Hub Porteño is a concept hotel located in one of the most emblematic blocks of Recoleta. The original building structure is a French style house built in 1957 by the Palacios family, a well-known traditional Argentine family. Lalo Palacios bought part of the Duhau property in order to build the residence where he was going to live with his second wife: the famous singer, actress and showgirl Egle Martin.
She was known as the “intellectual showgirl” due to her well-known relationships with writers, artists and musicians. Among the famous names that used to visit the building, apart from Carlos Thays and the Duhau family, Astor Piazzolla, Vinicius de Morais, Maysa, Tom Jobim, Carlos Páez Vilaró, Ernesto Spabato, and Sha Reza Palev can be named.
In the 80s the building was acquired by the Orient Express, becoming that later became La Cabaña Restaurant. In the year 2010 Experiencia Urbana bought the property to transform and fully refurbish it in what is today known as Hub Porteño.
Using noble materials, looking at every detail, and promoting the work of loccal artists and artisans, the aim was to create a delicate space of high aesthetic in line with the magnificence of the Buenos Aires’ Belle Epoque.
The hotel focus on maintaining the building as traditional house. That is the reason why there is no signage nor a visible reception or numbers at guestroom doors. In April 2019 a new milestone, converted Hub Porteño into a Hotel & Club. Hub Porteño continues to build its reputation of a Hub of genuine moments connecting our guests with the exciting city life.
An Affinity Member’s Club enriches the guests’ journey: “Club Porteño/Provoqa” recreates the essence of the porteño identity and lifestyle, through innovative and original conversations and events . Yoga at Baires!
Luján, our House Manager, specialized in alternative therapies and Yoga instructor for more than 10 years, shares a 45 minute practice with the guests. If the day allows it so, the activity may be carried out at the Terrace. Otherwise, it may be enjoyed at the cosy atmosphere of our living room.
Mate O`Clock
Vanina, one of the House Concierges who was raised in the outskirts of Buenos Aires Province, will teach you the art and secrets of the mate traditions and its technique. Each participant will count with a mate of their own to practise. The infusion will be accompanied by the typical biscuits that characterised this Argentine tradition.
Meditation at the terrace
Our House Manager will also invite you to enjoy a moment from disconnection of the outside world and and to reconnect with your inner self with an ideal surrounding such as Hub’s terrace. Besides, you may also enjoy an infusion and comment your experiences after the practice.
Special Wines Tasting
It is not possible to leave Argentina without tasting a typical Malbec or Torrontes. Vanina, our local gastronomy expert and Thursday’s Friend, invites the guests to get involved in the world of Argentine wines and will guide you through a path of flavours and terroirs. The whole experience is accompanied by cheese and dry fruit from Patagonia.
Porteño Walking Tour
André, one of our House Concierge and city guide, invites you to enjoy a stroll through our neighbourhood, observing the architecture while telling historical anecdotes of the place.
The stroll will allow the guests to get to know more about the traditional Argentine families and about the most hidden spots that make Recoleta an unmistakably unique neighbourhood. Our House, scenery of fascinating stories, is not to be left aside, André will share with you interesting facts about it.
