ROOMS & SUITES
At Il Sassone all the rooms have a different style but are equally comfortable and well equipped. Every morning flowers and fresh fruit are provided and every evening there is a small good night token left in your room.

For those who cannot manage to go without working, all rooms are equipped with internet connections and the rest of the house and the pool area are equipped with Wi-Fi. For those who cannot do without it there is also air-conditioning in each room as well as in the rest of the house.

All rooms are also equipped with: a safe, a hairdryer and clean towels and there is also a daily maid service to take care of your every need.

FIORDALISO
This Superior, romantic room is on the first floor. The view by day offers a glimpse of the sea and by night is truly unforgettable. The interior, created in complimentary shades of blue with a theme inspired by old country mansions blends perfectly with the old France frame of the fireplace and the wooden floor.

The bathroom is also blue giving a marine feel of the Maremma sea. In this room the double bed is located in the corner perfectly oriented in a north/south direction. The hypoallergenic, medium firm spring mattress is ideal for those looking for medium firm support; a layer of latex inside ensures maximum comfort.

ROSA CANINA
Pink and grey mother of pearl give this room a quiet sophistication leaving space for emotions and the need for balance. A hundred year old oak tree casts it shadow through the oval bathroom window.

This antique flavour Superior room can have a double bed or two single beds. The hypoallergenic, medium firm spring mattresses are ideal for those looking for medium firm support.

EQUISETUM
A Superior room on the ground floor. Here green pervades and it is the perfect place to relax and feel energy. The warm wood panelling frames the fireplace to cheer the afternoons and evenings in the colder seasons.

The green and earthy coloured tiles in the bathroom recall the colours of the forest. In this room the double bed is located in the corner perfectly oriented in a north/south direction. The spring double mattress is unique, hypoallergenic and very firm making it ideal for those looking for a comfortably firm support.

BIANCOSPINO
The bespoke painted decoration by skilled artists merges multiple shades of grey with hints of red details that recall red hawthorn berries, giving this room a particular charm and fascination. The sky blue walls in the bathroom are combined with tiles to give an immediate sense of well-being.

This room has a king sized bed with a hypoallergenic, medium firm spring mattress which is ideal for those looking for medium firm support. There is also a sofa bed which makes the room possibly triple.

BREAKFAST
Here breakfast is served between 8:30 and 10:30 in the morning. The breakfast buffet is prepared in the traditional kitchen on the large marble table.

You can find many homemade products such as jams, yogurt, pies, cakes, sweet rolls and biscuits, fresh products such as bread, butter and fruit salad or dried products such as cereals, seeds, honey and plums.

For those who love a savory breakfast there are also cheeses, meats and tomatoes, and you can also order eggs, according to your taste, freshly prepared. Fresh fruit and vegetable extracts and orange juice are also available, depending on the season, and our own elderflower syrup.

The cafeteria provides coffee, espresso or americano, cappuccino and chocolate alongside a wide choice of teas and herbal teas. Our staff will welcome you and show you the buffet, then serve you what you have chosen and marked on the menu directly at the table.

THE RESTAURANT – LA TARTARUGA DEL SASSONE
Given the organic philosophy used by our Farm our cuisine could be no different as a result. Our Chef processes, mixes, bakes, grills and blends the best local ingredients, zero km and organic, to give our guests a kaleidoscope of flavours and colours halfway to show everyone that Italy has no equal in the kitchen!

If you wish you can enter the kitchen one afternoon and copy his recipes and cook with her. It will be a really interesting experience and you will understand how to delight the palate and please the eye while safeguarding both health and fitness.

On the other hand you can sit back and enjoy our delicious dishes and famous barbecue dinners and lunches with a good glass of wine and convivial company!

THEME DINNERS
During the week our Chef prepares themed dinners. Friday is the turn of the seafood dinner: here the fish, raw or cooked, is enhanced in many forms to create inviting first courses and tasty second courses.

Preparation begins in the morning when the Chef goes to choose between the local fish only sea fish (sea bass, snapper, amberjack, ..), molluscs (octopus, cuttlefish, clams, ..) and crustaceans (prawns, lobsters, ..).

He always takes into account the requests of customers who can therefore report their preferences. During the weekend it is the turn of the Big Barbecue served in the Villa, under the Big Oak overlooking the sunset.

In a more country atmosphere and after an aperitif with cold cuts and “donzelle” (Maremma fried bread), a mix of grilled chicken and pork with vegetables is served, followed by the ‘legendary’ Florentine steak.

