Situated between the famous Pont du Gard and the medieval city of Uzès we are glad to offer you the opportunity to stay in our establishment. After 25 years Mr and Mrs Aparis are handing over the Castellas to their daughter Aurelie and son-in-law David.

Chef will let you discover a new way of cooking. Charm and elegance between Provence and Languedoc. The Hostellerie Le Castellas is a group of 17th century buildings, restored in the manner of the stones of Vers Pont du Gard and the delightful style of the Languedoc region.

Each room is individually decorated in a variety of styles from art deco to art nouveau and even baroque. A touch of modern comfort completes each one of the room/each one of them.

Two magnificent stone-vaulted lounge rooms open on to a zen shaded garden cover by a variety of plant species. Below this garden, a swimming pool with jacuzzi is an invitation to calm and relaxation. Here the word pleasure takes on its full meaning as everything is designed for the well being and enjoyment of our guests.

Areas for relaxation, original and charming details form a brilliant combination of materials, colours and light. In this utter heaven of peace and gourmet pleasure, the Hostellerie Le Castellas welcomes you for an idyllic stay.

Collias is located on the left bank of the river Gardon and owes its origins to the ancient Greeks. The successive occupants left their traces in the village – the caves were occupied in the Palaeolithic era, and there are traces of Roman, pagan and early Christian occupation in the national heritage listed site of The Ermitage.

The almost virgin landscapes of the Gardon Gorges and the huge plateaux overlooking the river are a paradise for hikers, while water sports are plentiful on the river itself. Until the 19th century, Collias was a silk-producing centre. It is also the birthplace of the “picholine” olive.

From art deco to modern art and even Baroque art, each of the 13 guestrooms and suites in the Hostellerie Le Castellas will take you on an artistic journey through time. They are all decorated with originality and flair. Some of them communicate and it is possible to add extra beds or cots.

Amenities
When you arrive, go to the Hostellerie Le Castellas car park, which is located in Rue du Barry, a road parallel to the Castellas. It is free and protected by an alarm system. However, we cannot be held responsible in case of damage or theft. The hotel is located at 30, Grand Rue, a very short distance from the car park.

Go into the main building where a warm welcome awaits you, and we will help you make the most of your stay. Feel like a break or a glass of something? Settle down in the Boudoir Lounge or why not go straight into our garden? Take in the atmosphere.

Gastronomic restaurant in the Gard
The restaurant at the Hostellerie Le Castellas will awaken all your senses with a range of gourmet delights. Inside, the vaulted rooms made of stone from Vers Pont du Gard create a unique welcoming atmosphere.

Outside, as soon as the sun is up, the tables are laid on the terraces, allowing guests to savour the beautiful surroundings. Starting with the buffet breakfast, you can taste the Chef’s homemade jams, marmalades, cakes and fruit salads, all colourful, full of vitamins and deliciously tasty. An excellent way to start the day.

Our chef will satisfy every desire – festive meals, with friends or family, or business lunches. Le Castellas will make any meal a moment of intense delight.
The menus change every 15 days and we have suggestions every day.

The Lounge bar and restaurant
The lounge is open every night from 18.00pm to 22.30 pm. It is situated in the upper terrace which has a beautiful view on the roofs of the village.

We can also propose you smoked salmon, cheese, raw and cooked ham, tapas, cocktails, infusions, champagne. Only at night or on the day if you are at the hotel… come and enjoy this moment on the terrace.

Picnics
Take the Uzège nature path and take in the colours, the secrets and the smells in the surrounding countryside. A delightful walk will take you from Uzes to see the beautiful landscapes, along little paths through the villages and up to the top of the Gardon Gorges, ending at the Pont du Gard.

By the end of the first day, you’ll need to relax by the pool at the Castellas hotel. Sandwich (baguette, vegetables, lettuce, Pélardon goat’s cheese and ham), garden salad, chips, fruit in season, cake, 1/2l. bottle of water, a disposable paper bag and disposable cutlery and plates.

Brunch
Brunch propose you different type of bread, cakes, fruits salad, fruits, cheese, ham, sausage, eggs, hot drinks, wine, hot main course, pastries, ice cream…

The Kitchen Garden
It contains a remarkable collection of aromatic and culinary herbs (borage, hyssop, camomile, nasturtium, absinth, oregan, curry, lemon thyme, etc.), vegetables (rhubarb, seven varieties of tomatoes, four varieties of strawberries, courgettes, aubergines, peppers, etc.) and flowers (sunflower, cosmos, lavender, dahlia, etc.) for an infinite variety of cooking and decoration.

The frequent and enthusiastic discussions between the chef and David Perrier lead to all sorts of ideas and suggestions for the garden in a friendly atmosphere.

This artist-gardener is never short of ideas for developing the garden at the Hostellerie Le Castellas thanks to his brilliant university education, his intuition and his love of nature.

Wellness center

We will welcome you to our Hammam (Turkish bath) , our massages rooms, face and body care. You can also take time in our warm swimming pool, a peaceful place!

The swimming pool
For a moment of pure bliss, come and enjoy the peace and quiet in our idyllic heated swimming pool.

Water, that precious gift of life, flows gently over your shoulders from the swan’s beak. The jacuzzi will relax and energise you. Why not treat yourself to one of our massages? We have shiatsu, Californian and more.

Esthetician
Passionated by well being and meeting clients, I will welcome you friendly and let you discover my universe. I must share with you my knowledges and l give you the best I can. Depending on your feelings, your behavior or your wishes, I will find the best approach of massages to relax you.

Working days
For your working days, why not book at the Hostellerie Le Castellas? The « White Room » is perfect for meetings and seminars. This 30m2 conference room can seat up to 20 people and is fully modular.

It has a paperboard, white screen, a video projector and wifi access. Other equipments are available on request. A sub-commission room is also available in the Maison Du Barry, opposite Le Castellas. For breaks, our Chef will concoct some delicious savoury or sweet snacks.

Those seeking more thrills and excitement might like to go down the Gorges in a canoe, scale the impressive vertical rock walls, specially equipped for climbing, the “Via Ferrata”, or go paragliding above Uzès. You can also play tennis on the court in Collias.

When the summer sun is too hot and you are in need of some shade and cooler air, there are many shady paths where nature lovers can enjoy a walk on foot, mountain bike or on horseback (along bridle paths marked out by the French horse and riding institute) to breathe in the sights and smells of this green mini paradise.

This landscape, bathed in light and inhabited by the sing-song accent of the south, has always been an unfailing source of inspiration for artists.

Culture & heritage

The Hostellerie Le Castellas is the start of a great journey of discovery by the combination of leisure, culture and history that are found in the surrounding towns and cities. At 7km from the stone village of Collias is the famous Pont du Gard, admired by over a million tourists each year.

The aqueduct is famous for its simple yet amazingly grand arches which give it an appearance of astonishing lightness. The Roman aqueduct took 15 years to be completed.

It stretches way beyond the Pont du Gard, with over fifty kilometres of winding stones built to contain the canal which, for centuries, has watered the magnificent Jardins de la Fontaine in Nîmes.

Further north
The town of Uzès (7km away) welcomes visitors in style with its most famous monument, the Ducal Palace, known as the First Duchy of France. Its astonishing architecture is one of the best representations of the history of France.
