Le Mirage Resort & Spa is a unique establishments in the Sossusvlei area. It is situated 21 km from the Sesriem gate to Sossusvlei. This makes it one of the lodges closest to the Sossusvlei and the ideal place to stay when you want to visit the highest dunes in the world!
Le Mirage resort and spa offers very spacious rooms with large beds, a minibar and coffee and tea facilities. The thick rock walls of the building will keep your room nice and cold and protect you from the harsh desert outside.
Tower Rooms: Sleeping under the stars
At the Oasis building, there are two open-air rooms on top of the towers. With the dry and clean air above the Namib Desert, you will see an incredible amount of stars. Watch the Milky Way while falling asleep!
The rooms are an add-on and can not be booked separately. Although rain is very rare, you will always have your main room as a back-up. The rooms have an open-air toilet and shower. As an add-on, you can also use the facilities in your main room.
Oasis ‘Castle’
The Oasis Rooms are located at the large ‘castle’ building with the oasis inside. The pool and spa are also located at the Oasis building. The open bathrooms have a walk-in shower and double sink.
The thick rock walls will keep your rooms nice and cold and protect you from the harsh desert outside. The private balconies are great for watching the sun-downers or just a coffee break.
Camelthorn Building
The building is named after the Camelthorn tree next to the building. It is the center building, where also the reception is located. The open bathrooms have a walk-in shower and a double sink. The toilet is separated from the bathroom.
Restaurant
The elegant restaurant serves international cuisine and wines. On most evenings, a 5-course dinner is served.
Dinner
Each dinner, there is a special selected menu, with two different options for the main course. If you are a vegetarian, please notify us in advance. We will then prepare a seperate menu for you. On occasions, the 5-course dinner is replaced by a rich buffet.
Lunch
Daily we serve a light ‘A la cart’ menu for lunch.
Breakfast
Breakfast is served as a buffet, and warm dishes can be ordered from the Kitchen like eggs.
Privacy and a magnificent view
Our Mystique Spa offers its guests the opportunity to reinvigorate themselves in stress-relieving or rejuvenating massages in our Spa. We have a variety of massage rooms, an Ancient massage area, and a Jacuzzi.

Dune Sand Scrub Massage
Experience the Namib Desert Dune Sand, by having your body rubbed with our homemade dune sand scrap. The scrap will energize your body and leave your skin feeling soft and healthy. Complete this treatment by relaxing in a warm aroma bath to experience the full effects of the procedure.
Hydrotherapy
Salt – the word for healing and one of the oldest remedies. Let the water and salt, at body temperature cleanse you, removing toxins and waste products from your body. This will leave you feeling balanced and revitalized.
Sossusvlei / Sesriem
At only 21km from Le Mirage Desert Lodge and Spa, you will find one of the main attractions of Namibia: Sossusvlei!
The entrance to Sossusvlei is in Sesriem, from the gate a 60km tarred road takes you in the National Park, along the way you will see some of the worlds highest dunes, even some petrified dunes, and the Sesriem Canyon. Drive on your own, or join a guided drive from the Lodge.
Dune 45
Only a few kilometers before the end of the road you will find Dune 45, one of the more accessible dunes in Sossuvlei.You are free to climb this dune, it is not an easy task, but the view from the top will make it worth your while. Don’t forget to wear closed shoes and take enough water before to commence this journey!
4 x 4 Part
Once you’ve arrived at the end of the tarred road, you can only continue with a good 4×4 car or use one of the shuttles available! If you feel adventures enough the 5km 4×4 route is real fun to drive yourself. Follow the tracks of the other cars, and this will take you to the Dead Vlei Parking.
From there you must walk about 1,1km over the dunes to reach Dead Vlei, again, take enough water and try to do this early morning or late afternoon as temperatures can reach some very high peaks around midday.
Dead Vlei
The Dead Vlei is probably one of the most magical places in the world. This pan used the be a lake that dried out hundreds of years ago.
Sesriem Canyon
The Tsauchab river carves the canyon in the local sedimentary rock. It is about a kilometer (0.6 miles) long and up to 30 meters (100 feet) deep. The canyon is located close to the Sesriem gate. This makes it a nice extra to visit after coming back from the Sossus trip.
Hot air ballooning over the Namib or Sossus Desert
One of the most wonderful experiences in the world is drifting in a hot air balloon over the majestic dunes of the Namib desert.
This adventure begins early in the morning, before sunrise, you are collected from Le Mirage and driven to the take-off area. Once the balloon is airborne, you drift silently over the dunes for about an hour.
The views of the Namib Desert are exceptional. On landing (wherever the wind has taken you) there is a champagne breakfast. After the champagne breakfast, you will be brought back to the lodge.

Adventurous Quad-Bike tour
Go on an Adventurous Quad-Bike tour and experience the amazing nature that surrounds this lodge. Take a drive on one of our Quad-Bikes following the trails in the desert with a guide and experience the breathtaking nature and surroundings of Le Mirage.
The trails will take you to some unique spots, and our guide will inform you of the hidden secrets of the desert like the fairy circles. Your afternoon quad-bike tour will end with a striking sun-downer overlooking the Namib Desert.
You will drive by yourself, accompanied by our guide. The tour is easily accessible, so you don’t have to be an experienced driver. A Quad-Bike tour takes about 2 hours.
