“Werk” means factory/plant in German, the term being taken over in the local language by the people of Hunedoara from the Austrians who had built the factory. For a century and a half, the local people worked at the Werk, lived near the Werk, were proud to be Werk employees and were, then, desperate that the Werk was closing…

The symbolism of the name chosen for the hotel evokes the continuity of the local glory, even if in the steel industry, it has set. The new Werk, the hotel, recalls at every step the recent history of Hunedoara, carrying it into the future through industrial architecture, minimalist furniture, and simple, unsophisticated ornaments.

THE HISTORY
During more than a century and a half, Hunedoara produced the steel with which large part of Romania’s infrastructure was built, whether we are talking about roads, bridges or buildings of all kinds. Steel industry – Hunedoara was then living its glory as a “socialist labor hero”. Nothing – except The Industry – seemed to matter for the strategists of those times.

Flanked by industrial buildings, between all kinds of thistles, Corvin Castle was thrown into oblivion. No one took care of promoting Hunedoara as a tourist destination. To be fair, the pollution related to the production of 3.5 million tons of rolled products per year was a serious impediment.

Starting in 2000, the industrial area of the city was filled with ruins and the surroundings of the Castle were no exception. The rescue would come from a local investor, a family of two Hunedoara born and raised people, who embraced capitalism since the early 1990, and, starting in 2017, they began the Werk Hotel Tourist Project. It is our pleasure to invite you to visit our hotel and see for yourself what can be achieved when money is combined with a sea of courage and a mountain of soul that inspires and energizes you!

Each of the 30 rooms, from Standard Twin to Deluxe, offers a set of see-through window panels with a spectacular view over Corvins’ Castle. The rooms also benefit from adaptable light system, to fulfill all your winding-down or waking-up routines.

DINING
At Werk, we pride ourselves with one of most beautiful restaurants in our country and beyond. We have prepared a generous selection of special dishes for you, to savor and enjoy in the delightful atmosphere of this modern, exclusive and absolutely out of the ordinary space with its unique view over Corvins’ Castle.

THE BREAKFAST
Breakfast is served within the Restaurant, in an area specially designed for buffet and serving. What do you say? You can serve the breakfast either inside or on the terrace and admire the Corvins’ Castle at the same time! Yes, it is possible only with us, at WERK Hotel & SPA. The service is buffet-style and offers guests fresh and quality dishes for all tastes.

The buffet menu at the Werk Hotel contains: cheese and charcuterie platter, fish, dairy products, egg dishes, hot snacks, various salads, fresh and preserved vegetables, traditional dishes, pastries, fruits and delicious desserts, along with soft drinks: coffee and tea

MASSAGE SALON
The word “massage” means to touch, to feel and comes from the Arabic word massa. By the means of the massage, we mean acting on the body with hands, fingers, elbows, knees, feet or with special equipment, pursuing several goals depending on the type of massage chosen.

Also, the massage can be performed in several forms, among which we mention the massage on a special table, massage on a chair or the client lying on a mattress or on the floor.

There are several types of massage, among which we mention the yumeiho massage which aims to correct the position of the bones, the kinetotherapy massage which aims at medical recovery, the aqua massage which has an effect on the muscles and the reflexotherapy massage which tries to access the areas reflexogenic, areas that have a direct connection with certain organs in the body.
