THE HISTORY
The original building is the sign of the most ancient architecture of Monferrato. It has been maintained as a foundation on which to start the renovation. Arches, architraves, walls, fireplaces, and ceilings of the former residence can still be admired.

The expansion and renovation work has made it possible to build a residence where our guests can enjoy a unique experience, immersed in a place where time seems to have stopped and where a hospitable and generous nature welcomes them, with its lively rhythm.

The farmhouse is a great heritage, which preserves ancient traditions, such as the breeding of silkworms and the cistern for rainwater harvesting, useful in times of drought, placed under the paving.

Its walls are a witness of a historical, social, and country life, featured by deep roots that we have deliberately recovered while maintaining the same architectural details as a faithful reconstruction of the original building.

THE BAREA FAMILY 
An entrepreneur able to combine vision and concreteness, a kind of restlessness with stubbornness in making dreams come true, a successful business captain. And this is Tiziano Barea.

He dreamed, searched, wanted, and renovated Tenuta Montemagno Relais & Wines, a relais set in the heart of Monferrato, the result of careful research, in which his family was also involved. A constant presence, even after the work has been completed.

His wife, brother, and the entire second-generation are currently engaged in the management of the relais and the cellar: from commercial activities to marketing and communication, to administration, up to general managing. A work carried out with great passion and a kind of devotion to the customer, to achieve the common goal of creating an unforgettable experience at Tenuta Montemagno.

BAROLO SUITE

FREISA JUNIOR SUITE 
Our Freisa Junior suite is on the ground floor of the residence and is exactly like the Syrah Junior Suite. It is on two levels, and four adults and a baby can be accommodated ( cot available on request). This Junior Suite offers comfort for couples and families, and is perfect to spend a quiet and relaxing weekend.

SUPERIOR ROOMS
The Superior Rooms are located partly in the 1800s tower and partly in the oldest part of the Residence. They offer a glorious panoramic view of the surrounding hills and vineyards. The spaces are elegant, finely furnished, comfortable, and peaceful, reflect the history of the estate, which dates back to four centuries ago.

MOSCATO CLASSIC ROOM
Our Moscato room is on the first floor of the Tower and offers a spectacular view of the Timorasso vineyards, the centuries-old halznut tree and the cellar of the estate.

THE RESTAURANT
Our restaurant, La Civetta Sul Comò, is located on the top of the hill that houses Tenuta Montemagno. The relais is in Monferrato, among slight slopes and vineyards typical of the area, and our gourmet offer comes from it.

Our cuisine is prepared by our skilled and professional Executive Chef, Giampiero Vento, who provides our guests with experimental dishes, seeking the perfect pairings to enhance the excellent 0 km raw material and the wines of Tenuta Montemagno cellar for an unforgettable experience.

THE CHEF
From Sicily to Piedmont, to experience all the different tastes of our country and Mediterranean cuisine. This is the path taken by Giampiero Vento since he was young, starting from his hometown, Palermo.

A professional path that allowed him to grow, always looking for ideas and challenges to give character to his cuisine. Giampiero Vento has always been deeply in love with this territory, and for this reason, he soon became Executive Chef of the kitchen of Tenuta Montemagno Relais & Wines.

His path has led to the luck encounter with our president and founder. Here’s where a union characterized by the passion for this area of Piedmont and by the aim to combine tradition and innovation starts. This is the perfect combination that has always characterized Tenuta Montemagno and all its products.

THE CUISINE
Tenuta Montemagno Relais & Wines overlooks the gentle slopes of Monferrato, beautiful land that has inspired our Executive Chef Vento, who provides our guests with cuisine made of 0 km raw materials locally produced which are top quality excellences of this region.

Our dishes come from the combination of the Piedmontese tradition, creativity, and innovation, adding all the flavors and scents of the Sicilian products such as citrus fruits and vegetables typical of the island. The work was completed with the construction of a new cellar built by recovering the foundations and the basic structure of the old one.

THE MONFERRATO
Tenuta Montemagno Relais & Wines is a relais nestled in the Monferrato Astigiano, that strip of Piedmont located between the provinces of Asti, Alessandria, and Vercelli. It is easily reachable, being only a few hours from Milan, Turin, and Genoa.

Tenuta Montemagno Relais & Wines stretches along the 45th parallel, and its 100 hectares of land touch four municipalities: Montemagno, Varigi, Casorzo, and Altavilla.

He was a military nominated imperator who won many battles and conquered many lands. It is said that, once, his horse lost a shoe, then fixed by Aleramo with a brick. And that’s where we get the name of the region: the dialect words “mun” ( brick) and “frà” (shoeing )that form the word “Monferrato”

Monferrato offers a landscape of great beauty: rolling hillsides cross it, showing woods, vineyards, and ancient old towns made of red bricks. Wine is one of the precious results of the laboriousness of the inhabitants of these lands.
