Our goal is to exceed the expectations of our discerning guests again, every day new. With specialties from our “Soul Kitchen”, the heart of the home. Joy of pleasure you will experience in our restaurants Ars Vivendi, Jagdhofstuben, in Fuhrmann pub or on our beautiful terrace.

The ambiance of this refined restaurant is the perfect setting for an ever-changing culinary experience of award-winning changing guest chefs.

After our first guest chef Preetam Singh Sodi from India, our second guest chef Fabio Cirillo from the Amalfi Coast and our third guest chef Christopher Sakoschek (nominated for Chef of the Year) from Austria, the Greek top chef Nikos Patsioras, from the regional district Evros, cooked special delicacies and modern specialties from December 2017 to January 2018 at the Jagdhof.

Jagdhofstuben
Our famous Rôtisserie may be a bit more of everything. The decor will astonish the guest as much as the offer of the kitchen and cellar. Fresh venison and finest grilled dishes from our Spanish Josper charcoal grill and superb wines for gourmets and connoisseurs. Various theme nights always make the Jagdhofstuben interesting.

Fuhrmannskneipe
The very cozy, rustic and loving decoration of the Fuhrmannsschänke tells you how it all began: Hungry travelers entered the tavern. They searched and found warmth, sociability, a fortifying meal and a good drink – still today.

Furthermore, we serve you our traditional Jäger- and Fuhrmannswirtshausn menu. The taste of our home… eat like in the good old days. Enjoy our popular Jagdhof “Wirtsstuben Specialties”.

Regional & urban
Purely from the geographical point of view, the fabulous forests of Wittgenstein border on the south-easterly tip of Sauerland. But what does that actually tell us? Quite simply: this is a vacation paradise set in the immense glory of untouched nature. Far from the madding crowd, but all the more full of life – real life.

Siegen-Wittgenstein
Siegen-Wittgenstein is one of Germany’s most afforested regions. In the variegated highland landscape, reaching up to 800 m.a.s.l., can be found the sources of the Sieg, Lahn and Eder rivers.

Enthusiasts can practise more than 45 different sports here all year round, including football, tennis, paragliding, cross-country skiing, ice-skating, and of course cycling and hiking along about 3500 kilometres of marked paths.

Bad Laasphe
The town of Bad Laasphe and its surrounding villages not only have a lot to offer, but are also interesting from the historical point of view. Bad Laasphe lies in the upper Lahn valley, in the former Wittgenstein district.

The municipal area is located south-east of the main crest of the Rothaar range, part of the Rhineland slate hills, and borders in the north on the towns of Bad Berleburg and Erndtebrück, in the east on the town of Biedenkopf in Hessen, in the southeast on Breidenbach, in the south on Dietzhölztal and in the west on the town of Netphen.

The highest elevation here, and in the entire southern Rothaar range, is Kompass mountain at 693.9 m.a.s.l. near the outlying centre of Heiligenborn.

Its flanks are the source of the streams flowing through the municipal area: Bernshäuser Bach, Sohler Bach-Fischelbach, Gonderbach and Ilse. Not far south-west of Lahnhof, a small suburb to the east of Netphen, is the source of the Lahn river. (WIKIPEDIA)

Activities
Admittedly, it is your home away from home. After a while the endless variety of outdoor activities that you can experience in our surrounding will certainly get you outside.

However, we have some marvelous ideas to give you unforgettable moments: barbeques, wine-tastings, a traditional Wittgenstein picnic in the woods, and of course our legendary cuisine parties and cocktail courses.

Winter activities
Memorable winter experiences of all kinds await at Relais & Châteaux Hotel Jagdhof Glashütte. Explore and discover what makes Siegerland and Wittgenstein to a beautiful winter destination.

The 700 meters high Rothaar-trail or the 275 kilometers long “narrow-gauge railways” that are running through the white mountains and forests can be one of your moments. With a perfect winter location comes a perfect mix of exceptional experiences for all guests from cross-country skiing and sledding to hiking.

Jagdhof Exclusive – Unique experiences
BALLOONING
Ballooning is one of the last nostalgic adventures of our time. An experience that no one will forget and everybody has dreamed of. Certainty, it would be a nice gift to your beloved once and for sure it has also superior value to other gifts.

Starting smoothly from our large meadow in front of the hotel you will enjoy gliding soundless through the sky. Admire the special attractions that holds the ballooning in all seasons.

After your first balloon ride you will be baptized as a real balloonist following the ancient tradition from the year 1783. From a “simple aardvark” (so called all non-balloonist) to a balloonist. The tradition comes with earth, fire, and sparkling wine.

