LUXURY ROOMS
Luxuriously appointed; the rooms at Monte Bay Retreat aim to rival the offerings of the most high-end of hotels, but with a far more personal and private approach. Preserving the historic features of the 300 year old building, each room has been carefully designed integrating the old with a modern opulent touch.

It is not difficult to find a room to match your mood and character. The finest bedding, towels and bathrobes are provided for your leisure, along with organic cosmetics and a generously stocked honesty bar.

LADY OF THE ROCK
Natural light floods in to Our Lady of the Rock through the alcove windows and skylight, bathing the room in the year-round sun enjoyed by the bay. Whether you’ve sunk into the deep and inviting comfort of our Cielo Shui bathtub or between our crisp and pristine sheets, luxury awaits you in Our Lady of the Rock.

ST GEORGE
Our grandest offering, the St. George combines opulence with swathes of natural light. And with both a fireplace and whirlpool bath, we think that the St. George captures all of the granduer of its island namesake.

MT ORJEN
Set at the top of the beautiful Monte Bay villa, Mt. Orjen enjoys a dramatic view to wake up to. The real indulgence is to be found in the bathroom though, where you can refresh or relax with in either the double Carlo Frattiniain Rain and chromotherapy shower or the deep and indulgent Cielo Shui bathtub.

DINING
Monte Bay is proud to provide a personal chef to guide you through the culinary delights over the course of your stay. Our young and very talented chef ,Nikola, has high-end dining experience and has a passion for showing guests all that Montenegro has to offer.

Specialising particularly in seafood and fish dishes, Nikola crafts Montenegrin specialities with a modern twist, using seasonal and local ingredients packed full of flavour. On top of this, he will ensure that you are sent off energised every morning with a delicious continental breakfast, complete with full-bodied coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice.

Whether it be with our very own Nikola, or in the multitude of stunning restaurants on the bay, simplicity and freshness combined with Montenegro’s unique gastronomic heritage you will experience a rich and delicious culinary scene ripe for adventure.

As a cuisine of contrasts, Montenegrin food combines the lightness of the sea with the heartiness of the mountains, the simplicity of its peasant roots with the complexity of more modern international influences. We guarantee you’ll find something to love.

THE BAR
We at Monte Bay pride ourselves with our delicious cocktail “earthy” menu. Enjoy a drink in our spacious under the stars bar or sit by the infinity pool enjoying our local organic wine. Whether you want to mingle with other guests or have a romantic experience with your partner, we have the “alchemy” to make the perfect drink to suit your needs.

SPA & WELLNESS
The Montengrins believe very strongly in the concept of ‘wellness’, and here at Monte Bay we’re inclined to agree. We offer a variety of massages and treatment which we can arrange for you without you having to leave the comfort of your room.

CONCIERGE
Undoubtedly Monte Bay Retreat has few rivals when it comes to the beauty of its location and the opulence and luxury of the rooms it holds. What we truly believe that sets us apart is the personalized nature of our service and the home away and from home feeling that our guests experience during their stay.

Saša and his team have extensive knowledge of the area and are happy to share all of the secrets usually reserved for the locals. From private wine tours to personal speed boat tours, we aim to assist you at every step of your holiday.

Part of this service involves getting to know you more closely, which starts with a welcome drink on arrival. After a couple glasses of our home made rakija we set the tone for the rest of your stay. It is this that sets Monte Bay apart from other offerings in the Boka

PERAST
Our six-bedroom villa – painstakingly renovated to mirror the tradition and heritage of the area – provides unimpeded views across the glittering red rooftops of Perast and out on to the cool water of the bay, where it is not an unusual sight to see dolphins playing (though relaxed yacht owners playing are arguably a little more common!).

Walking straight out of the door provides the opportunity to explore the wonderful town of Perast, winding through beautiful cobbled streets lined with pristine examples of Baroque architecture.

As a UNESCO site that dates back to the Venetian times of the 15th century, Perast is located on the convergence of the Kotor and Risan bays.

