So you can enjoy being part or Glòria and we will do everything to make your stay the best! Here is a glimpse of the story of Glòria de Sant Jaume from her ancestors, when she was born and what she has become today. It is a project conceived by a family with enthusiasm and dedication.
History
Number 18 of the Carrer Sant Jaume has its origins according to the registry of Palma in the 16th century, conserving still some signs of the medieval construction.
Since then it has passed through several owners, one of them being a Catalan aristocrat who divided the house giving a part to the church and where today there is still a convent converted into a school but where the house still conserves an adjoining room.
In the most recent history, at the end of the 19th century, the main branch of the family Palou de Comasema closely linked to the arrival of King Jaume I to Mallorca and well known for its various properties in the Balearic Islands finally fixed their residence in Palma and specifically in this house on the Carrer Sant Jaume. At that time it became known as Ca’n Palou de Comasema.
In 1870 the family made a superb renovation that modernized it and gave it its unique character of fin de siècle style to its noble floor with colourful tiling of the famous Catalan factory Escofet, tall windows, carved woodwork and large stone arches of Santanyi.
Today and as evidence of the date of this reform not only are there all the unique elements but also newspaper clippings that appeared behind the wallpapers of the rooms and that give us an insight into how they lived in those times.
For the interest of guests several of these clippings have been framed and hang on several corridors of the hotel. Later in the1930’s the second floor was restored with new rooms, bathrooms and kitchen. Hence, the house has two floors of very different style but at the same time with similar character.
The Palou de Comasema family continued living in it until a few years ago when they decided to sell it and was acquired by a new family, the Cabau family, thus passing the house from one family to another.
From this point, a new chapter is opened when the Cabau family with a hotel industry background decides to transform the house into their dreamed singular hotel.
Rooms
The philosophy of feeling in an authentic Mallorquin manorial home has been the theme during the meticulous integral reform of this listed building.
Preservation of the existing original components and of many others that were discovered during the process was key to return the authentic but also elegant and warm atmosphere to all areas of the hotel.
This philosophy is also reflected in the 5 star individualized service for each guest with a casual and distended style to feel even more at home.
Each one of our luxurious rooms is luminous and cheerful. Materials and elements are common to all rooms but each one has singularities that provide each room with its own identity making it exclusive, ideal to relax and rest.
Suite Duplex
Out of the ordinary room built on two levels thanks to the original height of the ceiling in this part of the house. Ideal for customers who need more space.
On the lower part there is a spacious living room with a full bathroom and second level is dominated by a large bed, free standing bath and closet. The feeling of luxury is inarguable thanks to its large windows and unique elements.
In this wing of the house the original ceiling is extraordinarily high because ballroom was located here. In order to preserve this unique height, it was decided to create a suite with two levels, unique in Palma. The fireplace in the room is the original of this spectacular room.
Superior Junior Suite
Very spacious manor rooms where the luminosity is surprising for the old town of Palma. Their privileged location makes them the most unique rooms in the entire hotel and their characteristics are charming and one of a kind.

The Hotel Glòria de Sant Jaume invites you to discover its restaurant and bar “El Patio de Glòria”. An elegant space but at the same time cozy with a relaxed and carefree atmosphere where the smallest detail is taken care of.
The open courtyard with the original water fountain of the house is a quiet place isolated from the hustle and bustle of the city to come at any time of the day. A concept of gastronomy based on the combination of classic flavours with Mediterranean nuances made with local ingredients of the highest quality.
The menu surprises with a healthy and natural line thanks to the seasonal products that are accompanied with an attractive and unique range of wines, cavas, champagnes or cocktails..
The Patio de Glòria has wide opening hours so its and ideal meeting place for any time of the day, be it for a coffee in the morning, a vermouth at noon or a gin and tonic at night.
Breakfast is open to all public and offers a selection of local delicacies in the form of a small buffet and a menu of hot dishes prepared to your liking on the spot.
Wellness
Rest and well-being are very valuable in today’s fast-paced times so we have created spaces to help you free yourself from your routine, our spa and roof-top terrace.
The spa located in the basement of the house boasts of a large pool, possibly the longest in Palma old town, which enters the original water reservoir with vaulted ceiling.
The sandstone walls and natural colours create an atmosphere of peace and serenity. For your enjoyment you will find the sauna, steam bath, a relaxation area with tea service as well as the large pool with hydromassage and majestic shower sensation.
If you wish we can also arrange personalized treatments and private yoga sessions. The roof-top of the house is an outdoor space to enjoy the tranquility of the old town and enjoy a few hours of sun with the view of the sky-line of Palma and cool off in the jacuzzi.
Events
Gloria de Sant Jaume is a magnificent place to celebrate events, be it a work meeting, corporate presentation, wedding or private celebration. Our meeting room with capacity for 25 people, very unique as it is located within the neighbouring convent is a highlight for the event itself.
The room is equipped with the best technology for all needs and uses. There is the possibility of privatizing the entire hotel or some of its spaces, such as our Roof-top terrace, El Patio de Glòria or the meeting room.
Weddings
If you are looking for a romantic and idyllic place to celebrate the most special day of your life, Glòria de Sant Jaume is the ideal place. We offer an individualized service to please the wishes of each couple.
Together with the chef we elaborate the menu for the celebration, be it a flying buffet or a menu in our restaurant with aperitif in the roof-top or Spa.

If you wish, we can organize nautical days with jet ski rentals, yacht charters with or without skipper, paddle surfing, diving and a long etc … since Mallorca is a place for people of the sea.
CYCLING
If you enjoy cycling, Mallorca, especially outside the summer season is a favourite place for many, both amateurs and professionals practice this sport due to the contrasts in the landscape and good weather. We can manage the rental of specialized bicycles as well as manage the storage of your bicycle if you bring it with you.
For the less professional, Palma offers many bike lanes to move around the city and get to know it at a less accelerated and more ecological pace. The bike path that runs from the promenade along the Playa de Palma is highly recommended as the views and marine air are very relaxing and fill you with vitality.
