At the sublime junction where the black volcanic sand of Perivolos Beach meets the midnight blue waters of the Aegean Sea, one finds Istoria, a 12-suite retreat, where a unique blend of classic and contemporary aesthetics animates a next-generation social hub, while embracing all the needs of modern and sophisticated travellers, for an experience that is wholly and authentically Greek.
As if sculpted from the hand of some chthonic deity and bathed in bright Cycladic sunshine, Istoria’s 12 idyllic suites are impressively arched towards the privacy of verdant terraces, crowned, in most cases, with private outdoor hot tubs or pools, offering an additional layer of refuge to this resplendent haven.
Despite an overwhelming dedication to tranquility and solace, Istoria features several spaces for guests to unwind. An impressively large pool, made with a spectacular green artisan tile work, ensconced within protective walls and bounded by loungers is enhanced by a statement sunken pool bar.
Elsewhere, the hotel’s main restaurant, serves modern Greek and Mediterranean cuisine created with fresh, seasonal ingredients and seafood garnered from the island and the Aegean Sea. Amenities are rounded up with the serene Elios Spa offering treatments that cure the body, soul and spirit.
Istoria deriving its name from the Greek word for story, ‘ιστορία’, feels like it’s always been there. The spaces in the hotel are intended to make guests feel as if they are living in an authentic Santorinian mansion, reminiscing the estate that once stood in its place.
The premises included 5 stables where the former owner used to keep her beloved horses. This long forgotten story became the spark of inspiration for a collection of different ideas and images, gathered from around the world in order to form a new residential experience.
The building elements of the original estate are incorporated in the interiors of the suites, creating a spectacular combination of original and contemporary features. Every corner is imbued with a sense of intimacy, relaxation, and most importantly, comfort, for a prevailing atmosphere that feels like a home from home.
This vision is brought to life by the Athens-based firm Interior Design Laboratorium, who have replicated the experience of a Santorini mansion via a fusion of traditional island architecture and a stripped-down contemporary aesthetic that pervades all areas.
STORIA SUITE
Storia means story (Istoria) in Italian. The Storia Suite is located on the hotel’s second floor and features a spacious bedroom with a king size bed, luxury linens, individually controlled reading lights, large windows, climate control, high-speed wireless Internet, a flat screen smart TV, telephone and a laptop-sized safe.
An airy living area with a comfortable sofa can accommodate an extra guest. The bathroom includes a luxurious shower, plush bathrobes, slippers, hairdryer and indigenous bath products. Lounge on the sunbeds of the 45 sq.m. terrace or relax in the outdoor hot tub and enjoy the spectacular sea view in full privacy. Breakfast in bed is available in all suites.
RAKONTO SUITE
Rakonto means story (Istoria) in Esperanto. The Rakonto Suite is located on the hotel’s second floor and features an airy bedroom with a king-size bed, luxury linens, individually-controlled reading lights, large windows, climate control, high-speed wireless Internet, flat screen smart TV, telephone and a laptop-sized safe.
A separate living area with a comfortable sofa can accommodate an extra guest. The bathroom includes a luxurious shower, plush bathrobes, slippers, hairdryer and indigenous bath products.

CONTE SUITE
Conte means story (Istoria) in Catalan. Located on the hotel’s first floor, Conte Suite features a king-size bed with luxury linens, individually controlled reading lights, big windows, climate control, high-speed wireless Internet, smart flat screen TV, telephone and a laptop-sized safe.
An airy living area with a comfortable sofa can accommodate an extra guest. The bathroom features a luxurious shower, plush bathrobes, slippers, hairdryers and indigenous bath products.
The spacious terrace is over 30 sq.m. and features an outdoor hot tub and sunbeds to relax and enjoy the spectacular sea view, whilst a second balcony with sitting area offers side sea view. Breakfast in bed is available in all suites.
TARINA SUITE
Tarina means story (Istoria) in Finnish. Tarina Suites are located on the hotel’s ground floor. Entering the suite, the first sight is an impressive hall with water elements inspired by the stables that were housed in the ground floor of the building.
Tarina Suites feature king-size beds with luxury linens, individually controlled reading lights, large windows, climate control, high-speed wireless Internet, a flat screen smart TV, telephone and a laptop-sized safe.
Tarina Suites also feature a sitting area with a comfortable sofa and armchair. The guest bathrooms include a luxurious shower, plush bathrobes, slippers, hairdryer and indigenous bath products.
