In 2015 the Hotel Académie underwent an ambitious renovation programme to provide our guests with an even more refined ambiance and the level of service to be expected from a 4 star hotel.
The new décor is inspired by the “Grand Siècle” to preserve the soul and tradition of the establishment. The Hotel Académie retained craftsmen from the great French artistic houses and decided to use nothing but the highest quality materials. Careful attention was paid to every detail.
THE HISTORY
Built in 1900 as a boarding house, the building quickly became a favoured rendez-vous venue for intellectuals who liked its location in the centre of Saint-Germain-des-Prés where they could rent a room for the year. Albert Camus, Jean-Paul Sartre, Simone de Beauvoir, Robert Kobayashi and many others became fixtures.
After the war the boarding house was enlarged to become a hotel. Since the beginning of the 1970s a single family, for whom even the smallest detail is important, has kept a watchful eye over the soul of this unique establishment.
ROOMS & SUITES
The décor in the rooms and suites, like that in the public areas, combines tastefully restored period furniture and modern pieces made of high quality materials – wood, cork, silk, crystal, bronzes from the history of French art and bright and gleaming fabrics from the top designers.
Like a small palace, the Hotel Académie has 33 very comfortable rooms and suites of refined décor in three colour schemes, all inspired by history: crimson and gold in the style of Napoleon III; powder pink and silver in memory of Marie-Antoinette; and pale blue and gold in the colours of the Kings of France.
Fabrics, solid oak floors, exposed stone and wooden beams, plaster mouldings – the Hotel Académie accommodates its guests in stylish comfort with high quality fittings, luxury bedding and brightly lit ultra modern bathrooms. If you want to fully enjoy the peace and quiet of your room or suite, you can ask for room service to bring breakfast or dinner directly to you.
FAMILY ROOMS
Two Deluxe rooms with a connecting door can be combined together to make it the perfect stay for a family with children. One room has a double bed for the parents and the other has twin beds for the children. You also have the comfort of two bathrooms.
JUNIOR SUITES
With floorspace of 20 – 24 m², the 7 Junior suites are quiet and spacious. Each room has a large 180 x 200 cm King size bed or twin beds. They have a sleeping area and separate sitting room area with table, fireside chair and desk. Ideal for a romantic weekend.
DELUXE ROOMS

For business functions or private events, the Hotel Académie has two modular rooms which can accommodate 2 to 25 people.
