1871 restaurant at Stanley & Livingstone is open to hotel guests, visitors, and locals alike, with an incredible view of wildlife on the reserve. The menu pairs excellent wines with enduring favourites like beef fillet, venison loin or pan-fried Zambezi bream; must-try traditional dishes like African sadza and nyama (Zimbabwe’s braai or barbecue); as well as a delicious selection of vegetarian dishes. The sustainable, seasonal, farm-to-table ethos is evident in every single dish.
Clinking generously filled glasses of Cape premium wines, paired with a seasonal menu, in the chandelier-lit 1871 at Stanley & Livingstone is an every-night affair. Dinners under the stars or prettily set up in your Suite are served here, too.

RHINO CONSERVATION

SAFARI
An African safari in Vic Falls is a wonder in itself – an experience to rival any on the continent, showcasing its most iconic wildlife. Our luxury safaris go out on the 4 000ha (9 900ac) Victoria Falls Private Game Reserve – the only privately-owned reserve within the immediate vicinity of Victoria Falls.
All of the Big Five, rare and endangered species, and flourishing birdlife find sanctuary here, and their diverse habitats across grasslands, forests and rivers are idyllic environments to enjoy scenic game viewing experiences – including black rhino game drives.
THE RESERVE
Victoria Falls Private Game Reserve (VFPGR) is the only privately-owned reserve within the immediate vicinity of the Victoria Falls and the only reserve in the region where you can see the critically-endangered black rhino.
Established in 1996, VFPGR is a conservation success story that includes its designation in 2000 as a rhino Intensive Protection Zone with a thriving monitoring and breeding programme.
THE WILDLIFE
Along with once-in-a-lifetime black rhino encounters, VFPGR offers a bucket-list safari experience to rival any of the national parks.
You’ll have the chance to tick off the rest of the Big Five, more big game including the eland and rare sable antelope – Zimbabwe’s national animal – shy and unusual species like bat-eared foxes and aardwolves, as well as an extensive checklist of resident and migratory birds.
ANTI-POACHING UNIT
It’s thanks to the extraordinary efforts and intelligence of the Victoria Falls Private Game Reserve Anti-Poaching Unit that our reserve is such a successful designated rhino Intensive Protection Zone, with a healthy population of the critically endangered species.
Despite facing immensely challenging conditions, this dedicated team has made it their life’s purpose to protect these magnificent animals, almost guaranteed to be seen!
MORNING SAFARI
Our early drives take you into a wilderness where wildlife is king. Traversing its basalt plains, open grasslands and teak forests to meet the shores of the Masuwe River, you’ll encounter a great diversity of game, with a chance to see the extremely rare and endangered rhino.
EVENING SAFARI
An evening safari offers a whole new perspective on the bush. Curious nocturnal animals are bound to make an appearance, stars twinkle in the dark sky by their millions, but not before the African sunset threatens to steal the show with its effervescent display… leaving you in awe of it all.
WALKING SAFARI
Ours is the only walking safari on a Big Five reserve within the vicinity of Victoria Falls. Breeze through the grass, tiny animal tracks, faint grunting in the distance, a flash of feathers, beetle chirps on repeat like a mantra. This is a pared-back, elemental experience that feels all the more real.
RHINO SAFARI
Victoria Falls Private Game Reserve is a black rhino Intensive Protection Zone. To generate funds for this vital work, we bring you an extremely rare chance to see this critically endangered animal in the wild.
After a briefing by your field guide, go on a one-of-a-kind game drive. A portion of the funds paid for this unforgettable experience go towards important rhino conservation projects.
