THE HISTORY
On a sunny summer afternoon in 2010, three Costa Rican friends – Harry, Luis and Meni – were discussing their plans for the upcoming December family vacations. The consensus was a beach destination in Costa Rica.
While reviewing all options, the landscape became clear: there are very few small luxury hotels that are beachfront yet in or near a town that offers restaurants, entertainment and shopping.
Most beachfront Costa Rica hotels are located in large developments which do not have an authentic Costa Rica feel. Other smaller coastal hotels are not on the beach or are too remote and isolated to provide access to shops, meals and nightlife.
At that time, Harry owned a 1.5 Hectare beachfront property in up and coming Santa Teresa region, where celebrities were purchasing land and building luxury homes. This community of expats has developed an amazing culinary offering, and is gaining international reputation for its amazing surfing and yoga.
Meni and Luis, who together have over 40 years of experience in tourism and hotels, and are active in more than 7 companies in the industry, suggested building a small, upscale beachfront hotel on Harry’s property. This was the onset of the Nantipa Dream.
The hotel was to redefine the concept of Costa Rican Luxury, with sustainable design and practices, and using local talent in all phases of design. It would have to attract the discerning and experienced traveler who prefers the local, independent hotel over the established large luxury chains; within this frame of mind, the official plan for Nantipa was born, the rest is for you to come and experience!

NANKU SUITE
“Nanku” means “home” in Chorotega, which is what we aim to be for you! Our Nanku Suites are perfect for small families or groups. They offer a sleeping area with either one king bed or two queen beds, and a large living room space with two twin daybeds. A large bathroom and terrace or balcony complete the unit, making it the perfect home setting to relax after a long day of adventures.
NINTA GARDEN VIEW BUNGALOW
“Ninta” is the Chorotegan word for “beach”, and the inspiration behind our sleek units designed to make your beachfront experience as vivid as possible.
The Ninta Bungalow Garden View are made up of 80 square meters (800 square feet) of luxury space including an ample terrace, a private 3.5 x 3.5 meter (10 x 10 ft) plunge pool, hammock, king bed and double indoor/outdoor shower.
Our floor to ceiling glass doors open to poolside views, making Ninta ideal for a memorable honeymoon or just a romantic getaway surrounded by raw nature and the hypnotic sound of the ocean.
MANZU RESTAURANT
Manzú is our beachfront restaurant, designed to remind us of the palm thatched huts where the ancients Chorotegans used to live. It offers a relaxed ambiance set by the warm, salty breeze from the sea and the modern twist of an open kitchen.

The Ninta beachfront bungalows have the closest location to the ocean allowed by Costa Rican law.

BEACH CLEANUP
We all need a pick-me-up every now and then. Santa Teresa is mostly a pristine beach with very low density and fantastic vegetation. The beach cleanup experience helps our guests learn about the perils of microplastics in the ocean and how it affects marine life and eventually finds its way into our food chain.
We ask for 10 minutes of your beach time to walk around the sand, pick up small pieces of plastic brought ashore daily by the currents, and place it in our recycling bin.
After posting your experience in your social media, you will be rewarded with a refreshing smoothie or tropical fruit juice. Warning: This experience will probably change your lifestyle and approach to single-use plastics.
HORSEBACK RIDING

HIKE IN CURU
Curú is the first Wildlife Refuge established in Costa Rica, in the year 1983. This farm style refuge combines a sustainable use of land, so wildlife and humans can interact in the same space. The different ecosystems found in Curú, give this area a variety of species that are generally easy to spot along the trails.
Varied wildlife in the Reserve will allow the opportunity to possibly see hauler monkeys, white face monkeys, a wide variety of birds, agoutis and other animals. Perfect for those who enjoy bird watching and love nature.
HIKE IN CABO BLANCO
Part of the Tempisque Conservation Area, the Cabo Blanco Natural Reserve was created in 1963 by the Scandinavian couple, Olof Wessberg and Karen Morgenson. The first major project of conservation in Costa Rica, this reserve came into force to protect the area from the deforestation that took place around the Peninsula of Nicoya in the 1950’s.

TOUR TO TORTUGA ISLAND
The boat ride from shore to the Island will take about 45 minutes, ride along the coast enjoying the breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean and the Nicoya Península. CANOPY AT MONTEZUMA WATERFALLS
This zip lining consists of a series of 9 cables, 13 platforms that are suspended high above the forest floor. The tour allows the opportunity to see a number of plants and animals unique to the area, including possibly howler and white-faced monkeys, parrots, iguanas and much more.
The adventure includes a visit to the famous Montezuma waterfalls, where you will be able to enjoy the views or go for a swim in the pools carved by the cascading waters. Hanging Bridges Tour is available if you are not looking for much adrenaline.
MAL PAIS CANOPY TOUR
Surrounded by Cabo Blanco National Park, set in the quiet Village of Mal País, this Canopy tour is just 10-15 minutes away from Santa Teresa. The canopy Malpais has the best ocean views, diverse wildlife and over 200 trees lining the tropical forest.
