El Ombú de Areco is located in San Antonio de Areco, a short 120 km (75 miles) from Buenos Aires. The estancia consists of a magnificent 1880 farmhouse that has belonged to the Boelcke family since 1934.
Since 1993, this traditional Estancia in San Antonio de Areco receives tourists from Argentina and beyond. Our guests come to enjoy a day in Buenos Aires countryside or to stay in one of our comfortable suites. At El Ombú de Areco we have 11 magnificent suites, a living room, a restaurant, a game room, two swimming pools, soccer and volleyball pitches .
Visitors can enjoy a wide variety of activities, such as horseback riding, sulky (carriage) rides, folk shows with live music and dancers, demonstrations of “Doma India” (Traditional Argentine horse whispering) or “Tropilla” (herd of horses), hiking, cycling and bird watching.
In total we have 300 hectares, divided between grazing livestock and agriculture. We have more than 350 heads of Aberdeen Angus cattle and 70 horses. Alongside our cattle and horse, we have fields planted with soy, corn, wheat, oats or pastures, depending on the time of year.
At our hotel in San Antonio de Areco, we offer a magnificent service just outside the local town. We have 11 spacious refurbished rooms, each with private bathrooms and vintage furnishings. We’ve uniquely designed and decorated each room, and all have excellent natural light.
We have double, triple and quadruple rooms, with the possibility of adding extra beds and cots. For large families we also have interconnecting rooms. During your stay with us, you can also enjoy our spacious living room and our swimming pools, as well as large outdoor spaces to practice sports, ride horses, sulky or bikes, or take long walks.
Our estancia hotel in San Antonio de Areco is an ideal retreat for a short quiet stay or an extended visit, as well as for business events, family celebrations, birthdays or weekend getaways.
A DAY IN THE COUNTRYSIDE
Estancia El Ombú de Areco is an excellent option to enjoy an authentic day in Buenos Aires countryside. At El Ombú you can spend the day in full contact with nature and with the customs and typical food of the Argentine countryside. This option is ideal for taking a break, celebrating a birthday or having a New Year’s Eve party in a different, relaxed and fun environment!
Suggested schedule:
- 11.00 Welcome snack: empanadas and drinks (wine, beer, soda, water or juice)
- 11.30 to 13.30 Horseback or carriage rides that take you around the property’s 300 hectares, where you can see a typical Argentine estancia in action. Cows, sheep, horses and birds will all be seen, including some of planted fields.
- 13.30 Lunch: “Asado criollo” with a variety of salads, drinks, dessert and coffee
- 15.00 Live music and folk dance
- 15.30 Equestrian demonstrations (“doma india” or “tropilla”)
- 16.00 to 17.30 Free time. You can enjoy all the facilities: swimming pools, bicycles, soccer and volleyball courts, pool table, ping pong, table soccer, sun loungers and more.
- 17.30 Snack: cupcakes, variety of homemade cakes and puddings with coffee, tea, mate, soda or juice.