PRIVATE DINNER
Excellent for a meeting with the whole family or an evening with friends, a business dinner or the repatriation of the group of fans. You arrive on a dirt road , which through the woods and passing over the stream, leads you up to the Villa surrounded by nature among vineyards, woods and olive groves.

The spectacular view frames the occasion. Here we welcome you with a glass of Prosecco that you can sip while you wait for the other guests. Then you enter the Terrace or the Sala Novecento, reserved for you, where lunch or dinner is served.

Are you a large group? No problem, the larger spaces of the Winery surrounded by vineyards will meet every need. At the table our Chef offers you the typical dishes of the Italian and Tuscan tradition revisited for the occasion. You can enjoy them accompanied by a glass of wine produced by our Cellar.

ROMANTIC DINNER
If you want to spend a tête-à-tête evening in the company of your partner, here is our proposal.

In the relaxing and comfortable atmosphere of the Villa, immersed in the greenery of the woods and vineyards, we can organize an elegant candlelit dinner served on our Terrace, where the breathtaking view of the panorama at sunset creates a perfect setting for a romantic date, or in the warm and welcoming Novecento Room.

Upon arrival from the wide staircase, which leads to the entrance of the Villa, the gaze can reach the sea. In the belvedere, the sitting rooms are at your disposal to relax and enjoy the breeze scented with myrtle and rosemary.

The welcome drink served on the Terrace is followed by the Gourmet Dinner. Our Chef can offer you a menu of sea or land prepared with skill, to satisfy even the most demanding palates. The courses are expertly paired with wines from our Cellar. The stay in one of our rooms can complete this unforgettable experience.

TASTING MENU
You are Wine Lovers or want to make a new experience: come and try our ‘Tasting Menu‘. This Menu, prepared by Chef , consists of traditional Tuscan and Italian dishes to which we carefully and wisely combine a glass of wine, chosen from the labels of our production.

It starts with a fresh aperitif accompanied by platters of local cheeses and cold cuts. Then at the table you can enjoy each course with a different wine while the flavors and aromas grow in intensity and strength.

Interesting premise is the visit of the Winery. You can walk among the rows of vineyards and see where we make our wines. The Aperitif is served in the spacious and welcoming Wine-shop before going up to the Villa for tasting.

COOKING CLASS
An interesting experience for those who love Italian cuisine. In the traditional home kitchen of the Villa, the Chef awaits you. His many years of experience is at your disposal to guide you to discover classic recipes of Italian cuisine.

It starts with the description of the recipe and the ingredients. Italian cuisine has its roots in the simple dishes of the peasant tradition.

Then you go to the large marble table to manipulate the ingredients and prepare the basic doughs, roll out the dough, cut the gnocchi, slice the bread before rising. Finally everyone in the technical kitchen to learn more about cooking techniques.

The Cooking Class starts around 4pm and lasts about 2 hours. After the cooking test, relax in the living room, in the garden or take a sunbath in the pool awaiting the Gourmet Dinner. You and your companions can enjoy the dishes you prepared in the afternoon accompanied by the wines of our Cellar.

At the end you will receive our diploma and a nice gift. Agree with the Chef on the topics of your interest when booking. Usually the most popular are:

WINERY
Get lost on the slopes of the Tatti hills and you can stumble upon Simona Ceccherini’s vineyard, a unique place, off course and a little secret.

There, among vineyards, cellar and stable you will find always courteous hospitality, the opportunity to enjoy an extraordinary experience and you can taste the house wines, mainly the autochthonous wines vinified in purity Vermentino and Ciliegiolo, but also a powerful Montepulciano and an extraordinary Syrah, a great and particular interpretation of the light and heat of the Maremma.

WINE TASTING
The winery is located inside the estate, surrounded by woods and vineyards. Here we produce our wines, including:

• Fontefossoli – IGT Toscana – Red

You are welcome to come and visit us to taste them in the cozy Wine Shop or in the Tenuta’s Restaurant.

You can spend every day from April to October, at the following times: morning 9: 30-12: 30 and afternoon 16: 30-19: 00, to discover our wines, their history and buy them. To live this experience more intensely you can book the Large Wine Tasting with:

• “Merenda” (snack) in the Wine shop, where the wine tasting is accompanied by cold cuts and cheeses typical of our Maremma, prepared by the Kitchen, to which we can add savory pies and finger food for a tasty brunch or appetizing buffet dinner;
• Tasting Menu, served at the table in the Cellar or in the Villa is a three or four-course menu, designed to offer you our wines paired with the dishes of our Gourmet cuisine that enhance their qualities.

