Grantley Hall’s past is colourful and varied with a myriad of tales to tell from Members of Parliament, artists, entertainers and royalty who have all walked through its doors. Originally built as a private home, the building has served as a training facility for the local community and there was once even a mill house on the land.

Today Grantley Hall is privately owned by Valeria Sykes who bought the property with a vision of creating a legacy for her family and this magnificent, historical building. Three generations of the Sykes’ family were involved in the restoration project to transform Grantley Hall into a luxury 5 star hotel and wellness retreat.

ROYAL SUITE
With breathtaking views looking out over the front of the Hall to the formal gardens, fountain and the River Skell, the Royal Suite is the picture-perfect suite for any couple.

You will find a beautiful seating and dining area and a luxury bathroom with walk-in shower and large roll top bath looking out to the manicured formal gardens and parkland settings. Set over two floors, the Royal Suite comes complete with air conditioning and a state of the art TV and audio system. Size is 100 square metres.

PRESIDENTIAL SUITE
This magnificent suite is located in the Fountain Wing accessed from the rooftop atrium where you enter into a private hallway complete with a guest washroom. From the hallway you step into a large lounge with baby grand piano, spacious seating area with a large dining space.

The lounge offers far reaching views of the gardens and River Skell. The bedroom has extensive wardrobe storage space and views of the gardens. The bathroom, clad Italian marble boasts a 4 piece bathroom suite, double vanity unit and walk-in shower. The Presidential Suite comes complete with air conditioning and a state of the art TV and audio system. Size is 128 square metres.

JUNIOR SUITES
Our stunning Junior Suites are available in the Fountains Wing and Hall. Each Suite is individually designed and decorated offering a large seating area and stunning views of our stunning parkland surroundings. All bathrooms are clad in Italian marble and offer four-piece bathroom suites. All suites come complete with air conditioning and a state of the art TV and audio system. Average size is 58 square metres.

DELUXE ROOMS
Our spacious Deluxe Double Rooms are situated in both the Hall and Fountains Wing, many offering delightful views. All bathrooms are clad in Italian marble and offer four-piece bathroom suites. All rooms come complete with air conditioning and a state of the art TV and audio system. Average size is 38 square metres.

We use the highest quality local seasonal produce and local suppliers for all our food and beverage outlets. The diverse range of bars available ranges from the traditional to the energetic and includes our glamorous late night champagne and cocktail venue.

SHAUN RANKIN
Originally from Yorkshire, Shaun Rankin honed his skills at The Mayfair Hotel in London and attended the Thames Valley University at Slough. Shaun’s love of the sea then took him to the Channel Islands where he spent the majority his career residing in Jersey.

In 2003 he joined Bohemia restaurant as Head Chef, gaining his first Michelin star in 2005. Shaun opened his own highly-acclaimed restaurant, Ormer in 2013 in St Helier which was awarded its first Michelin star four months after opening, as well as receiving three AA rosettes a few months later.

Following his success in Jersey, Shaun returned to London where he opened Ormer Mayfair, as well as the restaurant at 12 Hay Hill, also located in London’s Mayfair. Shaun has made numerous TV appearances including 2017 Masterchef UK when Ormer Mayfair was featured as a location for the programme.

MENUS
Our exceptional restaurant showcases locally grown and sourced ingredients; taking advantage of the herbs and vegetables grown in our very own Kitchen Garden. Using only the best raw ingredients from hand-picked suppliers we will be offering quality organic meat from nearby farms, specialty cheeses from across the county and fresh seafood from the nearby Yorkshire coast.

CHEF’S TABLE
The Chef’s Table is available for up to eight guests and is located at the heart of Shaun Rankin’s kitchen. With a dedicated front of house team and Head Sommelier, guests will be served an exclusive tasting menu by the Chefs who prepare each dish. A selection of wines carefully paired to accompany the exquisite food will complete this gastronomic journey.

