The Villa family has been running the Santa Maria degli Ancillotti Suites and restaurant in Assisi since 1992 with the same passion and care as it always has, with a personal commitment to its guests and their comfort.

You’ll always find them in the right place at the right time, but they’re never intrusive and you’ll be won over by their easygoing nature. As the head of the family Paolo used to say, guests will enjoy a newfound calm at Santa Maria degli Ancillotti.

SUITE

The Suites are the result of a careful renovation and offer a double bedroom with stylish furniture, safe and LCD TV, and a bright living room with table, chairs, double sofa bed, free minibar, kettle with tea and coffee and LCD TV.

The classic décor of the rooms contrasts with the modernity of the bathroom, which has a large glass shower, bidet, hair dryer, bathrobes, and towels for the swimming pool. Each Suite has an outdoor area equipped with table and chairs to enjoy the peace of the park, and all rooms are air-conditioned with free Wi-Fi. There is daily cleaning and change of linen.

MASTER SUITE

Designed for families and those who love space, the Master Suite is spread over 75 square meters with a double bedroom and a twin room furnished in classic style, with safe and LCD TV in each room. The spacious living room, again in classic style, is equipped with a double sofa bed, table, chairs, LCD TV, free minibar, and kettle with tea and coffee.

The two modern bathrooms have a large glass shower, bidet, hair dryer, bathrobes and pool towels. The outdoor area is furnished with table and chairs, and all rooms are air-conditioned with free Wi-Fi. There is daily cleaning and change of linen.

THE RESTAURANT
The restaurant, open exclusively to guests, follows the family philosophy of Santa Maria degli Ancillotti. The tastes and smells of our grandmothers’ recipes delight the palates of our guests, rediscovering a culinary tradition that the Villa family has made its own.

The careful search for quality products brings out the flavours and smells of a cuisine based on the simplicity of the recipes and the choice of ingredients, carefully selected by your hosts.

Every evening, Santa Maria degli Ancillotti offers you a different journey through the pleasures of traditional cuisine with menus created according to the season. All this is accompanied by a well-stocked cellar where the wines of selected local producers go hand in hand with some more exclusive names.

SWIMMING POOL
The clear seasonal outdoor swimming pool, 16 meters by 8 meters, is nestled in the park of Santa Maria degli Ancillotti and surrounded by large sun umbrellas and comfortable sun loungers. Here you can cool off with a dip or a nice swim or read a book while enjoying a drink, or even take a short afternoon nap soothed by the summer breeze.

JACUZZI
In the pool area, a comfortable Jacuzzi is available to our guests throughout the day.

BIKES
Santa Maria degli Ancillotti offers free bicycles for guests to visit the surrounding countryside.

ANTOGNOLLA GOLF CLUB
Designed by the well-known architect Robert Trent Jones Jr., the 18-hole Antognolla course is considered one of the most beautiful and challenging golf courses in Italy, with its long, sloping fairways, making it ideal for golfers of all levels.

ASSISI
Perched on top of a hill overlooking the valley, Assisi is an artistic and mystical jewel of Umbria that has played a fundamental role in history, as it was from here that St. Francis left in his bid to transform the church.

His mark and that of Saint Clare remain here in the churches, sanctuaries and crypts that attract millions of followers every year, and where you can find the masterpieces of Giotto and Simone Martini.

BEVAGNA
Isolated from the industrial development of the region, Bevagna’s medieval layout remains intact. Walking around the town, you can admire typical windows, cornices, pointed arches and terracotta friezes reminiscent of this distant era.

The Gaite market revives ancient traditions and crafts, such as the art of brickwork, hemp work and loom weaving. We recommend starting your exploration of the town from Piazza Silvestri, one of the most beautiful squares in Italy.

GUBBIO
Sometimes known as the “grey city”, Gubbio takes its nickname from the uniform colour of the limestone blocks used to build this splendid town, where landmarks and historical buildings are set in incredible scenery.

Start your visit from Piazza Grande, between Palazzo dei Consoli and Palazzo Pretorio, and from this extraordinary hilltop square you can enjoy a splendid view over the whole valley.

MARMORE FALLS
Built by the ancient Romans in a lush valley, spanning 165 metres in height, the Marmore Falls are not only one of the highest artificial waterfalls in the world, but also a splendid natural park with educational activities and guided tours.

MONTEFALCO
Known above all for the production of wine, the “balcony of Umbria” is the ideal vantage point to admire the towns of Perugia, Assisi, Spello, Foligno, Spoleto and Bevagna, and the surrounding hills covered with olive groves and vineyards. Get an insight into the history and culture of Montefalco at the St. Francis Church Museum.

ORVIETO
Seen from below, at night, the city seems suspended in the sky, perched on its volcanic tuff rock. But there’s much more to Orvieto than its majestic Duomo, a Gothic architectural wonder, and St. Patrick’s Well, a masterpiece of hydraulic engineering: beneath the surface lies another world of ancient tunnels and cisterns.

PERUGIA
The region’s capital isn’t full of tourists during the day and then empty at night. Although it retains the appearance of a medieval village, it is bustling with activity linked to the largest university for foreigners in Italy and cultural events that take place throughout the year. Reaching Corso Vannucci through the network of underground escalators is not to be missed.

SCARZUOLA
The “theatre-city” designed by the Milanese architect Tommaso Buzzi came from his desire to create the ideal city, dreamt of for centuries by artists from all over the world. Here, the spaces inspired by Hadrian’s Villa, Villa d’Este and the Acropolis intertwine in maze-like passages, walkways, staircases and colonnades just like in a great and visionary theatrical set.

SPELLO
Famous for its magnificent floral decorations (Infiorate) made every year for the Feast of Corpus Christi and created by artists and local residents together with the many tourists who flock to Spello for this occasion, the structure of the ancient Roman colony Flavia Constans remains intact, making it one of the most beautiful towns in Italy.

SPOLETO
The ancient capital of the Longobards preserves the richness of the historical and artistic heritage of the city, testimony to the various historical periods which made Spoleto one of the most important places in Umbria.

The magic of the historic centre has remained perfectly preserved, and in the Duomo you’ll find the magnificent frescoes of Pinturicchio. However, we also suggest walking along the 230 metres of the impressive Ponte delle Torri bridge that connects the fortress and Monteluco, as long as you don’t suffer from vertigo – it’s 82 metres high!

TODI
Located a few kilometres from Perugia and Orvieto, the medieval town of Todi stands on a hill overlooking the Tiber River valley and is surrounded by three circles of wall from different eras (Etruscan, Roman and medieval).

Inside the walls are landmarks and squares which are in striking contrast to the religious structures such as the Duomo, built on the remains of a temple dedicated to the God Apollo.
