HIKING IN THE COMPANY OF A LOCAL GUIDE
Enjoy the services of a professional guide to lead you along your snowshoe hiking excursions, and adventure beyond the well-beaten path to discover the Alps from a new angle.

As you round a bend, your guide might invite you to come closer to a river to admire its ice crystals, to explore snowy fields or to hurtle down the powdery slopes; you might also enjoy spotting the local wildlife by following fresh prints in the snow.

YOUR EQUIPMENT FOR A SNOWSHOE EXCURSION ON YOUR OWN
Winter hiking is indeed a dream-come-true, but this activity requires specialised equipment even if you’ll just be out for a day. Remember to gear up with:

  • Three layers of clothing;
  • An additional anorak in your knapsack;
  • Ski suit bottoms or other trousers that are insulated and water-resistant, with built-in gaiters;
  • If possible, choose warm, water-proof shoes;
  • And make sure you have thick socks
  • It is important to cover your head as well as your ears, neck and hands. A pair of finely lined gloves are perfect.

Oh, and don’t forget your camera!

WINTER SPORTS SPECIALISTS
Professionals of winter sports at all levels, the Ecole du Ski Français of Courchevel (ESF) offers the opportunity to learn a new discipline or refine your existing skills in the company of enthusiastic mountain sport specialists.

Experts in both on-piste and off-piste, snowboarding and all other ways of getting down the snowy slopes of Courchevel, a number of ESF monitors are available to you throughout your stay to provide you with the best recommendations on the latest winter sports trends.

SKI LESSONS IN COURCHEVEL
From our establishment, Chalet Hôtel de La Loze in Courchevel 1850, strap on your skis and set out for a day to learn the ski basics in the company of a private monitor.

If your level is already advanced, the ESF invites you to join a group of eight people for a faster ski through the resort in a spirit of improvement. A ski lesson enables you to share in your monitor’s knowledge and allow him or her to guide you off the marked pistes if you request it.

Make the most of this special attention with the ESF of Courchevel to discover a new passion and try out some new techniques such as:

  • Snowboard
  • Freestyle
  • Off-piste
  • Cross-country skiing
  • Downhill skiing
  • Para-alpine skiing

CHILDREN’S SKIING LESSONS IN COURCHEVEL 1850
At the children’s centre located at the centre of Courchevel 1850, your kids can learn the basics and discover the joys of skiing for the first time with the Piou-Piou club.

In a safe setting supervised by an ESF monitor, your kids have fun as they work to gain their first medal, the Flocon de neige. When they gain a little confidence, they’ll be awarded a first star.

These children’s skiing lessons are available for a half-day, full day or full week. Thus the ESF enables parents to fully enjoy the vast 3 Valleys ski area and its 600 km (373 mi) of pistes.

Then, when the children have improved their techniques, you can set out with them on the snowy slopes to discover their progress and snap a few souvenir photos.
