Girona and its Jewish quarter (27 km from the hotel)
Girona is a charming city. A stroll around its beautiful historic quarter, discovering its cobbled streets, crossing the bridges over the Onyar river, following the path of the wall or entering the cathedral up its baroque stairway make the visit a fascinating day.

It also boasts the best preserved medieval Jewish quarter in Europe. The hotel is just 20 minutes from the city and, if you have time, we recommend a visit. It’s certain to win your heart.

Barcelona (100 km from the hotel)
If you’ve never been, we guarantee it will sweep you off your feet. History, design, Mediterranean, cuisine, and a beautifully powerful architecture that is greatly influenced by modernism, with Gaudí at the forefront. A visit to works such as the Sagrada Familia, La Pedrera or Park Güell are a must.

It’s also a real luxury to stroll along the promenade, sunbathe on its beaches, and lose yourself in the historic quarter or around the small squares in the Gracia district.

And of course, having tapas in La Barceloneta district, going shopping on Passeig de Gràcia where you can find the best brands in the world, or discovering the magical forests of Collserola Natural Park or Montjuïc.

It is impossible to visit Barcelona in just one day, but perhaps this is one of its charms. And a piece of advice: never stop looking as you stroll through its streets, as you’ll discover thousands of fascinating details in the most unexpected places.

Dalí Triangle (75 Km from the hotel)
Born in Figueres (Girona), Salvador Dalí was famous for being very eccentric and gave a new perspective to surrealism to become the most famous artist of his genre worldwide.

This route runs through the province of Girona and the Costa Brava from three unique places: the Dalí Museum Theatre (Figueres), one of the most popular museums in Catalonia; the Museum-House in Portlligat (Cadaqués), a small fisherman’s house where the artist lived and painted for years, and Gala Dalí castle in Póbul (La Pera), a medieval castle that Dalí gave to Gala, his wife and muse. Three incredible places to discover the life and work of the unique Dalí.

Carmen Thyssen Space (10 Km from the hotel)
Combine your stay at Natura Suites with a good art exhibition next to the sea. The Carmen Thyssen Space is a benchmark on the Costa Brava and is located in the famous monastery of the coastal town of Sant Feliu de Guíxols, only a few metres from the beach.

In the museum, you can enjoy temporary exhibitions by leading major artists from June to October, as well as works from the private collection of Baroness Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza, such as Vincent van Gogh, Gauguin, Kandinsky, Matisse, Jan Josephzs van Goye, Camille Pissarro and the Catalan artist Ramon Martí Alsina.

The new museum is planned to open in 2020, which will also house a permanent collection of Catalan paintings.

Cadaqués (96 km from the hotel)
Cadaqués is a small town full of emotions, considered by many to be the pearl of the Costa Brava and one of the prettiest in Catalonia. Exceptional spots stand out, such as Cap de Creus Natural Park and the town’s landscape of white houses and narrow streets, with pretty shops and art galleries.

There is also its delicious food, its incredible beaches and coves, and the spectacular routes such as a visit to Cala Nans Lighthouse.

Llafranc (28 Km from the hotel)
Lying on fine-sanded beaches with crystal-clear water, having an aperitif on the promenade, or visiting the church of Santa Rosa de Lima are just some of the experiences that you might take away from Llafranc, this small coastal village considered one of the main charms of the Costa Brava.

Sant Sebastià lighthouse and the restored Iberian settlement are also a must. It is only a few kilometres away from other very charming villages, such as Tamariu, Calella de Palafrugell, Begur and Pals.

Calella de Palafrugell
This small village in El Baix Empordà is on the lists of the prettiest villages on the Costa Brava. The picturesque white houses, cobbled streets, boats at the port and lovely coves make it a small paradise.

We recommend discovering the landscape by following the coastline along the Coastal Path -formerly used to protect the village from pirates- on foot, by bike or on horseback.

You can also enjoy its cuisine, especially the sea urchins, and the traditional “Cantada d’Havaneras” singing in July, a gathering of reference that has been around for over fifty years.

Begur (37 Km from the hotel)
Begur is a wonderful village on the Costa Brava that is formed by a group of cliffs and corners of extremely beautiful countryside, such as the small beaches and fantastic coves. You will also enjoy the small Romanesque village of Esclanyà and the medieval castle. It is an ideal place for water sports, hiking or bike rides.

