Nestling in the beautiful landscape of the Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage, you can enjoy nature, rest and relax at our hotel on the Alpe di Siusi.

The bizarre rocky forms of the Dolomites are of a magnificence and splendour that is nothing short of unique. Ten years ago, the Pale Mountains were designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Nine of the Dolomite mountain ranges were added to the list, including the Sciliar and the Catinaccio.

Inclusion in the World Heritage is the highest honour in the world for a natural site, similar to the “Nobel Prize for natural assets,” UNESCO has rigorous criterias, for example, determining whether the location is genuinely a unique one of a kind site of exceptional universal importance.

They were classified as a site of unique global significance because of their exceptional natural beauty, together with their geological and geomorphological value. The area is around 142,000 hectares and stretches over the provinces of Bolzano (South Tyrol), Pordenone, Trento, Belluno and Udine.

CULINARY DELICACIES
Passion for pleasure
Excellent gourmet moments in our restaurant on Alpe di Siusi. South Tyrol is a symbiosis of alpine and Mediterranean… these two passions live in our souls: we love the Dolomites, the needle forests and the fresh mountain air.

However, we also have a passion for Mediterranean and southern cultures. In our food you find exactly this two symbiosis. At the Sporthotel Floralpina you will receive selected products, which are harvested from our vegetable and herb garden on the Alpe di Siusi, as well as products produced by local farmers, butchers and bakers.

But you also get products from Lake Garda, where Mr. Kofler grows and sorts vegetables, fruit, olive oil and wine on his farm Monte in Lazise. The self-made products can be recognized by our logo on the breakfast and dinner buffet.

Bio products from the Alpe di Siusi on the buffet
It is important for us to can offer healthy, high quality and if possible organic food to our guests. What could be better than getting products from a farm of the Alp di Siuisi?

Thanks to the “Plattkofelalm”, this is possible during the summer months. Almost daily we get fresh butter, bread ham, and mountain cheese. The Plattkofelalm is definitely worth a hike. Maybe then you can even spot the cows and goats, the “suppliers” of the organic butter and cheese from your buffet, while grazing.

Behind the hotel’s own Stadl, we are planting a herb garden every year. From there we get chives, parsley, but also salad, every day and use it for our fresh food.

Mediterranean bio products from the Garda lake
Olives, wine and vegetables from our own farm. The mild climate of Lake Garda favours an abundant cultivation of fruit and vegetables during almost the entire year. At our Monte Manor we grow mainly fruit and vegetables, olives and wine.

Josef Kofler lovingly cultivates his residence and spends many hours of his free time to make the most out of the vegetables, fruit, herbs and wine.

As soon as the organic products are ready, they are harvested and Josef Kofler brings the fresh organic products directly to the Sporthotel Floralpina. Master Chef Marek then processes the products into delicious dishes and our guests (especially in summer) can enjoy them every day.

Homemade bio wine from the gardalake
Bardolino and Garganega from Lazise, winegrowing area Veneto. The farm Monte is located in the immediate vicinity of Lake Garda, in the winegrowing area Veneto, where Mr. Kofler grows his red wine Bardolino and white wine and prosecco Garganega.

He dispenses with chemical-synthetic pesticides and fertilizers and uses instead grape varieties that are resistant to fungal infections. Important in bioremediation is the defoliation: in a well-lighted foliage, the fungal spores germinate worse. This means a lot of manual work.

Mr. Kofler foregoes maximum returns. The careful handling of soil and plants also affects the pressing. Mr. Kofler let his grapes getting crushed, pressed and bottled at the organic wine cellar “Le Tende” close to Cavaion Veronese. So the organic wine can be guaranteed.

Bio olive oil from the lago di garda
The production of olive oil has basically not changed for the last centuries. On our farm the olives get picked over by hand to weed out unsound olives. To them in this way they don´t get squeezed – what the best prerequisite for a good olive oil is.

The best time for the olive harvest is depending on the desired character of the olive oil, in autumn to winter just before maturity. After the washing the olives were mashed into a paste with a simple mortar and pestle.

Extra virgin olive oil is the highest grade of virgin oil derived by cold mechanical extraction without use of solvents or refining methods. This preserves all the valuable ingredients of the ripeolives, which are crucial for the taste, smell, color and also the vitamin content of the oil.

Depending on the variety, you need about 5 -10 kilograms of olives for one liter of olive oil. On average, 50-70 kg of olives are harvested from an olive tree. A single tree therefore produces about 5 – 10 liters of oil per year.