WINE TOUR
Our winery, surrounded by nature among the woods, vineyards and the paddock of the Stable, is the ideal place to spend pleasant moments.

Here we are pleased to welcome visitors eager to learn about our organic production methods, which begin with the care of the vineyards and continue with the choices of winemaking and aging. The result is our wines, mostly vinified in purity, according to the DOC or IGT regulations of the Maremma Toscana.

The tour starts from the large Terrace, from which the gaze is lost on the woods, the paddocks and embraces the vineyards, then you go down to enter the cellar and here you cross the wine-making room, with the tall wooden and concrete vats, the Barricaia and the packaging room.

It ends, after about 1 hour, in the Wine Shop with the Wine Tasting. Here you can taste and buy our wines and our organic extra-virgin olive oil.

THE SERVICES
Situated on the edge of a natural terrace in a sunny open space bordered by oak trees that surround the villa, the pool at Il Sassone has a unique and spectacular view of the medieval town of Tatti on one side and of the Perola Valley on the other.

The pool is equipped for freestyle swimming, and you can enjoy the whirlpool and dorsal and plantar massages. The filter and purification systems are both innovative and ecological because they use sea salt instead of chlorine. The Chlorine Free purification is particularly suitable for those who are allergic to chlorine.

At the side of the pool there is a pleasant area for sunbathing and relaxing. The Estate provides complimentary beach towels and a range of sun protection products for Guests. The solar powered pool shower gives you the comfort of a warm shower after a refreshing swim.

Beach towels can also be used on trips to the sea or the thermal springs. Ask our staff for details and they will give you a bag to put them in. When you return just leave the bag in the baskets provided near the main entrance.

HORSES AT IL SASSONE, IN TUSCANY: STABLES
If you are looking for a place to take your horse on holiday with you to go riding in Tuscany, well you are in the right place! At Il Sassone we have made another of our dreams come true: the stables.

The structure is made up of 6 boxes of 3.5 x 3.5 m, using flax bedding ( Horses do not eat it because it is bitter and therefore it prevents colic caused by ingestion of bedding), each with a private paddock; tack room; 3 grazing paddocks with water troughs and a 20 x 40 m sand riding school.

Here we keep our own Horses and those of our guests. We can look after your horse in full and half livery in one of the stables or if you choose in the field. Your Horse will be treated as a guest of honour and for longer stays, convalescence or rest periods after intense athletic activity we are the ideal choice!

We can also agree for your Horse to stay with us on a monthly or fortnightly basis. For those who are just curious or interested you can visit the stables and learn about these fantastic and refined Friends at close quarters.

TREKKING IN MAREMMA
In the two hundred hectares of the Il Sassone Estate and the hundreds of hectares of surrounding woodland and countryside it is possible to take beautiful long walks.

You can ask us for information on itineraries for trekking trails of varying difficulty and length both inside Il Sassone and outside, where an expert can lead you to fascinating places that are off the beaten track.

On the Estate we have two circular trails along which you can find signs that give information about the local flora and fauna. The first, about 3 and a half km long starts at the pool and proceeds towards Il Sassone Alto and then down to the Confiente stream and back up to the pool.

The second, about 4 km, starts at the small bridge over the Confiente stream, goes up to the Gate, passes over the Hill and then back down to the stream and the bridge.

During these walks you can lie in wait to observe some of the wild animals that populate the woodland. They are not dangerous and they are easily scared by the slightest sound and run away. As animal lovers we kindly ask you to observe them without disturbing them.

Depending on the season you can find numerous species of mushrooms. If you are experts you can pick them and when you come back we can examine them with the help of local experts.

If however you are not familiar with them we kindly ask you to not pick them. Touching inedible or poisonous mushrooms can be dangerous.

Finally for the lazier ones among you it is also pleasant and relaxing to go for a walk round the vineyards or the small lake. There is a fantastic view of the House and the Medieval town of Tatti from the southernmost tip of the vineyard.

MASSAGES

The goal of a nice holiday is certainly rest but also the opportunity to live new experiences and discover interesting places. What are your interests: art, fun, history, nature. In Maremma there are many different opportunities to satisfy your interests and allow you to live interesting experiences.