DEER CALLING TASSO WOLZENBURG
The hunting call – thus called also the deer call – is a for centuries known tradition. The aim of onomatopoeia is to lure out the alpha male from the rutting place by imitation of a rival.

Especially created ox horns, ranellidae casing, glass cylinder, the Heracleumrohr (the hollow stems of giant hogweed) and a series of manmade instruments serve to strengthen the sound.

HELICOPTER TOURS
Are you looking for an unusual and marvelous experience? We will fulfill your dream of a flight with a helicopter over the forests of Wittgenstein. See the region of Wittgenstein from a another perspective: Flying with a helicopter is a particular adventure!

Feel the independency – Explore and discover your skills and have your own challenge by pilot your helicopter (!). Take a scenic flight, a non-binding trial flight or spend a day as a pilot. In Jagdhof nothing is impossible!

Sightseeing
RADIO MUSEUM
Hans Necker’s International Radio Museum in Bad Laasphe is unique worldwide. His collection of historical radio sets gives a comprehensive overview of the technical origins and development of wireless communication.

Out of about 3000 sets in total, a thousand radio sets are on show at any one time, plus 350 exhibits entitled “Radio curiosities”.

FUNGUS MUSEUM
Officially opened 1987 in the “Haus des Gastes”, the fungus museum was primarily initiated by mushroom expert Heinrich Lücke. Back in the 1970s, numerous guests on his instructive excursions had already expressed a wish for fungus demonstrations independent of the weather.

The fungus museum in Bad Laasphe was realized on the strength of his contact with Dr. Markus Hallermeier, who had succeeded in freeze-drying mushrooms. Meanwhile almost 700 different species are on show here, mainly from the Bad Laasphe area but also including exotic fungi from other regions.

Such a comprehensive overview of the entire mushroom species is otherwise only possible in very few large museums worldwide. The Bad Laasphe fungus museum therefore plays a key role as mycological know-how centre in Germany.

BREITENBACH DAM AND RESERVOIR
Between Dahlbruch and Allenbach (access across the dam) is Breitenbach drinking water reservoir, with a capacity of 7.8 million cubic metres.

Obernautal drinking water reservoir, holding 15 million cubic metres, is the largest in the Siegerland district and attracts pleasure-seekers from near and far. Around the lake is an asphalted path 11 kilometres long opening up beautiful views over the water to the wooded slopes. Obernautalsperre

Culture
There are many famous castles and fortresses to be discovered in the beautiful countryside around the Jagdhof Glashütte. And if you are lucky, you might even meet a princess…

SIEGEN UPPER CASTLE
This castle on Siegberg mountain, first documented in 1259, was the ancestral seat of the Nassau dynasty in the Middle Ages. The Siegerland museum located here since 1905 houses a wonderful collection of regional exhibits, including a visitors’ mine (artificial), and numerous paintings.

The highlight is certainly a number of works by Siegen’s most famous son Peter Paul Rubens including several portraits of the Nassau and Orange families.

The top floor is dedicated to contemporary living in the nineteenth century, as exemplified by a Siegerland kitchen, a bedroom and several examples of Biedermeier furniture. Siegerlandmuseum, Oberes Schloss zu Siegen

SIEGEN LOWER CASTLE
At the end of the seventeenth century the lower castle was built in its open rectangular form. It served as a residence for the evangelical lineage of the Nassau-Siegen dynasty, whose family crypt is to be found here.

It also incorporates the “Fat Tower” with carillon. In 1959 the municipality of Siegen erected a memorial here for the victims of war and tyranny. Unteres Schloss Siegen

GINSBURG RUIN
Ginsburg was built in the 12th century by the Nassau dynasty for border fortification, and has been undergoing reconstruction since 1961.

Its historical importance is documented by a German-Dutch memorial to William of Orange, who gathered his forces here in 1568 for the Netherlands Revolt. An exhibition inside the castle pays tribute to this, and it is also worth ascending the tower. Ruine Ginsburg –

BAD BERLEBURG CASTLE
The castle museum houses parts of the princely art collection, with portraits of the Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg family and extensive collections of weapons, hunting paraphernalia and trophies, together with family uniforms.

Particularly notable are also numerous porcelain and engraved glass exhibits of 18th-century German manufacture. Afterwards it is worth taking time to relax in the wonderful castle park. Bad Berleburg

WILLIAM’S TOWER
The Wilhelmsturm was built on the former mountain castle courtyard site between 1872 and 1875 with German-Dutch financing. Princess Marianne of the Netherlands herself contributed 18,000 of the 29,122 thalers total cost.