The unspoilt natural backdrop of the St. Elijah mountain backdrop is complimented by the mark of history – to be found particularly in Perast’s two most defining symbols, the islands of St. George and Our Lady of the Rocks, home to the mystical and spiritual Benedictine monastery, graveyard, catholic church and museum.

Few other places offer the mysticism, magic and opportunity for relaxation and adventure – the perfect base for your Montenegrin escape.

THINGS TO DO
Be it coasting over the waves on a fishing trip at sea, exploring the winding cobbled streets of ancient Perast, or abseiling gorges in the beautiful Skadar park, your local host Saša Ilić and his staff have both the expertise and passion to ensure that your holiday is packed full of sights, sounds, experiences, and zero stress.

Montenegrins have long recognised the benefits of well-being, and as such, we are able to provide any number of in-house services, including manicures, massages, and beauty treatments. Combined with our beautiful rooms, stunning veranda views, and refreshing pool, we understand if you don’t end up leaving Monte Bay for the whole holiday!

But if you do decide that your energy levels stand a bit higher, there’s endless opportunity here. Hiking in Lovćen, boating on the bay, climbing, abseiling across waterfalls, visiting castles and forts, watersports, wine tasting, or taking a coffee in the cobbled streets of Kotor after a climb on the old town walls—it’s all here.

VELIKA PLAZA BEACH
Velika plaza beach, near Ulcinj in Montenegro is the premier kiteboarding location on the Adriatic Coast. Fourteen kilometres strip of petty sand beach with strong cross onshore winds almost every day during summer afternoons makes it ideal for safe learning.

Set in a protected natural area, surrounded by dunes and hidden by alluvial forests you will find the perfect spot to spend summer holidays on your own, with friends or your family. It is hard to find better and safer surrounding to learn kiteboarding than here.

Shallow, warm water and constant thermal wind make learning here a pure joy. No obstacles in or out of the water. Tides don’t affect riding or safety. Current is not that strong to present any significant danger.

During the summer average temperature is 34°C, water temperature average is 23°C. Along the beach you can ride superb chop and wave conditions most of the time. Flat water spot is located at the southeast end of the beach, inside the river mouth.

NJEGOS MAUSOLEUM
Near the Bay of Kotor and accessed via a winding road that ascends Mount Lovcen just near the town of Kotor itself, you will find the unique opportunity to visit a place that represents the poetry of Montenegro’s soul. Montenegro is full of secrets that are waiting to be discovered.

Many of these secrets are easy to access in a car and the knowledgeable traveller will enjoy exploring ancient towns tucked between tranquil waters and hidden monuments on soaring mountaintops.

Lovcen is so ideally placed on the border between Montenegro’s sea and the mainland, that the opportunity to visit this national park should not be overlooked. Because Lovcen enjoys the climate of both the sea and the interior (depending on which side you’re on), spectacular views are often combined with an abundance of flora and fauna that are combined in exciting, if not unusual ways.

Finally, perched atop Mount Lovcen we find Petar Pretovic-Njegos’ tomb, a grand mausoleum designed by the world-famous Ivan Mestrovic, who against the wishes of Njegos himself, built an impressive mausoleum unlike any other in Europe.

True to his poetic spirit, Petar Pretovic-Njegos wanted to be buried in a simple chapel at the summit of Mount Lovcen, but as you travel to his impressive mausoleum, you will understand the sheer power this monument presents against the backdrop of vividly painted views of the entire country of Montenegro.

CANYON SKURDA KOTOR
An amazing Canyoning Experience for visitors to the Kotor Bay area. Skurda Canyon is a geological feature carved out of the mountain of St. John which stands to the east of of Kotor.

The Skurda River runs almost perfectly vertically down into the Bay of Kotor and has carved an intricate channel with smooth, striated rock faces on three sides, and sometimes four as the canyon becomes a vertical tunnel at some points. The day starts with an upward hike for a view of the majestic, mountainous landscape that Montenegro has to offer.

Follow it up with a venture into the canyon, a thrilling climb, in which the guests will cascade down the canyon walls, through waterfalls and tunnels, and eventually end back at the starting point, the historical town of Kotor. With the help of experienced guides, this trip is accessible to all people in any fitness level.