Sant Feliu de Guíxols (10 Km from the hotel)
You will find endless beaches and spectacular coves in this small fishing town surrounded by countryside. We recommend visiting the architectural site of the Benedictine monastery, the modernist site of Sant Pol, the market or the Casino de la Constancia, among others.

And while you there, don’t miss its cuisine and its range of activities. It is the ideal place to visit from the hotel, even for a few hours.

Besalú (63 km from the hotel)
There are many ways of discovering the Middle Ages, and Besalú is one of them. One way of entering the town is over its famous 12th century bridge.

Although it was not possible to preserve the original condition of this old fortress, it is possible to see how it would have looked in the Middle Ages thanks to important buildings such as the Jewish baths, the Monastery, the old pilgrims’ hospital or the Casa Cornellà house.

Besalú has great historic value, was declared a cultural asset of national interest and is one of the most important examples of medieval towns in Catalonia.

Peratallada (37 Km from the hotel)
If you want to take a trip to the Middle Ages, don’t miss this small wonder. Its streets preserve the original layout of the time and you can follow and even walk over the same stones as our ancestors.

Given that its state of preservation is so impressive, it was declared a Historic-Artistic Site in 1975. A town that has been able to truly preserve its essence and that will take you back to the past. Totally recommendable.

Pals (30 Km from the hotel)
Pals is a lovely, perfectly preserved medieval town with cobbled streets, arched alleyways and plant-covered buildings. A quiet town in which its military past goes unnoticed as you walk through, it was the victim of several peasants’ revolts that culminated with the war against John II.

The old castle was damaged and its stones were used to build the wall and the church of San Pere. From the vantage point, you are given a wonderful view with the Medes Islands in the background.

Romanyà de la Selva (6 Km from the hotel)
Less than 10 minutes from the hotel, you have the chance to visit three places of great natural and cultural value, all in this small village.

One of them is the old site of megalithic constructions, the other, the 10th century pre-Romanesque church, and finally the cemetery where Mercè Rodoreda, one of the major names in Catalan literature, was buried.

You will enjoy a bucolic setting, covered with a very well-kept, peaceful cork oak forest in which to stroll, disconnect and take some good photos.

The ruins of Empúries (56 Km from the hotel)
An archaeological site dating back 2500 years is awaiting you in an idyllic place with spectacular sea views and access to beautiful beaches and coves. It was built by the Greeks in the 6th century B.C. before being occupied by the Romans in the 1st century B.C.

Thanks to its trading activity, it was a prosperous area until it was abandoned and covered by the dunes, remaining hidden until 1908. Walls, pillars, houses, streets, marbles and paintings of incalculable value. Are you going to miss it?

Empordà Designation of Origin wine route
If you are an enthusiast of wine and of the secrets it holds, there is a wide range of wine tourism especially for you throughout the Empordà area: visits to cellars and to wine-gastronomy museums, concerts in vineyards, evening tasting sessions, wine therapy sessions, etc.

Experience it first hand and try good wines in all of its versions: white, rosé, red and sweet. The Empordà is one of the oldest wine producing regions in the world. Make the most of your stay at Natura Suites and open a bottle of good wine.

Michelin-starred restaurants
The region’s cuisine has always been one of its attractions, thanks to the high quality of its produce, its proximity to the sea, and the culinary wisdom of the Empordà.

What is more, over recent years, creativity, innovation, and the high level of great chefs have led it to receive great recognition and to become a benchmark worldwide.

Do not leave the Costa Brava without trying the menu at one of these Michelin-starred restaurants, the utmost award in cuisine. A pleasure that everyone should try at least once in life.

Costa Brava
The Costa Brava is a world of sensations. From Blanes to Portbou, you will discover spectacular and surprising areas of seaside or mountains, with impressive natural parks, secret coves or, quite simply, small, picturesque and inviting spots that will win your heart forever.

All combined with the excellent range of cuisine, with produce of an exceptional quality, and the cultural and traditional proposals of each of its towns. Ask us any time at reception and we will inform you of the area and the places you must not miss.

Coastal Paths
Almost 130 kilometres of old paths along the coastline of the Costa Brava. They were built to connect towns and villages and, later on, were used to control illegal trade and smuggling from the sea.

