Today, Metropole Hotel boasts over 2000 antiques, exhibited in a museum-like manner: 19th-century business card holders, evening clutch purses dating back to the Belle Époque, quirky corkscrews and nutcrackers, as well as one of the most complete Italian collections of Crucifixes and a whole floor dedicated exclusively to majestic and unique folding

The Metropole is situated along Riva degli Schiavoni, next to Chiesa della Pietà church and just a few steps away from Piazza San Marco, the Giardini della Biennale gardens and the city’s major tourist attractions. An amazing location, overlooking the Venetian Lagoon with breathtaking views from its rooms and suites.

Past and present connected by Music

• 1500 the building that is now known as the Metropole Hotel appeared for the first time on one of Jacopo De Barbari’s maps
• 1686 the space that now hosts our Orientalbar was the oratory where Antonio Vivaldi gave music lessons and composed his greatest masterpieces
• 1880 the building became home to Casa Kirsch and then to Albergo Metropole, at the beginning of the 20th century
• 1895 – 1901 Sigmund Freud, Marcel Proust and Thomas Mann stayed at the hotel
• 1942-1945 the hotel was turned into a military hospital
• 1968 after a long restoration process, the hotel was acquired by Pierluigi and Elisabeth Beggiato, a historic family of hoteliers. Today, their daughter Gloria is on the front line of managing this special place with her unmistakable charm, passion and tenacity

With their own distinctive charm and breathtaking views, all rooms and suites of the Metropole are decorated to the highest standards, boasting unique antiques and authentic handcrafted Venetian artefacts.

EXCLUSIVE LAGOON VIEW – DAMASCO SUITE
Overlooking the hotel’s main façade, this magnificently intriguing suite offers a beautiful panoramic view of the Venetian lagoon and San Giorgio Island. Its precious décor is inspired by the Orient, with silver and mother-of-pearl mosaics, Bevilacqua fabrics and Fortuny chandeliers.

An exclusive “Hammam” Turkish bath, as well as a seductive mosaic-tiled bath in the lounge, create an unforgettable ambience. Flooded with natural light and featuring a wide window, the main bathroom delights guests with a comfortable, spacious shower, whereas the lavatories are in a separate room.

There is also a second bedroom with an ensuite bathroom. Upon arrival, guests are welcomed with an ice-cold bottle of wine and a candlelit atmosphere to celebrate the beginning of their unforgettable stay in Venice.

SUITE WITH LAGOON VIEW TERRACE
Indulge in the breathtaking view of the heart of the lagoon and of Venice’s rooftops from the beautiful altana, the traditional Venetian wooden terrace, that magically turns into the perfect location for aperitifs at sunset. Although all suites have their own distinctive style, what they truly stand out for are peculiar luxurious details, period furniture and exclusive “Hammam” Turkish baths.

LAGOON VIEW JUNIOR SUITE
Precious, warm and intimate, these suites overlook the hotel’s main façade and offer an astonishing panoramic view of Venice’s lagoon and San Giorgio Island. Antiques and period furniture are its main elements of décor, and a lounge corner makes this suite even cosier.

In one of our lagoon-view Junior Suites, our guests can admire the original design from the Sixties, with its rare authentic furniture and Jacuzzi® bath. The marble or mosaic-tiled bathrooms feature comfortable baths, and are flooded with natural light thanks to a large window with breathtaking views of the Venetian lagoon.

CANAL VIEW DELUXE
Our canal-view Deluxe rooms are comfortable, elegant and offer evocative views of the side canal. They are preciously decorated with original period furniture, authentic details and, in some cases, boast an exquisitely elegant, Oriental-inspired décor. The bathrooms, either Italian marble or mosaic-tiled, are provided with a comfortable shower or bath.

ORIENTAL BAR & BISTROT
With its retro soul and speakeasy savoir-faire, loved by musicians and artists, Metropole Hotel’s Oriental Bar & Bistrot is the perfect place to indulge in exquisite drinks prepared with art and elegance, and to taste traditional Venetian cuisine with an intriguing twist of aromas and spices. The décor is unique: 19th-century Thai armours, a site-specific art masterpiece signed by artist Joseph Kosuth, as well as soft, deep red velvet sofas.

THE CUISINE
The Oriental Bar & Bistrot’s cuisine has crafted a simple yet striking, remarkable menu. Our thyme and marjoram-grated scallops can’t be missed out on, just like our delicious nibbles inspired by both Venetian and Oriental cuisine, to be enjoyed with a glass of our finest bubbles. All our baked goods are homemade daily by our Chef.

ORIENTAL BAR GARDEN
An exotic garden with fragrant jasmines, palm and citrus trees. From April to October, Oriental Bar Garden is hosted in a charming outdoor space with a 16th-century puteal, a lovely Orangerie, white linen and a white gazebo. Peace and discretion, tucked away in a green oasis in the heart of Venice.
