L’Olmo is a small cozy Hotel de Charme in the heart of Val d’Orcia, one of the most suggestive and uncontaminated part of Tuscany, middle way between Florence and Rome.

An ancient country house from XVII century set proudly on the top of a gentle hill overlooking the splendor of this unique land. You can admire the city of Pienza that dominates in front of the farmhouse with its superb profile, but then the view is enchanting 360 degrees.

Built in 1600, this country house has been restored to retain the ambience and style of that period, with the maximum respect to the original and classic design of typical Tuscany farmhouses.

The brand new Suites furnished with the elegant Tuscan style, the beamed roof, the parquet floor and the ancient stones floors, are blessed by a spectacular view on one of the most beautiful land of Italy.

A romantic internal Courtyard turned into an open-door living room, is between the two stones buildings; a panoramic heated pool and beside the flowered Pergola, complete the harmony of the outdoor.

All around the house is the garden rich of plants, bloomy flowerbeds and cozy spots where to enjoy the stunning view on the valley. A majestic helm tree welcomes the Guests at the entrance of the property then cypresses, century-old olive trees and fruit trees accompany them towards the house.

Here brooms, jasmines and vines roll up the little Pergolas outside the Garden Suites, and while the lavender and the rosemary recall local perfumes, the ancient roses paint with their colors this little paradise.

The location of our Hotel is central to all most beautiful Tuscan Renaissance cities and is the ideal place for nature and photograph lovers who wants to enjoy the unique peace and beauty of Val d’Orcia.

THE HISTORY
The Tuscan farmhouse of L’Olmo dates back to year 1600. It was an ancient “Stazione di Posta” once called Ommio; a place where pilgrims along the Via Francigena used to stop for the night on their way to Rome, like the ones that from South Italy used to walk the path towards Santiago di Compostela.

With the time the house became a farmstead where peasants used to live, cultivate wheat and breed animals.

Today, after a complete renovation, the country house L’Olmo has been turned into a little Hotel de Charme keeping the original structure elements as the bricked wall of the old granary, the stalls ‘stone arches and the ancient well where you can still drew water.

All this includes L’Olmo among the most precious antique Tuscan dwelling houses.

GRANARY SUITE

PIENZA SUITE
Pienza Suite takes its name from the prospective on the magnificent Pienza skyline that each window has.

Whether you are comfortably relaxed on the special mattress of its charming bed or cuddling yourself in the luminous bathroom or reading on the soft sofa, you will do all this gratifying your sight by the view on one of the most beautiful and antique Tuscan city from the best point of view you can desire.

And the warm sunset light will give you the rare sensation to live out of the time.

POOL SUITE
This Suite of the Villa has a special character, intimate but at the same time comfortable and open to the beauty of the Tuscan landscape; from this room you can directly access to the pool, you can decide whether to have breakfast on the shadow of the Pergola just round the corner or have it served on your private garden right outside the French-door entrance.

Here you can enjoy the relaxing perspective on the valleys that look towards Orient. Furniture and fabrics of this room follow the classic warmth of the most elegant Tuscan simplicity.

THE DINING ROOM
The dining of our Hotel de Charme room is characterized by soft and luminous tones that make it the perfect place for an intimate and serene conviviality.

The large chessboard table beside the French door on the garden invites you to have long and pleasant moments to spend in this lovely room.

All this reminds you the atmosphere of a classic Tuscan country house.

THE WINE CELLARS
Within the Courtyard, you will also find the elegant Cellar of L’Olmo.

On the wooden shelves you can glimpse the superb wine selection with the best Tuscan and Italian wines: from the Nobile of Montepulciano to the Brunello of Montalcino to the fine Super Tuscany, up to the bobbles of Franciacorta, the intense Barolo and Barbaresco from Langhe region, down to the south among the brilliant whites from Campania and the captivating Sicilians.

THE LIVING ROOM
An austere arch at the center of the living room introduce you to a warm and cozy spot of the house where in the summer you are welcomed by the fresh stoned floor while in the cool winter evenings the grand fireplace enchants with its merry and authentic flame.

The billiard corner enhances a lively but at the same time intimate atmosphere to the ambient, like in the most typical Tuscan dwelling houses.

From here, a few rungs signed by the years and by the steps of the time, take you to the dining room and, through a stairs aged 1600, towards the rooms of the house.

THE GAZEBO 
On the shadow of a wide Pergola, the Guests will find the panoramic and fresh Gazebo where they can hide from the heat of the summer days.

Among jasmines, roses and pomegranates, you can have here served breakfast in the morning, as well as having a break from the pool for a light lunch or waiting for the sunset for a romantic candlelight dinner. Nothing better to have a romantic weekend in the heart of Tuscany.

THE COURTYARD
The precious gem held by L’Olmo is its Courtyard. Like the Courtyard of the antique dwelling historical houses, here is where the Guests are welcomed and step by step become confident with the house.

