Within the Coqui Coqui Residences & Spa portfolio, Merida’s L’Epicerie balances the vibrancy of the metropolis with the charm of a hidden century-old colonial home. The decadent belle époque building is a beautiful escape from the bustling, vibrant city streets of Merida.

You will experience the atmosphere of our boutique, with its high-end local handcrafts, the timeless style of the Epicerie, with the smell of steaming herbal & floral infusions or the tasteful selection of gourmet cacaos and honeys, along with an unique urban spa, all of which will transport you back in time to the “White City” in its prime opulence.

As the colonial capital of the Yucatan Peninsula, Merida was once home to the greatest concentration of wealth in Mexico. Once dilapidated, this city has maintained its grandeur and air of sophisticated elegance.

The sisal barons of the 19th century commissioned Parisian architects to build opulent villas along Paseo Montejo and buildings scattered at the heart of the city. The ‘White City’ is the perfect home for Coqui Coqui’s L’Epicerie.

The inland city of Merida and its fading glamour has attracted artists and bohemian sophisticates, who have settled down within the city to restore dilapidating buildings and give them a fresh allure. Merida is experiencing a cultural renaissance and a slow revivification of its affluent apogee.

Located in the midst of the zocalo or historical city center just a few steps away from the busy Santa Lucia Square, the beautiful Coqui Coqui Merida is set within a 1903 townhouse, reminiscent of the Belle Époque era. The decadent one-suite residence houses our signature perfumery, spa, boutique, café & salon degustacion.

With intricately decorated tile floors and elegant details, the high-ceilinged perfumery offers the full line of Coqui Coqui’s selection of perfumes and fragrances.

Beyond the heavy, velvet drapes the boutique features Coqui Coqui Oficios Artesanos, our clothing, homewares, and travel essentials line that’s been meticulously curated with our hand-crafted selection of national artisanal items.

Venture a bit further into the indoor patio where the L’Epicerie café is found and enjoy a freshly-brewed cup of coffee while being soothed by the delicate sound of running water from the fountain. Taste our line of handmade honeys, tisanas, and chocolates from our salon degustacion artisanal food items.

On the roof, you’ll discover the ornately decorated one-room private suite with an open living room, terrace and private rooftop pool to enjoy.

Rich velvet drapes in deep jewel tones, period furniture with plush burgundy upholstery, golden accents, antique mirrors and selection of coffee-table books make-up the sumptuously luxurious decor.

A large iron four-post bed balances the two freestanding French bathtubs, situated elegantly within the room and creating the perfect setting for a uniquely romantic experience.

From the cultural offerings, to local craft markets, bustling gastronomic scene and distinctive architecture, Coqui Coqui Merida offers the perfect backdrop and base for exploring the unique opulence and decadent glamour of this historical Yucatán city.

THE ULTIMATE SENSORY EXPERIENCE

Coqui Coqui Perfumeria stands firm as one of the founding pillars of the Coqui Coqui Lifestyle Group. At the heart of Coqui Coqui Perfumeria lies the Yucatan and Polynesia.

The natural tropical scents of the Yucatan region inspire every fragrance of its dedicated collection, as does the landscape, people, culture and lifestyle, in addition to the state’s rich, centuries-old history of perfume production.

Founder and Creative Director, Nicolas Malleville, continues such lineage, rooting the Coqui Coqui Perfumeria in the Yucatan and in the new South Pacific adventure, in French Polynesia.

Each Coqui Coqui Residence and Spa has its own personalised fragrance. The dewy coconut scent of Coco Coco is inspired by the palm trees scattered along the white sand beaches of Bora Bora.

The lime and mint Menli fragrance reflects the lush gardens of Coba, which has both plants growing there. The scent of Rosas Secas reflects the town of Valladolid with its strong cultural character, specifically inspired by the deeply religious festival of Madonna de Candelaria.

The Coqui Coqui Residence and Spa situated in the Yucatan’s capital of Merida, a city surrounded by tobacco plantations have seen the Tabaco born, a sophisticated warm, rich, elegant scent, much like Merida itself.

