The best fish and seafood from the Portuguese coast as well as highest quality of local and national products are a constant on the Guincho table, honoured and created in every dish, every season, recognized by national and international press and critics.
In 2001 the restaurant received one Michelin star, renewed held until today. Since its beginning in 1998, some of the modern references in Portuguese cuisine were part of the Fortaleza do Guincho team , causing it to acquire the status of a “school.”
Acclaimed Chef Antoine Westermann introduced in 1998 a French fine dining restaurant concept, which quickly became a reference in Portugal. Originally with a classic French concept, since the summer 2015, the Portuguese products and traditions have been gaining prominence at Fortaleza do Guincho.
His philosophy is based and inspired by the Atlantic, the background setting of the Hotel. ROOMS & SUITES
Leaning over the Atlantic Ocean, the Fortaleza do Guincho welcomes a charming five star boutique Hotel – integrated into the prestigious Relais & Châteaux Association. The Hotel Fortaleza do Guincho, has 8 Classic Rooms with lateral beach view through a small fortress window located in the cloister.
On the first floor, 16 Superior Rooms offer splendid views over the Atlantic Ocean, all with closed balconies and chaise longue. The 3 Junior Suites offer the best views over the Atlantic Ocean right in front, and over Cabo da Roca. All rooms are equipped with TV, mini bar, telephone, hairdryer, safe, free internet access, turndown service and offer all comforts of a 5 star hotel.
SPOT BY FORTALEZA DO GUINCHO
The Spot by Fortaleza do Guincho is the perfect place for a delicious and light meal. The menu offers a selection of sandwiches, salads and the Chef’s daily suggestion. Any item on the menu calls for a fresh draft beer or a glass of wine, with the ocean as the backdrop.
In summer our terrace overlooking the Atlantic Ocean invites you to enjoy a drink, meal or an aperitif before dinner ; during winter there is nothing like staying in the comfort of our ” Sala das Damas ” or library lounge with views of the Atlantic Ocean.
We recommend to experience our Five o’ clock tea with homemade cakes, scones and some other delicious sweets. The Spot by Fortaleza do Guincho is open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
EVENTS & MEETINGS
The Medieval Room, with a capacity of up to 100 people seated, is perfect for any occasion. In an elegant setting, you will find the ideal place for a wedding, private or corporate events and all kinds of celebrations for group, family and friends. The Pateo Room, on the first floor with an area of 45m2 with natural light, is ideal for smaller board – and business meetings.
