Velika plaza beach, near Ulcinj in Montenegro is the premier kiteboarding location on the Adriatic Coast. Fourteen kilometres strip of petty sand beach with strong cross onshore winds almost every day during summer afternoons makes it ideal for safe learning.

Set in a protected natural area, surrounded by dunes and hidden by alluvial forests you will find the perfect spot to spend summer holidays on your own, with friends or your family. It is hard to find better and safer surrounding to learn kiteboarding than here.

Shallow, warm water and constant thermal wind make learning here a pure joy. No obstacles in or out of the water. Tides don’t affect riding or safety. Current is not that strong to present any significant danger.

NJEGOS MAUSOLEUM 
Near the Bay of Kotor and accessed via a winding road that ascends Mount Lovcen just near the town of Kotor itself, you will find the unique opportunity to visit a place that represents the poetry of Montenegro’s soul. Montenegro is full of secrets that are waiting to be discovered.

CANYON SKURDA KOTOR
An amazing Canyoning Experience for visitors to the Kotor Bay area. Skurda Canyon is a geological feature carved out of the mountain of St. John which stands to the east of of Kotor.

The Skurda River runs almost perfectly vertically down into the Bay of Kotor and has carved an intricate channel with smooth, striated rock faces on three sides, and sometimes four as the canyon becomes a vertical tunnel at some points. The day starts with an upward hike for a view of the majestic, mountainous landscape that Montenegro has to offer.

Verige divided the bay into 4 parts and thus shaped its essence. On two external, Bay of Herceg Novi and bay of Tivat and two internal, Bay of Risan and Bay of Kotor.

Lastavica

Island near Herceg Novi is the first you will see from the sea. The most famous place on the island is the fortress Mamula, which was built by the Austro-Hungarian general Lazar Mamula in the middle of the 19th century.

Today, the island is better known as Mamula. It served as an infamous prison during the 1st and 2nd World War, but today it is a real tourist attraction and a must-see destination. Mamula is located on the stone island surrounded by the turquoise sea and it has preserved centuries-old history.

Vavedenje

Small stone island located in the Mirište Cove near Cape Azra provides one of the most beautiful views of the Boka bay. Even today in the six-century-old monastery complex Vavedenje lives monk and preserves reach history from the ravages of time.

Island of flowers

The island of flowers is also known as the Holy Archangel Michael (Sveti Arhangel Mihailo) and its old monastery is built in the 6th century. It is connected to the mainland by a small isthmus, so you can reach the island by road as well.

So many legends and old stories are connected to this island. Monastery complex once occupied the entire island but today only one building, a small church of the Trinity has been renovated.

Still, we have the opportunity to see the remains of the Archangel Michael old church from the VI century. The island of flowers is a real green oasis of peace where the history, wild vegetation, and all-natural beauty has been preserved.

The island of Saint Marco (Stradioti)

According to the legend, the Greek gods gave this island to brave warriors as a reward for victories in great battles. To heal there their wounds and return inner peace. Fascinated by the unusual beauty of the island, soldiers made a vow of peace and planted an olive tree.

In the following years, the whole olive garden was growing. However, by breaking their vows they angered the Gods who sent them storms and diseases. Magnificent olive groves still resist the ravages of time.

Island of Our Lady of Mercy

On the island of Our Lady of Mercy crossed themselves mystery, history, and incredible beauty. There is no corner here without a story, a legend, or anecdote.

The island was founded by monks which were attracted by his magic and in that name built a monastery and a large church in honor of Our Lady of Mercy. 6 centuries-old church with a bell tower today represents one of the most beautiful Catholic buildings in Kotor Bay.

St. George’s Island

The island of St.George is one of the most mysterious places in Montenegro. It attracts tourists with its rich, but tragic history, as well as a special atmosphere. Old stories say that the island of St. George is located exactly in the geographical middle of the Bay of Kotor.

Surrounded by stone walls and hidden from a view by tall cypress canopy, the island hides many secrets and skillfully keeps its age-old peace. Officially, tourists can not visit an island and they are allowed only to view the island in a circle from the sea, not stepping on its territory.

Our Lady of the Rocks Island

Our Lady of the Rocks stands proudly opposite the old town of Perast and this island is one of the most beautiful places in the whole Kotor Bay. As a stingy gift of nature, the island was built with the help of human hands by many sailors in hundreds of years.

