Nestled within The Breakers on two restricted floors, it’s inarguably our most luxurious and exclusive offering, designed for personalized service and privacy from arrival to departure.

In the late 1890s, just before the turn of the century, industry tycoons and elegant socialites began flocking to the pristine shores of a new destination—a long strip of an island called Palm Beach.

It was our founder Henry M. Flagler, one of America’s great industrialists, who started the trend of grand, gorgeous properties on the island. His first was The Royal Poinciana, a six-story Georgian beauty.

Two years later, Flagler debuted his premier oceanfront hotel, which delighted guests with its proximity to the water and unique location—right at “the breakers,” where the waves crashed and sprayed.

After fires in both 1903 and 1925, the hotel reemerged more opulent each time. The second reconstruction of The Breakers was awarded to New York City-based designers Shultze and Weaver, the same minds who would later create many of Manhattan’s most coveted hotels: the Pierre, the Sherry-Netherland and Park Avenue’s Waldorf Astoria.

Described by the duo as “the acme of perfection in design and magnificence,” The Breakers reopened in 1926, ushering in a higher degree of European influence and architectural flair. Flagler’s newest iteration was modeled after the magnificent Villa Medici in Rome—an ambitious effort that called for 75 artisans brought in from Italy.

Together they completed the intricate paintings, detailed across the ceilings of the 200-foot-long main lobby and first-floor public rooms, which remain on display today. It was a grand gesture that placed The Breakers in a class all its own.

Year by year, the resort’s reputation grew and word spread, beckoning the glitterati to vacation in Palm Beach year-round. At any given time, the guest register read like a “who’s who” of early 20th-century America: Rockefellers, Vanderbilts, Astors, Andrew Carnegie and J.P. Morgan, vacationing alongside US presidents and European nobility.

Today, the story of The Breakers continues, holding fast to the ideals that put it on the map—unapologetic luxury, seaside glamour and world-class service—but also embracing the new. A new standard in social dining has arrived. Named after the resort’s founder, Henry Morrison Flagler, Henry’s Palm Beach is an inviting American–inspired bistro at Via Flagler by The Breakers.

The Italian Restaurant
So cozy, so low-key—and so secluded, you may have missed it. Down a walkway framed with greenery, housed in the Family Entertainment Center, The Italian Restaurant serves family supper, offering authentic antipasti, salads, pastas, brick-oven pizzas, seafood, and other classics­—both indoors and out.

The Circle
In true Breakers style, even your easygoing breakfast can take place in old-world elegance. An architectural gem, The Circle boasts soaring 30-foot frescoed ceilings and eight oval murals depicting Renaissance landscapes, including the Villa Medici, near Florence and the famous Tivoli Gardens, south of Rome. (Never mind the backdrop of palm trees and ocean through the arched windows.)

Each morning, enjoy The Circle’s elaborate, artfully crafted buffet of hot and cold selections—from fresh fruit and pastries to crepes and omelets made to order.

In addition to our extensive buffet, you can always order à la carte from our menu of traditional favorites. And at week’s end, dress up for our spectacular Sunday Brunch, a culinary experience that simply can’t be missed.

The Beach Club Restaurant

The Beach Club Restaurant is that ever-inviting, always-appropriate spot—be it for a relaxed breakfast, leisurely lunch, or a quick bite between pool time and the tennis courts. Gather in the airy, beach-chic dining room, or opt for a table on the patio to take in views of the pools and oceanfront.

Just after sunrise, the extensive buffet beckons diners in for breakfast. Later in the day, options like Mediterranean small plates, fresh seafood and light island fare make for a perfect lunch—indoors or alfresco. After lunchtime, order a glass of rosé at the bar and watch the afternoon sky turn to dusk.

Ocean House
A swim in the water; a nap in your bungalow; a long, laidback lunch or quick bite—you choose. Does life get any better? Ocean House is an idyllic retreat from your time in the sun. Overlooking our two southernmost pools, this restaurant mixes the charm of a Floridian cottage with the inherent cool of a modern beach house.

Step onto the welcoming, wrap-around porch and explore the inspired daytime menu: colorful salads, baguette sandwiches, sliders topped with fresh crab and lobster, and our house specialty: key lime pie. While you’re at it, spring for a beachy cocktail served in a freshly cracked coconut.

The Surf Break
Easy does it at The Surf Break: an open-air bar nestled between our two southernmost pools. Pull up a chair and check the score on one of four flatscreens, or revel in the gazebo’s shade as you overlook the splashing pools and ocean. With a wide-ranging menu of beers, cocktails, refreshments and light bites, there’s assuredly something for everyone.

Our private Beach Club just got more private—and more luxurious. An island-chic retreat, our bungalows are the perfect daytime escape. Outfitted with beach-inspired furniture for endless relaxation, our 25 bungalows range from 300 to 400 square feet and are ideal for up to six guests.

Ocean Golf Course at The Breakers
Discover acre upon acre of lush green: Florida’s oldest golf course, nurtured by The Breakers for more than a century. In late 2018, the course emerged from a full-scale renovation by renowned golf course architect Rees Jones.

Inspiring players of all levels, the course offers an extraordinary golf experience that honors its heritage and seaside location with contemporary playability. Inheriting the original layout designed by Alexander H. Findlay in 1897, Jones’ makeover of the Ocean Course took inspiration from The Breakers’ philosophy of balancing preservation and modernization.

A rich variety of contours, shapes and depths, along with all new salt-tolerant grass and unique water features, help bring the Ocean Course to an exciting and challenging new level.

According to Jones, “every hole has a different little twist and different set of details.” Beckoning talent from near and far, players will be charmed with manicured landscapes and an occasional glimpse of the Atlantic.

The Breakers Rees Jones® Golf Course
A mere 10 miles from the resort lies the championship Rees Jones Course, a stunning expanse of green dotted with blue ponds. It’s a modern complement to our traditional Ocean Course, pursued by seasoned players and beginners alike.

Originally built in 1968, the course was reconstructed in 2004 as one of the premier golf experiences in the southeast United States, reflecting the signature style of eminent course architect Rees Jones.

This contemporary course caters to every level of golfer and provides multiple options, thanks to its large fairways, challenging water carries, varied pin positions and five sets of tees. Please note: for your convenience, complimentary shuttle service is provided from the resort to The Breakers Rees Jones Course.

Tennis
Fringed with flowers and meticulously kept, our gorgeous, intimate grounds transform the sport into something more.
