VINARIAT
The dedicated wine connoisseur and enthusiast, honoured with the award “Austria’s Sommelier of the year 2007” (Bertelsmann publishing house), manages our hotel’s wine collection. He always brings along the best wines from his frequent wine tours.

SKI AREAS
Plenty of fun on the pistes, pure winter magic: The SkiWorld Wilder Kaiser – Brixental includes 9 villages interlinked by 91 cable cars and lifts: Ellmau, Going, Scheffau, Söll, Brixen im Thale, Westendorf, Hopfgarten, Kelchsau and Itter. 284 km of pistes with perfectly groomed slopes promise great fun on the pistes, more than 77 cosy ski huts invite you to rest.

Easy family slopes, steep slopes for more ambitious skiers, deep snow & freeride slopes for adventurers, skicross, snow & fun parks for adrenaline junkies: The SkiWorld Wilder Kaiser – Brixental will leave nothing to be desired.

First-time skiers can practice on a dozen beginner lifts between Going and Ellmau, well-trained ski instructors will ensure your good start on the boards. For the youngest, children’s ski lessons with all-day care are offered. Tyrol’s largest night ski area in Söll featuring Austria’s longest night piste (10 km) promises fun on the slopes until late in the evening!

CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING
The gently rolling landscape of the Wilder Kaiser region is perfect for cross-country skiing. There are more than 70 kilometres of perfectly groomed cross-country ski trails for both beginners and advanced skiers on the sunny plains between the four villages of Going, Ellmau, Scheffau and Söll. Our shuttle will gladly take you from the hotel to the trail entry. An entry to the “Bichl trail” is located right in front of the hotel.

The choice of trails includes, for example, the “Ellmauer Kaiser trail”, alongside which runs a picturesque winter hiking path with spectacular views of the Kaiser mountain massif. The “Blattl trail” in Going, the “Sunnseit trail” in Söll and the “Sonnen trail” in Scheffau are also great for cross-country skiing beginners.

A special cross-country skiing attraction awaits you in Scheffau: The 1.2 km night trail is covered with artificial snow (in case there is not enough of the natural kind) and illuminated until 9.30 p.m.!

TOBOGGAN FUN
Its natural and well-maintained toboggan runs (partially with snowmaking) make the Wilder Kaiser region a popular destination for toboggan enthusiasts. Enjoy the curves on more than 12 kilometres of toboggan runs!

HIKING
The surroundings of the five star superior hotel Kaiserhof in Ellmau provides a large choice of hiking routes of all difficulty levels. More than 700 km of marked hiking paths take you safely across the mountain range of the Kitzbühel Alps, one of the most beautiful regions in Tyrol.

The Wilder Kaiser region and its sunny valleys, nestled between the hilly foothills of the Kitzbühel Alps and the gently rising slopes of the Wilder Kaiser, invite you to go on romantic winter hikes! You will find several entrances in the vicinity of our spa hotel Kaiserhof.

More than 125km of groomed hiking paths lead you through the natural landscape around Ellmau. Take a stroll across glittering snowfields, enjoy the fresh winter air and listen to the crunching sound of the snow under your feet!

Ellmau has 39 kilometres of winter hiking trails. One of our recommendation is the hike along the cross-country ski track and then up to the “Wochenbrunneralm” at 1,080 metres. As a reward, you can stop off at a cosy alpine hut and enjoy an exceptionally beautiful view of the valley.

The neighbouring municipality “Going” provides more than 33 kilometres of romantic winter tours through snowy forests and panoramic walks – up to the “Hollenauer Kreuz”, for example. You will not find any better close-up view of the Wilder Kaiser!

The “Blaikenrunde” walk from the church in Scheffau and along farmhouses is equally beautiful. There are more than 32 winter hiking kilometres in Scheffau. Try the climb to the Hintersteiner Lake, for example. A walk along the path around this natural jewel in winter rewards the visitor with glittering images of snow and ice.

Söll has more than 22 kilometres of winter hiking trails. The “Pirchmooser” route, for example, leads you along the “Sunnseit trail” and past the “Pirchmooser chapel”: A beautiful, sunny route with numerous opportunities to stop off at restaurants and inns.

NORDIC WALKING
This joint-friendly trend sport is a first-class health programme! The use of the sticks turns walking into an endurance sport that also trains the muscles of the upper body. Nordic Walking strengthens the entire musculoskeletal system, can help you lose weight and is very easy to learn.

GOLF HOLIDAY 
Perfect training, game and tournament opportunities – both for beginners and for professionals of all ages. 36 holes are located right in front of our hotel. Enjoy the game in front of the magnificent backdrop of the Wilder Kaiser!

The well-maintained 27-hole golf course Wilder Kaiser in Ellmau has become a first-class showpiece course of the Austrian golf scene. The course blends in harmoniously with the landscape and with the view of the Wilder Kaiser, the game becomes a fascinating experience. Tee times can be booked at the reception of our golf hotel.

The golf course consists of three different courses – each with 9 holes – that can be combined as you wish: the “Wilder Kaiser course”, the “Ellmau course” and the “Tyrol course”. None of the courses is steep.