There are now several routes from Blanes to Portbou, which will amaze you with their fabulous views. Cliffs, wild plant life, romantic evenings… Some are very easy, others require a higher level of fitness. There’s bound to be an ideal Coastal Path for you.

Greenways
Greenways are old railway tracks that have been converted into fun routes to walk or ride your bike along as you enjoy the local countryside and great historic-cultural heritage. They are easy and accessible for all users.

There are several greenways in the province of Girona. Those nearest the hotel are the Ruta del Carrilet from Sant Feliu de Guíxols (39.7 km), with lovely countryside right to the coast, and the Ruta del Tren Petit (6 km), which runs from Palamós to Palafrugell.

Medes Islands (52 Km from the hotel)
Just a mile from l’Estartit beach are the Medes Islands, formed by 7 islands and several islets. Their ecosystem has been classified as the best nature reserve in the Western Mediterranean. They have no inhabitants and the only building is the Meda Gran Lighthouse.

They have been protected for over twenty years and are a true paradise for scuba diving, taking boat trips or renting a glass-bottomed boat to see the seabed. In summer, there is a wide range of sailing and underwater activities related to the islands.

Beaches and coves
Over 200 km of beaches and coves make up the coastline of the Costa Brava. Crystal-clear, blue and turquoise waters, plenty of plant life and forests, sharp cliffs and an intense smell of the sea. Some are hidden, others are difficult to reach, which means they preserve their wildness.

Others are large and fine-sanded. There are so many that it is difficult to choose, but if you are staying at the hotel and don’t know where to start, try the nearest ones such as Cala S’Agaró and Cala del Pi (Platja d’Aro) or Cala Estreta and Cala Foradada (Palamós).

Hiking
If you want to see more of the surroundings of Natura Suites and enjoy a walk through the lovely Solius mountains, we have prepared seven routes that are possible on foot or by bike starting from the hotel.

Vintage Markets
The custom of second-hand or “vintage” markets is very deep-rooted on the Costa Brava: furniture, books, records, antiques… and many things you would never expect to find. In the summer, the markets also have live music and street food. There is one for every taste and season, so there’s bound to be one for you.

Begur AmericanFair
Begur celebrates its Indianos Fair during the first weekend in September and transforms its 360º to relive its close relationship with Cuba in the 19th century. A time when many of its inhabitants emigrated to the island and prospered, before returning and building ostentatious houses that remain standing to this day.

The fair includes musical performances, habanera singers, recreations from the period, exhibitions, guided tours, etc. Three days with a real Indiano atmosphere.

Cap Roig Festival
Considered the greatest musical event on the Costa Brava and one of the leading summer festivals in Southern Europe.

The most renowned national and international artists from each musical genre come together every summer at this exceptional outdoor location by the sea, in a natural setting formed by Cap Roig Castle and the botanical garden, between the towns of Calella de Palafrugell and Mont-Ras.

A range of cultural and artistic activities that will give you goose bumps if you have the chance to attend.

Platja d’Aro Carnival
The origins of Platja d’Aro carnival are unknown, as no documents have been found with a reference to it, although it is known to be very old. The figure of the “Carnastoltes” and the parades of floats fill the streets with colour and joy, with over 4,000 people and 70 different groups competing to be the best.

Other activities also take place on the same dates alongside the carnival, such as street parties serving rice dishes, hot chocolate, butifarra sausages or sardines (the latter known as the “entierro de la sardina” or “burial of the sardine”).

Peralada Castle Festival
In July and August, the medieval site of the castle and its gardens form the setting for Peralada Castle Festival, an exceptional cultural event that is able to fascinate and move the general public year after year.

It includes the major voices of the present times, with a varied programme that includes symphony concerts, operas, music and theatre performances, dance, jazz, etc. The event started in 1987 and is now one of the most prestigious in the world, surrounded by a great deal of glamour.

Porta Ferrada Festival
An alluring summer proposal that won’t disappoint. Presented for the first time in 1958, it is one of the most deep-rooted festivals in Catalonia, with a wide range of multi-cultural activities.

There is music, theatre, workshops, and a wide variety of activities over a fortnight, from July to August. The performances are not just limited to a stage, but fill the streets, the squares, and every corner of the pretty town of Sant Feliu de Guíxols.
