Masseria San Domenico offers boutique-style intimacy bound with first class facilities such as a magnificent outdoor free-form swimming pool. After a careful restoration, completed respecting the old shapes and the original building materials, the tower was converted into a 5 star deluxe resort in 1996.

The building itself dates back to the 15th century, when it was used by the Knights of Malta as a watch-tower. An impressive free-form seawater pool flows its way through the lush gardens and the 2 exclusive beaches (one sandy one rocky) allows guests to soak up some sun without the crowds.

The Spa and Thalassotherapy centre makes use of the rich seawater and seaweed, the two essential elements of thalassotherapy, found in the nearby Adriatic Sea, just 500 metres away. Four beautiful bedrooms “pied dans l’eau” where you will be lulled by the lapping of waves on the rocks.

THE HISTORY OF MASSERIA
In the Puglia region, the “masserie” were large agricultural centers for farming the land and preserving farm produces. Several buildings were used for the working of farm produce. One building was the house for the “massaro’s” workers and was -occasionally- used by the owners as their residence.

The historical main building of the Masseria San Domenico dates back to the XIV century and was used by the Knights of Malta, whose main center in Puglia was S. Stefano, as a watch tower against Saracens’ attacks.

The Masseria San Domenico encompasses this historic main building with its ancient slits and chimneys whose architectural structures developed around the beginning of the XX century following the needs of the agricultural activities.

Surrounded by 60 hectares of ancient olive trees and orchards, and keeping intact the original architectural structure, the Masseria San Domenico has been restored and converted into a refined hotel. The Masseria San Domenico has been in activity since 1996.

ROOMS & SUITES
We have 40 fully non-smoking rooms and suites. All rooms are equipped with air conditioned, satellite Tv and pay per view TV, free wi-fi connection, safe, mini bar and hairdryer.

We have available goose feather, latex pillows and orthopaedic pillows. The bed is king size (190x200cm or 190x220cm in some room categories) but we can provide 2 separate beds on request.

SAN DOMENICO SUITE
The San Domenico Suite is our most exclusive suite (130mtq), in a prime location and with a huge terrace (70sqm) offering a breath-taking view over our swimming pool and the sea on the far distance.

With 2 double bedrooms and a separate living room featuring a beautiful fireplace and kitchenette area, this suite is ideal for families or for friends but also for romantic getaways. It is elegantly furnished and equipped with all modern comforts.

GARDEN SUITE
Each of our Garden suites (60 sqm) is furnished in a unique and authentic style. They are located on the ground floor with a spacious private garden and boast a large bedroom, a separate living room that can be turned into a second single bedroom, one or two bathrooms featuring a bathtub and a shower.

MASSERIA SUITES
The Masseria Suites (55sqm) are located in the ancient building, on the ground or first floor and each one is furnished in a unique and authentic style. They have a spacious bedroom, a separate living area, one or two bathrooms with bath and shower and an outdoor space.

RESTAURANTS
Our luxury hotel restaurants in Puglia boast lovely settings and allow you to go through an unforgettable experience. You can choose to spend your convivial moments in an elegant eighteenth-century dining room, by the poolside or by the sea.

This suggestive dining room with arched vaults dates back to the XVIII century. Keeping with its original purpose of oil press, Masseria San Domenico’s restaurant offers specialties from the typical cuisine of Puglia with the emphasis is on seasonally available ingredients accompanied by a rich selection of the best wines from this region.

Vegetables and home-grown products such as olive oil and fruit are grown or produced in San Domenico’s own land and fresh fish and shellfish come from our Adriatic Coast.

THALASSO TREATMENTS
Its salinity is very rich in minerals and the abundance of trace elements also makes it a primary source of purifi-cation for the human organism. The water used in our center is drawn from a deep underground stratum, which sits at about 400 meters below the sea level.

This water is also completely purified by means of filters and is then heated in our center’s circuit using the most up-to-date equipment. Another beneficial richness coming from the sea is seaweed.

Our seaweeds have vast concentrations of minerals and vitamins, essential for the improvement of our biological functions. The seaweed is crushed and micropow-ered and then added to sea water in hydro massage and compresses. Sea water and seaweed, are an exceptional cocktail producing a equilibrating, tonic, invigorating and detoxifying effect.

THERMOGENESIS
Thermogenesis is a method that triggers body reactions to lose weight and allows getting back in shape in a natu-ral way. The latest studies on natural methods of weight loss show that exposure to temperatures lower than body tempe-rature triggers a physiological reaction that stimulates our body to burn excess fat.

The latest treatment in our SPA is precisely this thermogenesis bath, which starts immersing in water at 18 de-grees, until the temperature is gradually lowered in 20 minutes at 16 degrees.

Inside the tank, funtional exercices or hydro bike helps with the movement to decrease the sensation of cold by further enhancing the dispersion of heat turning food calories into body heat.

LA FONTE BEACH
Pretty cove of white sand shaded by tamarisk trees and adjacent to a water spring, the beach La Fonte is equipped with a bar, sun loungers and umbrellas and it is shared by the guests of Borgo Egnazia and it is therefore accessible to children.