If you love art you can easily reach:

• in Capalbio ‘The Tarot Garden’. Inside the park you can stroll among large sculptures, created by Niki de Saint Phalle inspired by the style of Gaudì, which reproduce the allegorical figures of the Tarot: from the Magician to the Popess, from the Devil to Judgment. You will find yourself in a fantastic world where the shapes with ever-curved lines and the bright colors of the sculptures blend with the forest and the shapes of nature. Fun for young and old.
• in Seggiano ‘The Garden of Daniel Spoerri’. Inside this park there are more than 110 works created by Daniel Spoerri himself, a Swiss artist, and by many other artists whose sculptures have found an enchanting exhibition space here
• in Boccheggiano ‘The Garden of Sounds’. Inside a 12-hectare park there are works by Paul Fuchs: sculptures in iron, bronze, stone and wood, slender and very light with the wind they emit sounds and move in space.

If you love history:

• the ‘Archaeological Park of Baratti and Populonia’, less than an hour from the estate, offers the opportunity to visit the Etruscan necropolis and the acropolis of Populonia, in the middle of the Mediterranean scrub with a splendid view of the Gulf of Baratti;
• while the ‘Archaeological Mines Park of San Silvestro’ in Campiglia Marittima, about 45 minutes away, offers you the opportunity to immerse yourself in the mining reality of these areas, retracing their history from the Middle Ages to more recent times.

If your interest is fun, especially with children, very interesting for a day in the open air is the experience that you can experience walking among the trees in the adventure park ‘Il Tasso Scatenato’ at the port of Scarlino.

For those who want to spend some of their time in nature, the Maremma Park, which extends from Principina a Mare to Talamone, is a vast protected area that descends from the Uccellina hills towards the coast, with sandy beaches and cliffs, passing through pine forests, marshes and fields and includes the mouth of the Ombrone.

It is possible to visit the park in various ways, on foot, by bicycle but also by canoe, following different paths and itineraries. The access ticket can be purchased at the entrance to Alberese or directly online on the park’s website.

SEA AND BEACHES
The sea which is considered one of the most beautiful coastlines in Italy is just a few minutes away by car.

Punta Ala, Torre Civetta, Follonica, Castiglione della Pescaia, Piombino and Baratti are destinations that are easy to reach and have wide beaches and shady, fragrant pine woods such as Casetta Civilini, Torre Mozza, Prato Ranieri, il Parco Costiero della Sterpaia or lovely rock coves: Le Rocchette and la Buca delle Fate.

The Argentario promontory with its beaches and small ports which attracts visitors from all over the world (Porto Ercole, Porto Santo Stefano, Talamone) can be reached in just an hour, while just 30 minutes away lies the new tourist port of Etruria Marina in Portiglioni di Scarlino.

Ferries to the islands of Elba, Giglio, Giannutri and Pianosa are just 40 minutes away to the north (Piombino) and to the south in Porto Santo Stefano. Sailing times vary from around 45 minutes for Giglio island to 1 hour for Elba island.

If Golf is your passion, there are several courses within easy reach just a few minutes from the estate:

• The Golf Club Toscana, in Il Pelagone, (18-hole course) 15 minutes away.
• The Punta Ala Golf Club (18-hole course overlooking the sea) less than 40 minutes away.
• The Argentario Golf Club in Porto Ercole (18-hole course) is 1h away
• Terme di Saturnia Golf Club in Manciano (18-hole course and 9-hole course) is 1h and half away.

THERMAL BATHS
The whole Maremma is rich in thermal springs with extraordinary therapeutic virtues, exploited since the times of the Etruscans. There are several thermal baths next to the property which can be accessed freely or pampered in the comfortable beauty farms. Among the best known SPAs we find:

• the widely famous ‘Terme di Saturnia’
• the ‘Calidario Terme Etrusche’ in Venturina
• the ‘Petriolo Siena SPA’ in Petriolo
• ‘La Cerreta Terme’ in Sassetta.

Those who love direct contact with nature, but without comfort, can dive:

Through some Partners we can offer the rental of bicycles and / or mountain bikes for walks in freedom or trips of different degrees of difficulty. BOAT TRIP
For sea lovers it is possible to experience exciting moments by plowing the waves between the sky and the sea, sailing along the Tuscan coasts from the Argentario to Punta Ala, to the Gulf of Follonica, stopping off at Cala Martina or Cala Violina, for a dip or a swim. sun offshore, or up to Porto Azzurro on the Island of Elba for a lunch on the boat or to eat fish in one of the restaurants on land.
