From the small pension to the 5*S Hotel Resort
Once upon a time there was a poor little boy who lived on a hill in the deep Black Forest and dreamt of … that’s how fairy tales start. But the Dollenberg fairy tale is a real story – and the the little boy was dreaming of becoming the director of a luxury hotel.
Meinrad Schmiederer was a cook at first, then he completed an apprenticeship in hotel management at the legendary “Bühler Höhe”. At just 21 years of age he took over the small boarding house with snack bar which his parents had started in the meantime.
Out of that boarding house he created the 5*S Relais & Châteaux Hotel Resort which now can be found in all well-known hotel, restaurant and spa guides.

The St. Anna Chapel
The beautiful St. Anna Chapel is located high above the hotel on Dollenberg Mountain. Our hotel director, Meinrad Schmiederer, had it built in 2004. It is open to hotel guests as well as locals and hikers. Every visitor finds peace and inner contemplation in St. Anna Chapel.
Here, your soul can breathe. Services for major holidays, such as Christmas and Easter, are celebrated in the chapel and there are also chapel concerts on special occasions.
Due to its unique location and proximity to the hotel, the romantic chapel is predestined for weddings. Many couples have already made their lifelong bonds here and celebrated afterward in the Hotel Dollenberg with its award-winning cuisine. A little later, the couples gladly return to this special place for the christening of their children.

Rays of sunshine fall between tall fir trees on soft forest soil, forest flowers greet along the way. Powerful landscapes alternate with enchanted fairy-tale places – time and again accompanied by a view of the Rhine Valley to the Vosges Mountains.

Cross-country skiing, downhill skiing, sledding & ice skating
You can glide through the winter wonderland of Bad Peterstal-Griesbach on four cross-country trails between 3 and 11 km. If you want to ski downhill: You can reach the winter sports areas “Kniebis” and “Zuflucht” in about 20 minutes, others are waiting for you along the Black Forest scenic highway.
There you will also find toboggan slopes (some with floodlights until 10 pm) – and on the open-air artificial ice rink at Wiedenfelsen/Bühlertal you can skate, try curling, play ice hockey or go ice-karting.