The Wilder Kaiser region is part of the world’s largest e-bike region “Kitzbühel Alps and Kaiser mountains”. 310 electric bicycles, 80 charging stations and 43 rental stations are available. The electric bikes can be rented from partners in the Wilder Kaiser region. We are happy to help you organise your trip – just ask at the reception at our luxury hotel Kaiserhof.

Explore nine tourism regions (45 localities) on cycle paths far from main roads – from the holiday region Kufstein to the Wildschönau and the Hohe Salve, through Brixental valley, Kitzbühel and St. Johann in Tirol all the way to the Kaiserwinkl, the Wilder Kaiser and through the Pillerseetal valley.

ELLMI’S WORLD OF MAGIC
On the “Hartkaiser” in Ellmau, right above our five star superior hotel, Ellmi’s World of Magic takes you on a mystical journey in the footsteps of the sorcerer’s apprentice Ellmi, who has been turned into a big frog by goblins.

To set him free, his young followers get a treasure map and have to solve magical tasks on the serpentine paths of the magical world. It is important not to be distracted when the talking trees try to mislead you.

On the educational nature trails in Ellmi’s World of Magic, visitors will experience botany classes in nature, where medicinal plants grow right next to their descriptions and herbs have to be identified by their smell on the aroma path. Ellmi’s World of Magic invites you to learn about nature while playing and to explore it with all your senses.

HEXENWASSER SÖLL
The mountain adventure park “Hexenwasser” fascinates children and adults with gentle nature games and shows: Austria’s longest barefoot path leads through purling water and over grass, bark mulch and massaging stones, past the fire place and the “jumping water”.

There’s a lot to try out – like wading through knee-deep moors, sticking the head into the “humming stone” or making the stone harp ring, for example. Fabricate your witches’ brooms our coin or grind your lucky stone in the witches’ workshop: Every visitor can conjure up his personal memory! Altogether, there are 60 stations that address all your senses.

KAISERWORLD SCHEFFAU
In the KaiserWorld on the Brandstadl near Scheffau, located at 1,650 m above sea level, a cheerful “Game emperor” invites children in his castle and kingdom, where they can play, clamber and romp around as they like.

An athlete’s parcours is at the centre of the KaiserWorld. Also a hike through the enchanted forest and the views from the tree huts pay off. Or, challenge your creativity in the imperial handicrafts workshop.

HOHE SALVE
A magnificent view of the Wilder Kaiser can be enjoyed from the top of the Hohe Salve, one of the most beautiful panorama mountains in Tyrol, at 1,829 metres above Söll.

The “Sonnenuhrenweg” (Sundial path) that circles the summit leads the visitors through 15 stops, providing them with both exciting and entertaining information on the history of timekeeping.

The sound of the wind harp on the Hohe Salve is an invitation to all hikers to have a rest and listen to it. Also to be found on the summit is the “Salvenkirchlein” (Salven chapel), the highest pilgrimage church in Austria. A visit fits in beautifully with a hike in the Wilder Kaiser region.

LAKE FILZALM HOCHBRIXEN
Located at 1,300 metres above sea level, Lake Filzalm is a real jewel of the Kitzbühel Alps. Here, the senses are stimulated naturally and sharpened for adventures in the mountains.

Visitors can experience the moor biotope in different ways – directly by traversing the “wading pond” and the “moor pool”, or indirectly by studying the informative display cases. Walk along the panorama paths around the lake and refresh yourself from head to toe with foot reflexology massages and Kneipp arm baths.

ALPINOLINO WESTENDORF
Alpinolino, the Alpine discovery park at the Talkaser near Westendorf in the Brixental, combines nature studies lessons with firsthand experiences in an original way.

Compete with squirrels and rabbits in the long jump or pass the “marmot rally”, try the touch box, the scent organ or the tree telephone. The Alpinolino mountain guide “Schlauberger” turns the whole family into nature detectives.

SWIMMING LAKE GOING
The swimming lake Going, located on the edge of the forest with a view of the Wilder Kaiser, was elected the most beautiful natural bathing lake in Tyrol. By the flat, white beach, the water warms up to pleasant 24 degrees. The bath has a separate non-swimmers bay and two water slides that guarantee great bathing fun.

The little ones can play and romp around in the “pirate ship”, while the adults take a sunbath on the 50,000 m² sunbathing lawn. The bath also includes the “JoeRassics Beacharena”, the largest beach volleyball facility in western Austria.

KAISERBAD ELLMAU
Should you wish even more bathing fun than is offered in the spa hotel Kaiserhof, we recommend you to visit the Kaiserbad Ellmau! Children have fun in the children’s adventure pool, adults enjoy moments of relaxation in the large thermal area.

HINTERSTEINER LAKE
The enchanting mountain lake, 56 ha in size and up to 36 metres deep, is one of the most beautiful and cleanest natural bathing lakes in Tyrol. Hintersteiner Lake is located at 883 m above sea level right above Scheffau, in the midst of the Wilder Kaiser nature reserve.

Our recommendation: Hike around the lake and enjoy the magnificent views of the turquoise water. On the south bank, the path goes up a little. The north shore is accessible to everyone thanks to a driveway. There is also a beach at the north bank whose appeal lies in its