Enriched by the Rubin red of the soft geraniums, it is a real open-air living space for an aperitif at the sunset, for the morning newspaper or for a suggestive dinner under the stars during your romantic weekend in Tuscany.

THE SWIMMING POOL
Surrounded by rose and lavender’s hedges, the heated and super panoramic swimming pool of our Hotel lays hidden behind the house.

The mount Amiata dominates on the front and the view of the city of Pienza and of the mild hills of Tuscany accompanies the sunny days of the Guests, which can here stay for a light lunch by the pool and for complete relaxing moments.

WEDDINGS IN TUSCANY
Wedding at L’Olmo: our outdoor is perfect location for private events and weddings able to host up to 200 guests.

The stone-paved pool area is usually setting for aperitif and after-dinner dancing area with open bar, while dinner reception is set by the garden with a marquee tent if necessary.

Garden, pergola and swimming pool are also perfect to organize brunches and pool parties the day after the wedding. For the organization of events, the exclusive rental of the structure is always required.

MONTICCHIELLO TOUR
A tour in the nearby of L’Olmo is a must during your stay or weekend in Tuscany. Very close to L’Olmo is this little medieval town surrounded by ancient walls and towers.

Entering through the main arch, you immediately have the sensation of being taken back in time. Famous for its folkloristic Teatro Povero that takes place every summer for a two weeks open-air play. Distance from Hotel: 2 km.

PIENZA TOUR
Pienza and the enchanting Val d’Orcia which you can admire form the terraces of the town, are Unesco Humane Heritage since 1996. Here was born the one who would have become Pope Pio II which, on 1459 decided to entrust architect Rossellino, the project to have Pienza rebuilt as the Ideal City.

After ages, this little Renaissance jewel still shines of the beauty of that time. Pienza and the splendid Val d’Orcia that you can admire from the terraces of the town are Human Heritage under the protection of the Unesco since year 1996. Distance from Hotel: 8 km.

THERMAE OF BAGNO VIGNONI
One of the most ancient Spa town of Italy characterized by the huge Medician bath that the main square held. Especially fascinating at the sunset when the steam of the water creates a suggestive atmosphere on the magnificent square.

The healing quality of the thermal water has been known since Roman time and, according to legend, historic names as Catherine from Siena and Lorenzo the Magnificent sought a cure in Bagno Vignoni. Distance from Hotel: 13 km.

SANT’ANNA IN CAMPRENA MONASTERY
In the nearby of Pienza is an old Olivetian Monastery of XIV century with frescos by II Sodoma and a splendid Italia garden. It was used extensively in the filming of “The Engliish Patient”. Distance from Hotel: 15 km.

MONTEPULCIANO
During you stay you can take advantage of the proximity of our Hotel to Montepulciano, one of the highest of Tuscany hilltop town, famous for its prestigious red Vino Nobile as per its antique palaces and music and theatre festivals.

You can reach the main square Piazza Grande, at the top of the town, along the many narrow streets that take you back to Medioeval atmospheres; you will there remain astonished by the beauty of the Duomo and of the Town Hall palace that dominate on the square.

Another enchanting sightseeing is San Biagio Temple, just outside the city, a Tuscan Renaissance gem, masterpiece of Antonio da San Gallo. Distance from Hotel: 15 km.

SAN QUIRICO D’ORCIA
Inside the antique walls of this village in Val d’Orcia you will find La Collegiata, a XII century Romanesque-Gothic church with an exceptional facade. In addition, you can visit the Horti Leonini, a lovely Renaissance garden. Distance from Hotel: 16 km

MONTALCINO
Our Hotel is very close to the characteristic town of Montalcino, Medieval town of rare beauty castled on the top of the hill that divides the Val d’Orcia and the Valle d’Ombrone that leads to the sea.

Famous all over the world for its Brunello, superb quality red wine, also characterized for its pentagonal Fortress where every year the majestic presentation of the new Brunello and a prestigious Jazz festival are held.

Not far from the ancient town is the Sant’Antimo Abbey, one of the most important Roman architectures well known all over the world for its beauty and for the suggestive Gregorian chants that accompany every pray. Distance from Hotel: 30 km.

CORTONA
Castled on a hill that mark the edge between Tuscany and Umbria, Cortona is a medieval village with romantic alleys and a splendid Square on which dominates the Duomo staircase and the beautiful Signorelli Theatre.

Not far from the historical centre is hidden the suggestive Hermitage “Le Celle” built by San Francesco d’Assisi among the peaceful wood of Monte Egidio. Distance from Hotel: 40 km.

ABBAZIA MONTE OLIVETO MAGGIORE
Situated among cypress trees this abbey is the original home of the Olivetians, an order of Benedictine monks founded in 1313. The main attraction here is the cloister with 36 superb frescos by Luca Signorelli and Il Sodoma. One should also visit the wooden choir inlaid By Giovanni da Verona in the abbey church. Distance from Hotel: 40 km.
