valley and explore the island’s wildlife in a spectacular show of colours. Taste the local gastronomy and guide your senses through the finest delicacies of the island.
