Insider’s guide
Exploring a city is never complete without its gastronomy. From a romantic dinner in a Michelin-starred restaurant, to a cup of coffee on a peaceful afternoon or a cocktail in the effervescent neighborhoods, check out our recommendation to experience Geneva at its best.

Une fondue genevoise
You can’t be in Switzerland and not trying the delicious fondue. With 26 cantons and 4 languages, Switzerland is a real melting pot of cultures.

There is however, one dish that unites the country: fondue (from the French word fondre, meaning ‘to melt’), a specialty of crusty bread dipped in a pot of melted cheese and wine.

The Swiss eat fondue all year round, but it’s especially warming in winter, whether you are in the mountains or dining out in the city. For a casual night out tuck into cheesy goodness in one of Geneva’s favorite fondue restaurants:

L’Auberge de Savièse

Located at 200 meters from the Eastwest Hotel, in the heart of the Pâquis district, this restaurant offers traditional Swiss cuisine. Its famous fondue and raclette will delight cheese lovers. This typical address inspired by Swiss chalets is perfect to share a diner with friends in a warm atmosphere.

Buvette des Bains

At only few minutes walking distance, quirky, unpretentious lakefront café popular with locals, set in a public bathhouse dating back to the 1930’s. During the winter, soak in the laid-back atmosphere, enjoy the beautiful view.

An evening out
When the night falls, soak into the effervescent districts and experience Geneva’s most popular bars:

L’Atelier Cocktail Club

Situated in a street that is home to some of Geneva’s most popular bars, l’Atelier combines the best elements of any nightlife venue: a massive bar, expert mixologists, deep leather armchairs and good music.

Bottle Brothers

Right across the street from Atelier, Bottle Brothers is always buzzing and fun. It has a good selection of wines and artisan beers to be enjoyed with tasty mini-burgers.

Le Verre à Monique

1920’s retro interior, a unique atmosphere and a great selection of cocktails, from old classics to imaginative homemade originals, this is one of the best cocktail bars in town!

It’s all about cakes
During your afternoon stroll in the city, stop for a cup of coffee and a delicious dessert in some intimate patisseries:

Aux Merveilleux de Fred

With their famous Merveilleux, a meringue with delicious cream sprinkled with chocolate shavings, this unusual cake shop with rose decorations on the terrace, invites you in the atmosphere of a Parisian chic café.
