Nature makes its presence felt at the Forelle. In all color shades that it provides voluntarily. Such as stimulating reds, sunny golden yellows or soothing olive greens. Framed by natural, fragrant wood from native forests – and if the wood creaks a little, this only adds to the charm.

In between heavenly soft blankets which invite guests to dream away. And it’s no wonder, since even the bed linen is given enough time to dance serenely in the wind as it dries on the clothes line.

Lost in our thoughts, we have an infinite sense of wellbeing and can take time to listen. To the silence in the woods. Both outdoors and in. In cozy rooms called Sea Rose, Lake Magic, Cowslip or Morning Dew. Or in suites known by the names of Lime Blossom or Morning Sun.

We prick up our inner ears, as well. Following our instincts that draw us to our favorite read after breakfast. While passing the time, we find ourselves gazing out over Lake Weissensee and its unspoiled lakeshore, which the locals have good reason to be quite proud of.

It’s just a few meters that separate us. We take a deep breath and find peace of mind. And are inspired to daydream. Maybe even to pursue new goals, thoughts to take home with us. To engage in exercises amidst an unmatched paradise that is patient with us.

For there is always tomorrow. Which means we already look forward to the next sunrise. Accompanied by incredible feelings of joy, ease and peace. Emotions that build up slowly but surely. Just like nature in the Forelle.

DINING
As long as they do not grow in their own herb garden. That’s why she keeps a close eye on the suppliers. They have to speak Hannes’ language and be close to him. Not only locally. Because only high-quality products like the fine Weissensee fish from Martin Müller, within shouting distance, guarantee honest cuisine.

Or the noble, melt-in-the-mouth soft sheep cheese from Eva Nuart. Like the organic, mild dairy products from Haus Jakober. And only that tastes good to us. And caresses our palate in the finest way. We look forward to creative temptations that find their way to us. Every day anew. Realized with a lot of love and calmness.

Because speed has no place here. But the seasons do, which allow only that to grow and flourish which corresponds to the respective season. And we find that simply good and right.

So we let the royal wild strawberries melt in our mouths only in summer. The tart-sweet, fiber-rich cucumbers are only in season in winter. That tastes and smells then more intensively, more honestly, but also healthier.

For us, our conscience, but also for Hannes, who can be really stubborn in this respect. And for all environmentally conscious people anyway. Honesty lasts and tastes best.

In the form of fresh, natural and healthy creations, with which the viersternelandgenusshotel has long since made a name for itself. And Hannes anyway, even if he does not attach great importance to big headlines.

THE WINE CELLAR
There’s no better complement to a delicious meal than a well-chosen vintage. We personally visit many wine-growing estates to get a first-hand impression of the region, its people and the grapes, of course, ensuring that only the best selections are served to our guests.

SLOW FOOD
In the kitchens, smokehouses, ripening cellars, at the beehives, bread ovens or the grain mills – these journeys to the origins of good taste open up new perspectives and the finest taste experiences! Take the step from consumer to co-producer together with our food artisans.

Those who have churned butter, kneaded dough, made Carinthian noodles or gathered wild herbs themselves, enjoy differently. More consciously. And in addition to the product itself, they take home a rich treasure of memories, experiences and new knowledge.

EXPERIENCES & ACTIVITIES
Relax, lean back in your seat and enjoy the outdoor scenery on a comfortable train ride. Make sure everything gets on environmentally-friendly tracks. In Greifenburg we change to the eco bus. The rest is taken care of by the complimentary Nature Park Bus. At the village entrance of Praditz, taking us to the Forelle. At 30-minutes intervals. But that doesn’t matter anymore.

When gently cruising the lakeshore of Lake Weissensee on segways and e-bikes, leaving us humming contently. Soft mobility. Coming full circle. The playground of nature. It’s no surprise that the park received the Carinthian Mobility Award.

And was labelled Nature Park of the Year 2014. Here, serenity seems to come out of the blue. And that is something you first need to get used to. Instead of airplanes we see dragonflies. We relish the silence. And deliberately wait to just do whatever we feel like doing. The main point is slowing down.

Go for a walk and breathe in nature. Or simply allow ourselves to get lost in thought. When we go swimming in Lake Weissensee, we are swimming in crystal clear water pure enough to drink. What a wonderful, soft tingling sensation on the skin. From dawn, when the haze slowly dissipates, until dusk. While breathing deeply the good air.

Because industrial plants are nowhere to be found here. At Lake Weissensee, nature and resources are treated with consideration. Organic waste is converted to biogas, thus to pure energy. The sewer system around the lake was designed with nature in mind.

We, too, happily give our support to the cycle of nature. That’s what it looks like, the freedom we are talking about at Lake Weissensee. The Nature Park Weissensee is not just a natural wonder but also a genuine and diverse miracle of movement. It draws and inspires us. But only as far as one’s own fancy permits.

We cut our own path most of the time. Swimming and snowshoe hiking. Rowing and tobogganing. Ice-skating and e-biking. However, there is one thing you won’t find: waiting lines at the ski lifts. That is something simply unheard of here at Lake Weissensee!

And if you are not in the mood for the outdoors, the Forelle offers plenty of good options for indoor activities. Like letting off steam in the sauna. The way there is easily explained: always follow your nose, toward the fresh pine fragrance luring guests to the cozy relaxation lounge.