The Coqui Coqui Perfumeria Yucatan Collection boasts eight fragrances to date, while the Mediterranean Collection counts two, and the Polynesian eight, produced as individual scents and available as other products, from bath oils to room scents and beeswax candles.

LAS Hamacas – Tradition

Produced with 100% Mexican fibers and materials such as suede, wood, pure cotton and sansevieria, Coqui Coqui Oficios Artesanos celebrates a primitive, luxurious way of living and travelling.

Each product is created from the beautiful Mexican traditional culture which involves the Mayan beliefs, the Franciscan colonial style, the remains of the European vibe, as well as the minimalism from modern society.

Hamacas

The hammocks are one of the most significant pieces from the Yucatecan culture: re-inventing the concept of relaxing, in a beautiful natural way, creating Hamacas made of Sansevieria with long fringes. Sansevieria is a plant used by only few remaining artisans who still know and value the technique of making threads from its leaves. Its fiber is strong and durable, becoming softer and more luminous using it in your daily life.

LA Sombrereria

The Sombrerería, or hat shop, across the street from the Perfumeria, showcases the best millinery craft and products.

In a collaboration with local artisans as well as with one of the oldest and most prestigious hat-making company in Mexico, Sombreros Tardan, Coqui Coqui has created exclusive collections of wool and rabbit felt hats as well as the typical Jipi and Panama hats made out of natural fiber.

These beautiful hats celebrate the discerning heritage travelers way of living yet also combining Coqui Coqui’s explorer lifestyle. From fedoras to classical wide flat brim hats to the coveted Panama lined with Coqui Coqui’s exclusive signature suede and leather bands providing reliability in design and wear.

Coqui Coqui takes great care of the constant innovation, honesty and responsibility of the origin of these products in order to provide our clients with the best quality hats meant to be taken in all kinds of adventures: from jungle exploring, or beach relaxation to flair of the streets in the city!

LA MARROQUINERIA

For the great interest in unique heritage pieces from our guests and friends, we imagined and created a travels & adventures gamuza suede line, which includes extra-large travel bags, totes, sports bags as well as 48h-business-trip bag; combined with passport and personal values holders.

Handmade in Valladolid, each product is a combination between style and comfort, as well as being very easy-to-wear, at the beach, in a jungle exploration, for a shopping day in the city or for a ride to any beautiful destination.

This concept was born thanks to the talks and thoughts with friends, guests and clients who have experienced and appreciated Coqui Coqui at the beach, in the jungle, walking through colonial little streets, and in the eclectic vibe of the decadent Yucatán’s capitol.

Salon degustacion & SABORES

Coqui Coqui opens its doors to the gastronomic world for us to continue our journey, absorbing the best of the Yucatan Peninsula, a region rich in natural resources and with a strong identity in regional cuisine.

We seek to foster and support the development of sustainable agriculture creating our own orchards in Coba which provide a variety of ingredients to create delicious dishes, taking the traditional side and giving our own contemporary twist to align with our lifestyle.

That is why we have created a variety of dishes and cocktails that best represent us to give our guests a unique and complete experience. The menu was thoroughly curated by our chef to transform our vision into a culinary experience.

Playing with textures, colours, aromas and flavours our creations pay homage to the best of the region from our starters and main courses to our desserts and cocktails. We invite you to be part of this special experience.

ANCIENT AND TRADITIONAL TREATMENTS

Each of our four unique residences offers equally individual spa experiences. Founded on ancient and traditional methods, our treatments maintain simplicity in their holistic approach to our guests’ physical and emotional well being.

Our Coqui Coqui scents are used along with the natural ingredients in all our oils lotion and herbal blends prepared for all treatments.

Our therapists combine practiced technique and intuitive touch to carry out our carefully curated treatments, created foremost with your relaxation in mind to ensure you leave feeling renewed and inspired.

Our spa menus vary slightly by location as do the experience, and each treatment is accompanied by the scents of the Residences themselves.

The sophisticated warm, rich and elegant scent of Tabaco belongs to our Merida Residence. We believe the spa, situated in a beautiful courtyard with an outdoor bathtub, is an excellent location to take a break from the buzz of the Yucatan’s capital.