Bar & Restaurant EightyEight offers a unique fusion of Yorkshire produce and far Eastern flavours. Design-led décor is set against the stunning backdrop of ornamental Japanese Gardens. EightyEight is more than just a restaurant – it’s an experience.

EIGHTYEIGHT TERRACE
Enjoy a truly unique dining experience on the EightyEight Terrace indulging in a fusion of far-eastern flavours and enticing drinks. Located next to the enchanting Japanese Garden and gentle sounds of its water features, the EightyEight Terrace makes for a beautiful setting to catch up with friends and family over lunch or dinner. No need to worry about the temperamental British weather as our terrace is fully covered.

FLETCHERS RESTAURANT
Our beautifully restored restaurant, Fletchers, sits within the Queen Anne wing of the Hall and is the perfect place to enjoy sophisticated, casual, all day dining set in a relaxed atmosphere. Combining traditional oak panelling with historic fireplaces, it is a place to admire our tranquil parkland setting.

The menu, served throughout the day, is comprised of British and European cuisine, made from the finest locally sourced seasonal produce and designed by our Head Chef, Craig Atchinson, and his team. Children over the age of 8 years old are welcome at Grantley Hall and can dine with their parents in Fletchers, however from 8pm onwards we have an over 12 policy. NORTON BAR AND COURTYARD
The epitome of our rich heritage; blending detailed oak panelling with modern opulence and luxury, Norton Bar and Courtyard is our resident and non-resident bar, serving classic cocktails, tantalising spirits and fine whiskies.

VALERIA’S
Filled with glitz, glamour and grace, Grantley Hall’s late-night champagne and cocktail bar, Valeria’s, is the place to be in Yorkshire. This den of old-world glamour and modern sophistication is an intimate and exclusive venue.

Set apart from the main hotel to ensure privacy and an exclusive ambience, the décor and design of Valeria’s champagne bar is reminiscent of the heady days of the 1920’s when parties ended only when the sun came up.

BESPOKE SCRUB, MUD AND POTALI RITUAL
A sound healing from our quartz crystal singing bowl with a foot ritual opens this ceremony-like healing treatment to balance and honour you before indulging you in a detoxifying salt body scrub and application of three mineral-rich active muds: rare black Peruvian, purple Amazonian and bio-energy green mud.

This is then followed by a Rose-milk pouring within your private steam room for a fully sensual experience, after which you will enjoy a cool refreshment before receiving an exquisite deep tissue Potali massage with our bespoke Three Graces poultices and warm oil.

IF YOU DON’T WANT TO TRAVEL FAR
Visit the delightful spa town of Harrogate. Take a dip in the thermal spa baths, walk through the lovely Valley Gardens and don’t forget to eat a fat rascal in Bettys Tea Room – a Yorkshire institution. Explore the small market city of Ripon – with its cobbled market square and impressive Cathedral you can easily spend a few hours soaking up the country charm of this North Yorkshire town.

A mere 6 miles away is the lovely little town of Ripley. With a 700 year old castle boasting magnificent grounds which you can walk through, a deer park and walled gardens, you can also access a number of pretty walks and bike trails from the village. Don’t forget to visit the famous ice-cream shop before you leave!

Knaresborough is a market town full of surprises – a warren of medieval streets, a hill top castle, picturesque riverside walks and the imposing railway viaduct ensure there is a stunning view around every corner.

Mother Shipton’s Cave is another Knaresborough ‘must-see’ attraction. Born in 1488, Mother Shipton was one of England’s most famous prophetess and predicted many things that were to happen in the future. A fascinating place for visitors of all ages.

Located on the other side of Ripon and hailed as one of England’s finest houses Newby Hall & Gardens has plenty to discover both indoors and within the 25 acres of award winning gardens.

A 30 minute drive will take you to the market town of Thirsk – best known as the home of vet, James Herriot. A central cobbled square still boasts a weekly market and some quirky independent shops to pick up a souvenir of your trip to Yorkshire.