According to the legend, two brothers, both sailors found an icon of the Holy Mother with a child on the sea-cliff in the middle of the sea. They brought it home but the next morning it was gone. It appeared at the same sea-cliff another day and two brothers took it home one more time.

The same thing happened again – the icon disappeared and reappeared on the sea-cliff. Two brothers thought that was a Virgin’s wish to stay there forever. So they made a promise to build a church dedicated to Holy Mother.

From that day, after returning from each voyage, the sailors used to lay stones along the island shore. That is how the island through the years was created. In the depths of the bay, the foundations of the island are strengthened by hundreds of old sailing ships filled with stone and sunk to ensure its eternal existence.

The Ancient Town of Budva

Ostrog Monastery
This striking building was erected during the 17th century and carved out of the Ostroska Greda ridge. Situated inland, it is the most visited monastery in the Balkan region. Its stunning white glow stands out at the foot of an impressive rocky cliff.

It is a sacred sanctuary for Orthodox Christians and a place of pilgrimage, particularly during the Assumption. To reach the monastery, one must follow a narrow road up the cliff.

The inside of the monastery is made of two small caves, which were restored after a fire broke out in 1923. Here, one can admire frescos by Master Radul who used the cave walls as a canvas to depict classical religious scenes.

Ulcinj
The city of Ulcinj has both south-Mediterranean and oriental influences. It embodies a crossroads between cultures and therefore offers an absolutely unique atmosphere.

Its amphitheatre structure is stunning and the old town has been completely restored. At night fall, the local nightclubs bring out the town’s unsuspected effervescence.

Durmitor National Park
In the north-west of Montenegro lies Durmitor National Park, a pristine natural area boasting sharp mountain peaks such as Bobotov Kuk sitting at 2,523 m tall. If you are looking for large spaces and the sense of freedom that goes with them, this is the place for you.

Lake Skadar National Park
Lake Skadar is the second largest lake in Europe and has been classed as a national park. Located in the south-east of the country, its vast marshy landscapes are a great nesting ground for birds. The road along the southern coast to the border with Albania is absolutely spectacular.

Lovćen National Park
Mount Lovćen (‘the black mountain’) is a sacred location for the people of Montenegro. Situated several kilometres inland, the location offers an unbeatable view of the Bay of Kotor.

The national park is home to the Njegoš mausoleum; an exceptional monument built in honour of the Bishop-Prince Petar II Petrović Njegoš. The site is guarded by two giants carved out of granite. The many trails in the area are sure to impress any hiker.

Cetinje
Cetinje is located not far from Lovćen National Park. It used to be a miniature capital in the region during the 19th century, before being dethroned by today’s Podgorica.

Though the town’s embassies and parliament have long been deserted, many ancient palaces are still standing today. This cultural town is brimming with history so a museum tour is definitely a must.

Morača Monastery
Nestled near a waterfall in the gorges of the Morača River, the eponymous monastery boasts a stunning collection of frescoes and icons from the 13th and 14th centuries.

Scenes from the life of the prophet Elijah are signs of the Byzantine pictorial tradition in the region. Morača Monastery is one of the most frequented religious sites in all of Montenegro.

Tara Canyon
The gorges of the Tara River are considered the longest in all of Europe, stretching 78 km into the country’s mountainous north. This awe-inspiring experience is on par with the Grand Canyon with a most impressive view from the riverbed and the opportunity to take a rafting ride down the river.

Biogradska Gora National Park
Biogradska Gora National Park is hidden amid the Bjelasica Mountains in the north-east of the country. The park spans 56 km² and is renowned for its beautiful and accessible summits.

A Colorful Sensation For All Senses
In the XVth century the Market was held on Sundays at the square in front of St.Tryphon, making it difficult for liturgical rites to be practiced. It got banned soon by the Bishop of Kotor and never again happened on a Sunday.

The market changed its site during the centuries many times, but kept its good name and reputation with extraordinary fresh and authentic products. In the early morning hours farmers and traders from the nearby villages, such as Dragalj, Njegus,, etc, set up their stands and prepare for the busy day ahead.

Resembling a small festival, the market in Kotor is well-known for its vegetables and fruits grown in the nearby Grblja, fish caught in the Bay of Kotor, olive oil from Bar and much more.
