The Hameau Albert 1er, 5-star, Relais & Chateau, proposes a luxurious getaway of tranquillity in the very heart of Chamonix. At the head of this charming hotel since 1903, the Carrier family welcomes you to this prestigious haven, an incarnation of the art de vivre at the mountain.

Luxury hotel rooms with character; family suites; cosy, independent chalets; indoor/outdoor swimming pool and spa, facing Mont-Blanc; gastronomic Michelin* restaurant; traditional restaurant and seminar rooms promise a fabulous stay in the world capital of mountaineering.

Since 1903, the history of this 5-star hotel, Le Hameau Albert 1er, and the affirmation of its mountain identity have been the foundations for its serene and stylish hotel rooms, where you can peacefully contemplate the Mont Blanc panorama.

The chic hotel rooms in the main Albert 1er building and La Ferme, the Martine and Blaitière suites and the Soli and Grépon chalets propose six intimate areas…peaceful havens in which to relax under the watchful eye of the Mont-Blanc.

Getting inspired by the past and uniting it with the future might as well be the Hameau Albert 1er’s motto. For more than one hundred years, the Carrier family has been overseeing the destiny of the formerly named ‘Railway Guesthouse’ (Pension du Chemin de Fer) and they rely strongly on its history to build its future.

The now, 5-star Hameau Albert 1er hotel has been tastefully refurbished with an emphasis on aesthetics and premium comfort. Today, the Hameau Albert 1er, made up of chalets and a historical main building, resembles a small hamlet, nestled in a rustic garden, with a rivulet flowing between the fruit trees.

All that is left to do is to choose the ambience of your room: contemporary or alpine tradition, pure white tones or the intimacy of old timber. From the comfort of your bed, everything around you tells a different story.

Two luxury suites
The hotel Hameau Albert 1er proposes two luxurious and spacious suites that look out upon the mountains, offering a spectacular view of the Mont Blanc range.

For a privileged stay with family or friends, these suites have an audacious style, combining the authenticity of wood and materials with a modern decor. Equipped with a fireplace and Jacuzzi bath, these comfortable spaces will enchant your nights at the foot of Mont Blanc.

A real gem, the 90m² Blaitière suite offers an independent space designed to provide optimum comfort to its guests. This unashamedly contemporary cocoon fuses wonderful mountain design with cosy atmosphere. Here, modern technology is seamlessly matched with wood and stone finishes.

The superb 150m² duplex Suite Martine apartment proposes a large lounge that opens onto a balcony, facing Mont Blanc, an intimate and precious space… The second floor, nestled under the roof, reveals the splendour of wooden beams, a treasure chest that promises an unforgettable experience.

2 independent chalets
For a relaxing stay, the Hameau Albert 1er proposes 2 independent chalets, privileged lodgings for family stays or with friends. Each chalet has a unique ambience: the immaculate, pure white tones of the Chalet Grépon and the intimate, old timber of the Chalet Soli.

Chalet Grepon
Stepping inside the Chalet Grépon, is like falling into a white paradise, promising a cosy night where sweet dreams are made.

This chalet proposes a 45m² double room, warmed by the flames of a wood burner, a Jacuzzi bath in which to relax, direct access to the garden and a terrace with a panoramic view of the Aiguilles de Chamonix

Rooms inspired by artwork
This original building, constructed in 1903 by Joseph and Lydie Carrier, was a simple, family-run guesthouse, open only in the summer months. The original chimney and solid granite window frames remain today, bearing witness to various changes and modernisations carried out over generations.

In this historic building, there are 21 hotel rooms, with contemporary ambience, presenting Savoyard tradition. Carefully selected colours, materials, decorative objects, molten glass and rugs that are unique to each room.

While you might find the subtle grey, mauve and taupe tones of the Aiguille Rouges in one room, you may find the clear blue high mountain sky or the mineral grey of the sides of the Dru in another.

The spacious and luxury rooms propose a contemporary décor whilst retaining a strong sense of ‘high mountain’ identity. The charm of local heritage is expressed through the exhibition of a piece of folk art furniture as well as an illustration chosen in accordance.

Some rooms boast a fireplace and jet bath to promise a comfortable stay. Other smaller yet comfortable rooms propose a traditional mountain hotel décor with a touch of modernity, allowing guests to travel through time.

Luxury room without fireplace
These luxury rooms propose sleek white walls that contrast with stained, dark woodwork. Each room proposes a slightly different colour tone, designated by its mountain artwork. Rooms are equipped with a spacious and light bathroom with jet bath and walk-in shower.