IF YOU LIKE THE FRESH AIR
Take a walk to the amazing World Heritage Site and National Trust experience that is Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal. Located only 3 miles from the hotel you can walk there across the fields (maps available from reception), or drive there in less than 5 minutes. You will discover the impressive ruins of a 12th century abbey, a stunning water garden and two cafes to enjoy.

Also a short drive from the hotel, explore the natural spectacle that is Brimham Rocks. These giant rock formations were created 100 million years ago when dinosaurs walked the earth. The 70 metre high limestone cliff at Malham Cove has amazed visitors for centuries and is a highlight of any visit to North Yorkshire.

RHS Harlow Carr Gardens is one of England’s most relaxing and innovative gardens at the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales. Harlow Carr is a showcase of horticultural excellence located on the outskirts of Harrogate.

North York Moors – The moors have a rich heritage with wildlife, history, stunning scenery and nature. You will find an amazingly vibrant landscape offering many different activities and serene walks to enjoy.

White Scar Cave is the longest show cave in Britain. The guided tour takes approximately 80 minutes and you will experience an underground waterfall and over a mile of underground tunnels. Aysgarth Falls near Leyburn is a tranquil spot which offer access to some lovely walks around the area through ancient woodland to the local villages of Carperby or Aysgarth.

IF YOU LIKE HISTORY AND HERITAGE
Visit the medieval city of York where you will be spoilt for choice! Visit the impressive spires and stained glass windows of York Minster, take a walk around the original Castle Walls, get the best view of the city from Clifford’s Tower, marvel at the unrivalled collection of iconic locomotive at the National Railway Museum, meander through the Shambles or enjoy a leisurely boat trip along the River Ouse.

Harewood House is less than an hour’s drive from the hotel and a tour of the interior and fine art collection takes you back in time as you move from the rich furnishings upstairs to a view of the servants’ quarters down below.

Saltaire is a World Heritage site on the outskirts of Bradford and home to Salts Mill. This Grade ll listed historic mill was built by Sir Titus Salt along with the village of Saltaire to house his workers in 1853 and is only a 26 mile drive from our hotel. Playing host to many different exhibitions such as David Hockney’s gallery, Salts book and poster gallery, The Textile Process and Saltaire’s history.

Castle Howard, one of Britain’s finest historic houses and gardens, tells a story of ambition, public service, politics and artistic endeavours. It has hosted many famous names in its time from film and tv as well as being used as a backdrop for music videos.

Take a drive to the picturesque town of Pickering – which hosts a 1940s wartime weekend each October and take a ride on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway – a 24 mile trip which transports you through the decades – including a visit to the original Hogsmeade Station in the Harry Potter films.

KEEPING THE CHILDREN ENTERTAINED…
Lightwater Valley – with over 35 rides and attractions for thrill seekers of all ages, this theme park offers a great day out for all ages. Harewood House – located 20 miles from the hotel, Harewood House and estate have much to offer – the 18th century house is in excellent condition and worth a tour, the grounds offer pretty walks, a bird sanctuary and children’s playground and an excellent café will ensure you don’t go hungry.

Jorvik Viking Centre in central York – Hop aboard the Jorvik ride and be transported back to the Viking-age of York, 960AD. This is one of York’s top rated attractions and is both informative and fun.

Stockeld Park – 17.5 miles from Grantley Hall, Stockeld Park is fun for all the family. With walks around The Enchanted Forest with its animated sculptures, Gretel’s cabin and themed play areas there is so much to keep the family entertained.

EAVESTONE LAKE
Explore the best of what nature has to offer in the beautiful local woodlands and listen to the tranquil sounds of the river Skell as it meanders its way through verdant fields. This walk will also take you to Eavestone lake, where sandstone boulders and crags line the edge of the lake, ideal for climbing or simply to admire these stunning natural rock formations.

FOUNTAINS ABBEY WALK
This walk will take you through two miles of quaint woodland, following the river Skell until you reach Fountains Abbey; an ancient abbey ruins and World Heritage Site that is home to an awe-inspiring water garden.
