His philosophy: my culinary art is steeped in my love for the elements of nature. I let myself be inspired by their incredible variety, enriching the Mediterranean style with the ingredients of classic cuisine.

For me it is important to stress a seasonal cuisine, suited to the time of year, and to combine it with the essential products of the region, the spices and flavours of the Alpine world.

So my passion gives pride of place to Alpine herbs and forgotten roots, that give dishes a refined note while at the same time enhancing their digestibility. Interior equilibrium and wellbeing depend to a large extent on a healthy diet. Product quality and fresh preparation are together an essential ingredient.

THE STUBEN
In the restaurant’s six “Stuben”, each one different from the others, you can find the taste for beauty. From the elegant Grauvogelstube to the bright summer garden in rural style, to the rustic Schwemmbergerstube, they all give off a unique and particular note.

But they all have one thing in common: the courteous hospitality of the staff and the extraordinary charm that surrounds each guest.

DISCOVERING THE GARDEN
For our chef Karl Volgger potatoes are not all the same. 170 types grow in his garden! He is passionate about herbs and edible roots that have been forgotten nowadays and with which, as though by magic, he creates tasty dishes that are easy to digest.

Once a week Karl Volgger shows interested guests round the Hotel Majestic herb garden, explaining the care and cultivation of carrots or stachys and revealing some secrets for the preparation of his Mediterranean menu which always features the ingredients of classic cuisine.

Karl Volgger’s talent in the kitchen is filled with love for the elements of nature. And anyone who has walked at least once in his herb garden can see and taste this in every one of our hotel’s specialities.

PLAN DE CORONES SKI DISTRICT
The Plan de Corones is simply THE ski district par excellence in South Tyrol, lying at an altitude of 2275 metres and directly accessible from Riscone, Valdaora and San Vigilio di Marebbe. Brunico and San Lorenzo are just nearby. 85 km of ski slopes and 32 modern lift systems guarantee a wide choice of routes and pure enjoyment on skis without worries.

Plan de Corones is an ideal mountain for every type of winter activity, a real paradise for downhill skiers, snowboarders and cross-country skiers. There is a constant commitment to keep the ski district always in the forefront as regards technology, with comfortable, modern and fast lift systems.

Of course, one of the most memorable experiences is getting up early in the morning and arriving first on the slopes. Although it is difficult to leave your warm bed, once you get on the mountain you will be fully rewarded: the fresh air, the impressive all-round panorama and, of course, the well tended and completely deserted slopes!

The impressive black slope of Plan de Corones, known as the “Piculin”, is 2000 metres long with a difference in height of about 500 metres. The area around Plan de Corones is also the ideal place for ski touring and excursions with snowshoes.

SKISAFARI
A ski safari in South Tyrol is the surest way of seeing and enjoying new winter landscapes and breathtaking panoramic views. Twice a week we explore a new spot, a new ski district in the Dolomites, with ever new challenges on skis and absolutely incomparable panoramic settings.

You will be accompanied by our guide Sebastian who will choose the most suitable itineraries and make sure that everyone reaches the destination in absolute safety.

The transfer to the impressive ski areas to the south of the main crest of the Alps is guaranteed by our ski shuttle service (maximum capacity 8 persons); groups are composed of a maximum of 15 persons. CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING
Rhythmically glide your way over the powdery snow while taking in the picturesque winter landscape and romantic beauty of mother nature. With its majestically steep mountain backdrop dominating the horizon, glittering white pine trees along the trails, snow-covered hills and attractive valleys your breath will be taken away.

Cross-country ski and downhill ski tours have been making a phenomenal comeback over the last few years. Retro winter sports have something nostalgic about them, which is what makes them so attractive. Far away from all the hectic and crowds, you can enjoy the serenity of the untouched winter landscape and find your inner peace.

Cross-country and downhill skiing also make for the perfect full-body workout. You will improve your flexibility and endurance as well as toning your muscles. Due to the complexity of the different techniques and styles, up to 95% of the body’s muscles are used – more than in any other type of sport.

With its beauty and well-maintained trails and slopes, the area around Kronplatz is absolutely worth going to for a long ski tour. In the Dolomites, if you like action and adventure, you’ve come to the right place. Go skiing down impressive mountain slopes, hike up to the mountain peak, race downhill on deep snow and marvel at the beautiful panoramic views.

The Puster Valley is a paradise for cross-country skiers. The well-prepared trails will take you hundreds of kilometres through the magnificent landscape.

In the Valley of Prags on the Toblacher Sattel or in the charming Fischlein Valley in Sexten, there is a perfect trail for every skier of every level. For winter athletes looking for a challenge, we recommend the 60 km long ski marathon trail in the Puster Valley.

NOCTURNAL SLEDGING
On Plan de Corones, the number 1 ski district in South Tyrol, the fun is not limited to skiers: sledging, cross-country skiing, ice skating, trekking with snowshoes… for your winter enjoyment, on excellent trails.

And of course, you must not miss a trip to the countless mountain huts on Plan de Corones and in the surrounding areas. During the day you can taste the substantial South Tyrol specialities, relax and daydream on a sunny terrace or sip some warm mulled wine.

The breathtaking panoramic view and the cordiality of the management are included! Lastly, to add the finishing touch to an intense day on skis, beginners and experts can meet up for the Après Ski in the Plan de Corones valley station.

Do you fancy going sledging? Maybe combine it with a romantic winter walk? Both by day or, very romantically, when the moon shines high in the sky, numerous excellent sledge runs await you in the Plan de Corones area. The “KORER” and “CIANROSS” sledge runs are connected to the Plan de Corones lift systems.

The starting points of both runs are reached with the Korer or Cianross cable car and access is allowed with a valid Plan de Corones ski pass. Nor should we forge the “HAIDENBERG” sledge run, famous well beyond the boundaries of the region, much loved by young and not so young; it can be reached on foot from our hotel in about 60 minutes.

In the Plan de Corones area you will find many other sledge runs in the heart of nature, to offer you moments of real fun on the sledge in the enchanted landscape of the Val Pusteria.