Rooms at La Ferme
In 1998, we constructed our farmhouse, ‘La Ferme’ from wood teemed with history, reclaimed from old chalets across the Alps. We dared to try something new: a combination of architectural alpine tradition, modernity and design.

At La Ferme, the omnipresence of wood from old, mountain chalets proposes the rediscovery of Savoyard heritage, without overlooking luxury. The imposing exterior facade honours the architecture of old farmhouses in our alpine valleys.

Inside, the presence of mottled, Savoyard furniture here and there, as well as vintage engravings complement the salon furniture of contemporary designers such as Lecorbusier and Gaetano Pesce.

As an ensemble, they create a warm, luxurious place, where you can lounge by the fire in the evenings. Whether it is from the garden terrace or balcony, the rooms all offer an exceptional panorama of Mont Blanc, the Aiguilles de Chamonix and the Brevent. La Ferme truly is a peaceful haven in which to unwind.

Restaurant ‘Albert 1er’
Head chef, Damien Leveau, possesses the subtle art of innovation and reinvention in accordance with seasonal and market produce.

Preserving the flavour of the product whilst respecting its texture, combining ingredients with delicacy without over-embellishing them… these are the daily objectives of our chef, Damien Leveau. This one-star Michelin restaurant, awarded since 1999, offers the experience of an exceptional moment.

On the menu of the restaurant Albert 1er according to the seasons: Hare à la Royale, Risotto with Alba truffle, Dublin Bay prawn in carpaccio with Osciètre caviar, line caught sea bass roasted, Soufflé with yellow Chartreuse, Crêpe Suzette … The wine list offers a selection of more than 1000 references.

The opening of a wall reveals a façade of greenery. A luminous world nestled in a kingdom of stone. The scents of alpine flowers, the flicker of water through the rocks…a secret nature awakens in the crystal clean air.

With its white blanketed rock faces and crystals, the rare and desirable world above us is worthy of each and every ascent. The goal is not so much to reach the summit as it is to feel the sensations of living in the here and now. A universe where every moment reclaims its rightful place, thus enriching our present.

Haute cuisine and the high mountains share many experiences. For each, time and sensations merge together, with determination and unity being the essential ingredients of their success. So, it’s now time to take a seat and celebrate this tantalizing meeting with the mystical world above.

Wine and food pairings
The wine cellar of our gourmet restaurant is also a reflection of the Carrier family’s passion which spans several decades, with its 19,000 bottles and over 1,000 references, 640 of which are listed on the menu.

It is head sommelier, Marc Henri Mialon who holds the key to the knowledge of this heritage. He will sensitively guide you between exceptional Grands Crus and delightful new discoveries.

Wine tasting lunches
Marc-Henri Mialon, head sommelier of our Albert 1er gastronomic restaurant will be delighted to share with you his passion for wine. He proposes a monthly meeting of one or several wine makers, in which they share their know-how and allow you to discover their best wines through a tasting.

The morning wine tasting session is followed by a gourmet lunch in the Albert 1er restaurant with the elaboration of a special menu in accordance with the winemaker’s wines, who will have the pleasure of your company at the table.

La Maison Carrier restaurant
A meticulous, mountain style setting that emphasises on popular mountain cuisine, a dynamic menu proposing fresh products, a carousel of desserts in the centre of the restaurant, and favourite house wines; such is the promise of La Maison Carrier Restaurant.

The impressive profile of an old farmhouse on the edge of the gardens facing the Mont Blanc invites you to discover an old wood interior. The menu card invites you to sit down to know more. As for the cakes and pastries on the antique furniture in the center of the restaurant, how not to succumb!

Taste a local cuisine
Seated on small, alpine chairs, under the old wooden panelling of this Savoyard farm, you will discover our traditional restaurant’s cuisine, served on gingham tablecloths.

Going back in time to unearth the historical dishes of La Maison Carrier, it is taking part for the time of a meal with the story of the Carrier family who has been at the head since 1903.

Listening to the suggestions proposed by the Chef Cédric Nogueira is to create a bridge between the present and the past. The dishes which would, long ago, simmer on stoves by Clothilde Carrier or Marcel Carrier have inspired the creative menu card.

The Hameau’s traditional restaurant pays tribute to local producers of the Alpine territory. Heren veal, cheese and fish from alpine lakes are well matched with garden salads, aromatic herbs, local vegetables and edible flowers.

Rediscover the cuisine of the past
A delicious cuisine that certainly triggers your memory as you relive the emotion of the exquisite flavours of Alpine cuisine from the past.

This expression of appreciation to our ancestors’ cuisine culminates in an impressive dessert carousel and a gourmet coffee that is the perfect accompaniment to the homemade chocolates and biscuits.
