The Marktgasse Hotel is situated in the most central location, the old town, of Zurich. Surrounded by all the sights, stores and a variety of restaurants, cafés and bars, the Marktgasse Hotel is the best starting point for any kind of excursion or activity.
Directly next to the hotel is the tram stop “Rathaus”, so you don’t have to walk any distance. The Marktgasse Hotel is the only hotel in Zurich that stands out with its history. It is one of the oldest inns in the city of Zurich.
The building was first mentioned in writing in 1291 and is now a listed building. The Marktgasse Hotel is a member of the Swiss Historic Hotels, as well as the Historic Hotels of Europe. It has 39 individually designed rooms, two seminar rooms, two restaurants and a bar.
From check-in until your check-out you will be fully accompanied at all times according to your wishes. ROOMS & SUITES
Each of our 39 rooms is unique. Individually furnished with high-quality designer pieces, they all feature different advantages and floor plans – from small and cosy single rooms up to the spacious Marktgasse Suite. Some rooms contain heritage-protected details such as stucco, wall panelling, tiled stoves or columns.
All our rooms have oak parquet or hard floors and no carpeting. Due to the history of the 15th Century building, one of the first inns in Zurich, some floors are slightly slanted and the ceilings in three rooms on the 4th floor are somewhat lower.
Being a building under protection, the supervisory of monuments and arts wouldn’t allow for the floors to be leveled out. The premium Schramm mattresses ensure a restful night’s sleep. Many of our bathrooms are equipped with a rain shower or bathtub.
For daily care needs, we offer exclusive hair and body products. Your room will be ready by 3 pm on the day of arrival. We kindly ask you to leave your room by latest 12 noon on the day of departure.

IGNIV BAR
The IGNIV Bar at the Marktgasse Hotel is the only bar among Andreas Caminada’s restaurant locations to date. The Zurich IGNIV Bar stands out with its stunning cocktail creations and offers different bar snacks, such as beef tartare with potato foam and truffle, spare ribs with cucumber salad, Asian buns and more.
Thanks to their tremendous enthusiasm and commitment head bartender Philipp Kössl and the IGNIV bar team were named the best cocktail bar in the category of new openings in Falstaff 2021, and also ranked in Gault Millau’s “hot” ten and received the “Best Newcomer Bar” award from Swiss Bar Awards.
On top of that, bartender Sarah Madritsch was awarded “Bartender of the year 2022” by the Swiss Bar Awards. Enjoy stunning cocktails – creations and excellent bar snacks! Champagne is simply something wonderful – which is what we celebrate at the IGNIV Zurich. It’s fresh, lively, inspires daydreaming and always guarantees a good mood.
We drink champagne at any given festive opportunity, when bidding farewell, at a long overdue reunion or simply because sometimes we need to treat ourselves. It’s not called the wine of joy for nothing! Our sommelier would always choose a bottle of champagne over a white or red wine, and it also goes wonderfully paired with the Sharing Experience.

DELISH – LA PINSERIA
With the delish – la pinseria, the Marktgasse Hotel in Zurich Niederdorf has been presenting a novel culinary concept in the rooms of the former delish since 13 May 2020.