William I of Orange, born here in 1533, erected this tower as a lasting monument to himself. Still the landmark of Dillenburg, it is described by a modern critic as “A combination of calculated romanticism with fundamentally monumental architecture”.

Today the tower houses a museum whose exhibits mainly deal with the history of the Nassau and Orange-Nassau dynasties. Wilhelmsturm, Dillenburg

MARBURG LANDGRAVE’S CASTLE
This majestic castle towering over the old town centre is one of Marburg’s principle attractions.

The most ancient visible parts of the building date back to the thirteenth century, when the first Hessian Landgrave Heinrich I, grandson of St. Elisabeth, built his residence here.

The newest part, known as the Wilhelmsbau, was started in 1493 and is now a five-storey building housing the University Museum of Cultural History. In the west wing basement visitors can also see remains of the older fortifications dating back to the ninth and tenth centuries. Marburg, Landgrafenschloss

RUBENS COLLECTION
Siegerland Museum of Art and Cultural History grew out of the Siegen school museum opened in 1902, and has been located in the upper castle ever since 1905. The highlight is certainly a collection of portraits by Peter Paul Rubens of the Nassau and Orange families. Rubenssammlung

MUSEUM OF MODERN ART
Siegen Museum of Contemporary Art is dedicated to influential positions in contemporary art ranging from painting, photography and film to spatial and temporal installations.

Its main focus is aimed at contemporary art practice and its roots while pursuing the exciting changes in artistic themes and strategies, interrelationships and references prevalent in modern art.

The museum’s primary objective is to promote and enhance our understanding and appreciation of art while feeling equally committed both to art itself and to our visitors. Museum für Gegenwartskunst

SIEGEN THEATRE
On September 1, 2007 Siegen opened its first theatre – the Apollo Theatre converted from the former Apollo cinema centre. Since 1992 Lÿz Media and Culture Centre has been the setting for small-scale art, cabaret, musical and theatrical performances. About 150 performances take place each season on the two stages here. Apollosiegen, Theater

DREHKOITE, GIRKHAUSEN
A “Drehkoite” (or “Drehkaute”) is a wood turning lathe installed in a 60 – 70 cm cavity beneath the floor. In former times these lathes were mostly in the living area instead of in a separate workshop.

This saved heating costs – the living room was not only a workshop, but often a bedroom as well. With the Girkhausen method, still used today, up to five wooden bowls of various sizes can be turned from a single piece of wood with special tools.

The lathe is operated manually by a treadboard pedal and a leather belt that rotates the headstock and workpiece. Drehkoite, Girkhausen

Nature
It is the sheer magnificence of Nature here that thrills our guests again and again.

EUROPEAN BISON
Europe’s heaviest surviving land animal is coming back: European bison, also known as wisent, are being released in the Rothaar mountains. Within the framework of a unique reintroduction project, these bison previously threatened with extinction are now returning to their original habitat here.

The goal of re-establishing a wild bison population can only be reached by ensuring their sustainable survival. By the beginning of the twentieth century these glorious animals were almost extinct because their majestic beauty, impressive size and – last but not least – their rarity, had made them highly desirable hunting trophies.

This is therefore one of Europe’s most important species protection projects: after an intensive rehabilitation phase, wild bison will be freely roaming the forests again here for the first time in 850 years!

It is also planned to keep some of these wonderful animals in captivity: twelve of them in an enclosed area of 35 hectares will delight not only the Jagdhof guests. Wisente, Rothaargebirge

HOHENROTH GAME ENCLOSURE
The beautiful red deer living in this region are so shy that you can hardly ever see them. But Hilchenbach forestry office and Hohenroth timberland association have solved this problem by opening a 50-hectare deer enclosure around Hohenroth forester’s lodge.

Protected by 2.8 kilometres of fencing, two stags and thirteen hinds now live in these woodlands at the source of the Netphe. They not only enjoy plenty of natural space and rest areas here, but are also more easily seen by visitors. Waldland, Hohenroth

Sport and exercise
There are innumerable paths waiting to be discovered in the surrounding forests, ideal for hiking, mountain biking or Nordic Walking respectively.

Golfers can improve their handicap on some first-class courses here, Wittgenstein is a hunters’ heaven, and in winter you can go skiing (not only cross-country) and sledging.

Among other possibilities at the Jagdhof there’s also fishing, kite-flying, quadbike tours, boules, archery, paragliding, go-carting, Kyrillpfad path hiking, Wittgenstein star canopy discovery tours, guided herbal hikes… but you’ll be back in time for dinner, won’t you?
