THE HISTORY
The La Maiena Meran Rresort in Marling near Meran has been run by Franz Waldner from 1964 as a restaurant, wine bar and nightclub. Back then it was a hip meeting place in the village and a pub for all ages after work. In 1977 the La Maiena Meran Resort was expanded and run as a hotel from then on.

Under the management of Marlene and Hans Waldner and their children Elisabeth and Mathias the hotel was constantly extended, renovated and converted. Today the hotel near Meran charms its guests with first-class wellness and perfect interior design.

The Waldner host family takes care of its hotel with a great love of detail and ensures that guests are satisfied and blissfully happy. Hospitality and loyalty are genuine values that the family has been living by for generations. It is therefore not surprising that Marlene Waldner’s brother Heinrich also runs his own hotel in Passeiertal Valley, the Quellenhof.

From our hotel in Marling you have a unique stunning panoramic view over the city of Meran. This fact is how our La Maiena Meran Resort got its name, as Meran also had various different names in the past, for example “Maiense”, “Maia” and “Mais”. The hotel name “La Maiena” then resulted from these names.

PENTHOUSE SUITE LODGE SPA
There is just one of this penthouse suite. It is approx. 45 m2 in size and one of our most exclusive suites. The suite features a bedroom/living area as well as an additional, separate relaxation lounge with a day bed, which is separated from the bedroom/living area with a sliding door. The third and fourth guest can therefore sleep on the day bed.

Both rooms have access to the bathroom, which features a monsoon shower, a separate toilet and bidet. The absolute highlights of this suite are the heated outdoor whirlpool and the outdoor panoramic Finnish sauna (90° C) on the 25 m2 loggia. Guests can enjoy the wonderful panoramic vistas of the spa town of Merano and environs.

SUITE MERAN LODGE LOVE
This approx. 57 m2 suite is situated on the first and second floor of the La Maiena Meran Lodge. It directly overlooks the outdoor pool and features a large, sun-drenched east/south-east-facing loggia. Its glass-panelled front makes it very light and provides spectacular views of Merano and environs.

The suite features a bedroom/living area as well as an additional, separate relaxation lounge with a day bed, which is separated from the bedroom/living area with a sliding door. The third and fourth guest can therefore sleep on the day bed.

Both rooms have access to the bathroom, which features a monsoon shower, a bath tub and a separate toilet and bidet. The absolute highlight of the suite is the Physiotherm infrared sauna, perfect for a pleasant sweat all year round!

POOL SUITE RESIDENCE
The approx. 60 m2 pool suite is situated on the parterre of the La Maiena Residence. It boasts an amazing balcony with views of the pool and garden. The bedroom features a cosy seating area and direct access to the balcony. The bathroom boasts a spacious shower and toilet.

SUITE GIARDINO DELUXE
These three suites are perfect for families. They are 60 m2 in size and consist of a separate living area and bedroom for parents and children. They are on the top floor of the main building and boast enough room for your perfect family holiday.

The separate bathroom features a bath tub, shower and a large wash basin. From the balconies, guests can enjoy the fascinating views of the surrounding mountains and greenery.

COMFORT DOUBLE ROOM GIARDINO
With its west-facing balcony, this room is drenched in wonderful afternoon sunshine and boasts beautiful views of Marling’s orchards. The 30 m2 room features sisal carpet, a desk, box spring bed to promote a healthy night’s sleep, partially open bathroom with shower and large wash basin with a separate toilet and bidet.

Our hotel is situated in Marling, an idyllic village with 2,500 inhabitants really close to Meran. The activities that are most popular with guests at our hotel in Marling include hiking and cycling in the spring, summer and autumn.

The surrounding mountains of Meran, the Hirzer hiking area, the Vigiljoch mountain recreational area and the countless Waalweg provide unique holiday adventures. The Marling Waalweg is the longest in the whole of South Tyrol with 12 km.

The Waalweg that is close to our hotel in Marling was created as far back as 250 years ago – back then the Carthusian monks from Schnalstal Valley had the idea of obtaining the necessary water for their orchards via a ‘Waal’. From the Marling Waalweg you have a stunning view over the spa town of Meran; You can see as far as the Passeiertal and over the Texelgruppe mountains.

You also should not miss out on the castles and fortresses that are situated close to our hotel on your holiday in Marling! Schloss Lebenberg is just above Marling not far from our hotel, and is one of the largest fully furnished castles in South Tyrol.

A medieval collection of weapons is exhibited in the uninhabited part of the castle every year from March to October. Reinhold Messner’s private Castel Schloss Juval which houses a permanent exhibition on alpinism and the world’s mountains is under half an hour away from your hotel.

SPORT

WINTER FUNPARK
At Merano 2000 kids will have the winter fun park at their disposal: here they can enjoy the mini ski club with a playroom for your little ones, and attend ski courses, new-school courses, snowboard courses, or even private lessons.
